Loving the Creator so far but with its release only a few weeks away(we hope) ive got some serious worries about content.

1. The hair styles.... about half of them are ok but the rest are just goofy.

2. Tattoos, earrings, necklaces and other accessories are pretty much non exixtent, and i hope that when they do put them in we will be given the same selection at least that there was in the old creator.

3. Hair colors seem to be pretty bland from what ive tested so far and the color selectors examples are very dark and in alot of styles dont give a clear picture of how the color actually will look.

4. The glasses..... how long have Ray Bans Aviators sponsored EvE? Give us some futuristic stuff please and possibly some more normal clear glass frames since they do add a certain look that i for one would like to try.

5. I dont play gallente and dont intend to but ive noticed the lack of those weird face mask things and i really thought they looked good and deffinitely set the gallente apart from other races.

Portrait Screen:
Lighting 'color selections' still produce no color differences, just changes in position of the light source.

They change for me. You choose the lighting type from the big icons and then use the small "7/7" sub-option to change lights/color.

Quote:
Backgrounds are out of focus, even those that obviously should be sharp. I assume this is a problem with the AA.

Working fine here. Actually it would be better that the backgrounds would not be as sharp as some of them are. Depth of view should be there too, it isolates the subject better. The focus should be the character, not the background. (using 4x AA myself, ATI HD5850)

Quote:
Eyeshadow doesn't show up, nor does eyeliner.

They do for me.

Quote:
Eyelashes randomly go vertical.

Haven't seen this myself. Although the eyelashes are not always (i.e. most of the time) connected to the upper eyelid. Once you lower the eyelid and make the character look to the side and looking from a down at the character you can see that the eyelash is clearly off the eyelid.

Quote:
Sculpting parameters make it impossible to create a smile.

You can make a smile, at least with the females. You just need to wait for the right moment to take the snapshot.
Although this may not be true for all parties involved. The posing phase leaves too many mouth/lip/jaw related aspects half way. For most smiles you should be able to widen the smile more. Draw the corners of the mouth further to the side. It's also tied to the sculpting phase. You don't have enough control on the lower jaw area. I.e the lower lip moves and the tip of the jaw moves back and forth, but not the in between part which means you can't effectively change the length of the lower jaw. Also it seems that the mouth is almost a straight horizontal line which doesn't curve enough to the side. This of course varies between humans too, but in EVE it seems to be super simplified.

Quote:
Aside from facial hair and complexion, the face has almost no possible variation.

This is a problem, the lines are always in the same position. There's no variation in the small details. And small details makes us different.
With the latest male patch it seems that the crooked nose to the right (from the viewers perspective) is not as slanted as before, but it's still slanted to the same side with ALL Intaki male characters. The eyelids and especially the lower eyelid is the same for all inside a bloodline. I wish we'll have more options the change the size and orientation in release, but I'm not getting my hopes up. This applies to the eyebrow too, you should be able to "slant" it better.

It's sort of 60% there, 80% should be achieved. 100% will not be achieved but maybe tattoos and many other accessories will alleviate the sameness you get within the bloodline.

You know when you look at a caricature and even when the proportions are way out of whack you still recognize the celebrity in question. It's the small details that we can't control that make the characters unique.

Here's an interesting website where you can combine totally different faces and create an "average" face that is quite pleasing to me.
Faceresearch.org

Obviously I know how to change light colors, otherwise how could I tell they weren't working? And today they were working fully on Caldari Male. The fact that some things render differently on different systems goes without saying.
Yes, I know that smiles can be set on the Portrait screen; I was talking about Customization. Though, I find those smiles ghoulishly lifeless. Eyes are just so dead in Portrait.

Overall, since CCP is giving us no guidlines, I'm just guessing what feedback might be of use. That face website is intriguing though; I wish they'd delay release long enough to fully develop facial variety.

I'm so much disappointed right now.

Im not trying to make a cool character - instead i just try to make the least ugly looking one.

it lacks some options to modify (or modify properly): cheeks, ears, eyes, eyebrows, skullshape, length of hair, bodyheight, bodyweight (what about a realy fat trader?)

Close to every hairstyle looks ugly.
most backgrounds are boring compared to current
The cloths are boring and not futuristic at all

Tattoos?
Piercings?
Unique Scars?
Where is all the cool stuff?!

hey i actually like this stuff, much better than i expected.
i am just wondering, is there going to be an option added for "hair shineyness"?
also whats the function of the 4 snapshots u can take while creating the portrait?

I cannot seem to model any males, only females... No matter what option I try, the editor tries to load and doesn't do more than display the loading bar that completes but doesn't do anything... any fixes on this?

You're missing the male character files. Run SisiLauncher to patch to full functionality.

Customization is just the basic rig, you shouldn't be able to scultp a smiling person --> portrait mode Wink
You should of course be able to control for example the lip/mouth corners independently from mouth height/depth.

But I do agree wholeheartedly that the customization lacks, it's a huge improvent comprared to the old creator, but still lacks a few major features.

And the eyes are hard to get lifelike. The lighting / shaders don't seem to recognize when the colored iris is towards the light. It's too dull for most of the time. Usually this happens when you try to angle your character to look updwards.

The old current TQ creator has almost too much eye reflection as it tends to block the eye so that no color can be seen, only reflections. But even that is preferable to a "dull" eye.

If anyones bored and wants to dabble in a bit of avatar creating, could someone (a few pics would be good) create a Male Amarr Khanid avatar and post it up?

I've been having to rely on looking for posts of avatars people have made on forums. Unfortunately there are barely (maybe 2) pics of Amarr Khanid. I'm unable to check them out, since my PC got fried and the laptop i'm using doesn't show any textures or shading :S

I'd just like to put to rest my sanity knowing that there are some decent looking Amarr Khanids that will be avialble to me once i get my new gaming rig in a month. All i want is a kick-*ss looking avatar.

Most of what I am saying has most likely been said already, can't hurt to repeat.

Frankly, the more I use the editor the more frustrated I am with it. Each time I use editor I end up making a new character and ultimately grow tired of it within minutes or hours. With such a complicated character editor ccp NEEDS to allow us to edit our character more than once. I cannot imagine having a new character avatar that I am unhappy with for potentially years. And with the number of times I find the need to tweak my character...paying for this service with real life currency is not feasible.

I am really happy with my current avatar, and would like to recreate it in new system but that is impossible at the time of this post...for the reasons I will list below.

I'd like to see ccp implement sliders along with the clay molding system they've implemented.

Some control over animation would be nice. - adjusting expressions during customization would be good as well.

either let us repick race/bloodline or allow full control over the way our characters appear.

current clothing options are quite bland. colors are mismatched too. unique Racial/bloodline clothing/jewelry needed as well as more interesting generic items. original racial clothing/jewelry/misc items missing.

I couldn't really get a handle on this bloodline. He's sad most of the time and if he want's to be really angry his eyes are going to be two narrow slits.

Here's an example of a typical male with a somewhat interesting portrait:

I use max settings on my pc, so everything looks great. I think it has great potential, its definitely miles ahead of the old system.

So this is supposably coming out on January 18th, yet from what im reading, it seems it needs a ton of work still, especially in just options. Wonder how they going to pull it off.

Only way i see this working successfully is, remove the one time use of making character potrait for the duration until incarna comes out. Because if the options to customize your character are any indication, there is going to be ALOT more coming in the future that will not be in the update coming in only 8 days.

So CCP, hopefully your smart about this.

They are going to release it in parts. Tattoos, scars etc are not going to be included in the 18th of January build.

After quickly browsing through the topic, I didn't find a post regarding this:

Is it just me, or is it not possible to model characters (the tug and pull at certain parts of the body to change it) with low shader settings?

SiSi Client version: 6.40.219662
Graphic Settings: All to Max
Have some problems with "Portrait" (4) Creation step screen:
Black Screen and buttons "Next" and "Back" is not responding to clicks.

Hardware:
Cpu: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8Ghz
Ram: 2x1Gb DDR2-800
Video: Geforce GTS 250 512Mb
Videodriver version: 260.99
Windows XP SP3 x86

P.S.
I see the many bugfixes and improvements in "customization" step screen.
+ Buttons of a choice of color became larger and it became well visible, what color they give.
+ Colors are applied at once at the moment of pushing color button.
+ Hairdresses 2-6 are visible now.
+ The Makeup opacity switch is accessible now.
+/? Tuck options are operable without any bugs now, but for "Top", 1 and 7 choises is the same of each other.

- My favourite brightly red saturated hair color has disappeared. There were only natural colors. Sad
- Couldn't check up a window of creation of a portrait, because of described above.

1. IMPORT/EXPORT code for quick load/save of configuration for later editing, or use in a second character for portrait swap purposes.
2. Some way to visualize the "position" of the sculpting settings (akin to how the selection boxes worked in the old character creator.
3. HEAD SIZE and body height adjustments should also be possible. It really, really, REALLY shouldn't be anywhere near as difficult as anything else you've already done.

I feel very stupid for asking this but please, I cant seem to load the char customization at all. I select the race and bloodline and then it starts loading customization but it never finishes. I run EVE with no problems but perhaps my graphic card is bad for this? Its 7070 GeForce. Hope thats not the case, pls help guys :(

Difficult to say. With the latest patch I can't use the SisiLauncher as it only returns a "failed" message so I don't whether I'm missing an update or not.

With my comp with everything maxed (HD5850) I once again get the black background and no race/bloodline icons, I can still get to customization as I know where the hidden/transparent icons are but when going into portrait mode there's no character and I can't go back to customization. I have to esc and quit the game.

Each release getting much much better, but still:

1. Amarrian females still lagging behind quite a bit from the more popular race/genders. Also still nearly impossible to give any Amarr female a thin/sharp nose that's not lumpy, bulbous, and hooked. Amarrian females also seem to have lost a lot of 'character' that made them look, well, 'amarrian.' The male amarr/amarr all look generally fantastic, and evil. Still missing all of the amarrian headpiece/jewelry, facial hannah tattoos from the original creator.

2. Khanid males need long black hair, as this was available in the original creator, and one of the most common looks for them. Also the vastly popular khanid 'visor' needs to be included.

3. Clothing: I know there's more to be added, but I'm confused as to why we don't have more clothing 'types.' Gallente females need more insane lady-gaga options, we need 'military' clothing as well (dress uniforms, combat gear, etc), and we also need more 'female' centric clothing like long dresses, gowns, and similar.

4. A big thank you for including the 'blind' eye type.

5. Code copying, we need a quick-export code so that we can come back and continue working, without having to re sculpt everything.

5. Sliders for each sculpt node would be fantastic....

I should had read this thread... yesterday everything worked fine, today it's been fixed and portrait mode freezes the game. Which I found a bit late (thanks God I hadn't finished my job).

Hope they will fix it tomorrow...

(Anyway, the colour palettes still work randomly, but when they work, they do it fine. And rendering each change is now faster and smoother, too)

I'm also getting the client freezing when trying to take a portrait as the above two posters are, but I'm noticing another disturbing trend as well.

While trying to create (or redo the portrait of) a character, it will not display hair at all. As you can see from the screenshot, the character should have fairly long hair, but it still looks as if someone gave her a buzz-cut.

I've had an interesting problem for a while, not sure if there's a way for me to fix it personally. Whenever I'm in the character creator I have flashing shadows on the entirety of the head and above the ass (everywhere shadows would normally appear). Very frustrating trying to get the head right when everything turns black a few times a second.

Also, it freezes at the loading screen while in full screen.
