After i played for awhile with the new char creator i must say i like it alot and there is a huge improvement over the previous versions.

However a few things i didnt like:

- Color selection is buggy and the selection of the different variations of the body parts is counter-intuitive and hard to perform. Tried to use mousewheel, then i tried to hold and drag but it still feel clunky. Hope it will be fixed for the release.

- All Caldari Civire males either suffer from baldness or are in different stages of hairloss. Cant we have atleast one decent hairstyle that make them not to look like bunch of pervert uncles? Its a shame because for me they are the Han Solo dudes of EvE.

- Skin Color - I cant find a skin color that will make my character to look as pale as it is now on TQ. Space pilots living for months under the artificial lighting of their ships should be pale as ghosts or atleast they should have an option to choose to be. Please add this color, it really looks awesome combined with the appropriate lighting.

- Limited amount of accessories - Instead to have the same 2-3 models of pants or boots in 2-3 different colors isn't it better to have a bigger variation of models and to be able to choose their color from a menu like we choose a hair color? I believe it is.
Awesome work so far, just keep improving it.

Be noted: I am *still* angry with the height issue. Yet have been tinkering a bit more and just can say this character creator is full of potential... I am not very skilled, but, how about this?

Over there I posted a reimagined main, apparently 30-some. What about her younger, rebel cousin? ("Rebel" as Amarrian go <cough>).

Meet Indahmawar Fazmarai after dropping the "nice girl":

"Do I look like I want a lollipop?" Laughing

Larger (such nice green eyes...): Green eyed Khanid...? Why not?

And, body, not bad for minimum breast size & all the way up of the chest:

It's an A cup size, I swear

I wonder if we could get some apparel in the future. Earrigns, necklaces, and the such would be a nice addition. And skirts and dresses and panties (I already said that, did I?)

What I can't have green hair anymore! Or have face paint, or have a scorpius outfit! Outrageous! I find the colour selectors far too limited and they often seem to make no difference at all. I would like to be able to pull my char up in the take photo section since he appears quite low down and has no hair or hat to show off.

Hopefully there will be alot more content when this is released. As it is, most of the clothing seems far too regular. Also I would like to be able to pull the top of the skull up or down to alter head shape a bit more.

Otherwise very nice.

Has anyone tried the new SiSi Build #217138?

It does not seem to improve / change anything related to the New Character Creator, apart from the fact that the Top Tuck option UI control does not work correctly.

Tried the new character creator for the first time today. Some comments:

1. What is the point of the four 'photo' boxes? Their existence makes it appear as though you can have four icons then choose the best, but in fact it chooses the last without warning you first. Because they were there I filled them all in so lost my 'best' option.

2. In part because of the above, the image now actually in use for my avatar is tucked away to the side of the square which, when reduced in size within EVE means that the face isn't actually that visible. I'd suggest a 'select & crop' function for a face-only avatar as a final step.

3. When making selections it is very useful that you can see a reference number so that you can return to your selection once you have seen the effect of each option. Direct numerical input would be useful here, especially on the 78-way background choice!

4. As an addition to the above, how about a 'slide-out' option to view multiple options at once without having to load them onto the character? Would mean that each selection didn't require a render even when skipping past it.

5. The 'upgrade' to the SiSi version from the latest live version downloaded over 1.7GB! I have an unmetered and pretty fast connection here, but that doesn't aply to everyone. A warning here is an absolute (for Sisi only as I hope the live version won't be so big), better still zip it! (I actually ran out of disk space during the install part so had to do a clean-up to continue).

6. The character creation ran *very* slowly on my machine which, while getting on a bit, has no problems with anything else. The primary issue is that frame rate is abysmal so the mouse movement is slowed down massively, making selection and movement very difficult.

7. I haven't tried running this under wine yet, but I'm not looking forward to trying!

You can choose (highlight) the one you want to keep. Doesn't have to be the last picture taken.

And when it comes to your machine, the graphics card is a low end card from even two years ago. That's a big bottleneck regardless how much memory it has got.

Yeah, sad how quickly expensive stuff gets outdated! This is my one remaining windoze machine and only exists as such for EVE and Photoshop. I have a medium-term plan to replace it but can't afford to upgrade it yet, especially as in-game it is more than adequate.

The one main problem with the characters in the creator is that they just lack the unique features that will set them apart in the main game, i fear that there will be many clones running around :(

Also the menus that let you choose hair colors etc seem rather hard to use, many people would assume many options are not there for the sheer fact they are not very intuitive.

The creator needs the customization options of the original character creation to really become amazing.

I see Natalie everywhere in this devilish contraption, it's a damned conspiracy I tell thee; also in the Intaki, too - she's everywhere.... It's annoying; 'cause everytime I see 'her' some soundbite about 'the people of Naboo...' goes off in the back of my head. No joke. Evil or Very Mad

However...

UI Feedback:

I was attempting to make a video today, that would show three characters being created from the same root, but ending up quite different. That actually proved a lot more difficult than it should have; so I've given up on that for now, and settled for just two.

The reason it was so tricky is the model's Axis of Rotation, which appears to be somewhere around the tip of their nose/face - please move it to being central to the actual head - so that if I rotate the head, the whole model doesn't move to the left/right of my screen, but stays in the middle...

More UI Feedback:

The History bar... In theory, if I simply click 'back' it should revert to my previous settings - but when you use the 'Randomise shape' function (for one example) the History bar fills up like crazy - could there be a way to store all of those random-changes as just 'one bar'...?

Also, if you use the 'Randomise all' function, from the top-left of the screen, it doesn't add anything at all to the History bar; so you can't get back to an option you liked - not that I really use this option anyway, but I can see a lot of lazy folks wanting to use it on release day, because they think 'Incarna suxx, I don't wanna body, I wanna fly a ship...' - and as much as they 'don't care', I can see them crying a lot about a faulty History option. Actually scrub that, they'll be impossible to please - so please fix my Rotation Axis request instead Embarassed

DANG GUYS, that is NOT how shirts sit on people! There should be air between the following things:

1) Cleavage. Unless you're wearing latex or some other incredibly form-fitting material, there should be empty space between the breasts.

2) Breasts to shirt contact. The breasts shouldn't really EVER touch the shirt, but the shirt SHOULD touch the bra. Example **NSFW** here **NSFW**. Anyway, as you can see there, there is a gap between the breasts. What you can't see is that the shirt should go from the tip of the breast to the shoulder line. Boobs don't magically cling to the fabric, they stick to the chest. With that in mind

PLEASE FIX.

Are those yours Siigari? :)

Overall very good.

I have to run it at low shaders to get a high framerate, however the eyes are bugged on the low shader setting, they all appear with huge irises and a blurred outer eye.

Also, ammarians need moar hoods.

Hi,

this is Sven, and I just tested the new (and long expected) character design tool. My first impression: "Great but Needs for More". The "Great" counts for the functionality and the realism. The "More" counts for the range of options. Here are the details.

Selectable Colors
Main weakness of selecting colors is, that the colors cannot be seen properly, too dark all of them. And in general, I would prefer a color picker rather than a few selectable colors - that would give much more options!

Hair
Many more hair styles (top and beard) will be required, such as Asian styles, African styles, Native American styles, and so on. I also want options for hairier bodies (chest, neck, shoulders, belly).

Eyes
Already today, contact lenses offer a rich bandwidth of color effects for eyes. The future will quite surely see even more variety. So please add many more color styles for the eyes. And I want to have options of disabled eyes (a cap or other options).

Skin
I can see some basic skin shades, but I wasn't successful to keep them on my avatar. That should be fixed (I think it's a glitch), and I also believe, the future will offer more possibilities for unnatural skin colors, too, as we have already today options for many more eye colors through contact lenses. I truly expect possibilities in the future to change the color of the skin. In Eve, this could be accomplished with a color picker, not a few selectable colors. In addition, a skin could be clean or very dirty (machine oil, fat, food, etc.).

Glasses
Can glasses only be worn on the eyes? My suggestion is, to create a new section called "Items", and put glasses there inside, among many more other categories of items. Then we want many more types of glasses, but I am certain that this is already in planning. Also, some might want to wear the glasses on top of their heads ("Sunny Boy", "Playboy") or around the neck, or having it inside the chest pocket or wherever.

Items
This new category would not only host glasses, but many more categories of items which can be placed on the character, such as:
- Glasses
- Tissues
- Necklesses
- Chains
- Knifes, Ballistic Weapons, Explosives, Ammunition Shells
- Repair Tools
- Bandages
- Eye Caps
- Sacks (Bags)
- Purses
- Domesticated Animals (Example: the Parrot on the Shoulder)
- Hats, Caps
- Arm Laces
- Rings (Fingers, Nose, Ears)
- etc.

Extremities
Some could be replaced by a false (artificial) replacement due an earlier accident, or be replaced by a newly growing extremity after an accident (genetic advances in the medical field) which would still be shorter than the regular extremities of that adult pilot. Or, lice a partial cyborg, some extremities could have been replaced with some very powerful but specialized artificial tool. This can be applied for eyes, too.

Clothings
I am sure CCP works already on much more variety.
I also want to see sweatbands, clubs (gloves) for the hands.

Dirt
Mentioned already above, dirt could do a lot for the character (avatar). I can imagine a new over-all layer for dirt, such as:
- Machine or Engine Oil
- Skin Fat
- Sweat
- Food
- Biological Habitats (meant is plants, jungle, soil, etc., like farmers and soldiers get)
- wounds (fresh or dried blood)

This is just a begin, so much can be done with this tool once it contains the right amount of items!

I wish there was more than one tugging-hotspot on the ears. There should be one that controls size, one for outward/inward tilt, and maybe one for rotation.

There needs to be a way to load an image from your harddrive into a little window that you can move, resize, zoom, and scroll within. There's an Asian MMO called Perfect World that has this feature in their character creation screen. You're not going to be outdone in any way by a crappy F2P game, are you?

There also needs to be a way to save an appearance. What if you spend hours perfecting your character and then when you click the last button you are disconnected? That is going to happen. It is not going to be uncommon.

It's very difficult to make a Gallente/Gallente female look less like a chimpanzee. Also, none of the hair models for that race/bloodline loaded for me, just the scalp textures.

The pants don't tuck into all of the boots they should.

Most of the color palettes have no effect until the character is somehow refreshed by some other setting, like lip type.

Some of the color palettes' opacity sliders are not accessible because when you mouse over that part of the palette popout, focus is lost and the popout disappears. I couldn't click on those opacity sliders no matter how fast or slowly I moved toward them.

Re did two of my characters. I want blue hair! No seriously, I do, but I also need more information, I found it hard to change the shapes, its not intuitive enough for me. I stumbled across the drag points by accident then could not get them again straight away. I am a short person, I would want a short avatar, and dumpier, fat bottomed in life, I need to be fat bottomed in Eve. I will have another go at it, but it was hard to use. I have created an avatar on the PS3 and found that simple and effective and I could get me a fat arse... I know eve will require a much larger colour selection etc, but lets start with the facial moves, as soon as you go in, the hotspots should light up to show what can be changed.

Looks good so far, but did not realise how oriental Vherokior, or was that just my fault! Laughing

  • Isn't it possible to give the chars a smile or a bad look. I guess on a station with many chars and the same neutral mouth you get the feeling of a Botox party.

  • I would like to use this as a skirt without pants. But in USA I think you must fix this insight to ... eeh well you know what I mean Embarassed

The new characters look amazing, great job done here.

I've been playing with it for a while now and here are a few things that I've noticed:

1. It would be really great if there was some control over the character's forehead and overall upper-head width. At the moment, everyone seems to have the upper skull equal.

2. Maybe I'm not doing something wrong, but I can't seem to adjust the vertical position of my char on the portrait screen - I can rotate the face, zoom in and zoom out, but the char's face is constantly rotating around a fixed point which is, IMHO, a bit too low. For example, if you zoom out as far as you can on the portrait screen, the entire upper half of the portrait is empty (showing the background) and it looks like the character is sitting down. It would be nice if the character could be moved up and down on the potrait screen - at least so that he/she covers 2/3 of the portrait (or the golden ratio. :) ).

3. The lowest possible eye position is too high, while the highest possible position gives you just absurd and unrealistic results. Any chance of allowing lower eye position?

4. Speaking of the eyes, how come there's only one eye shape available for each race?

On usability:

Scrolling through the side menus with the mousewheel behaves strangely - Most of the time as I scroll with the mouse wheel the thumbnails start to shake but they don't move.

Sorry if some of these were mentioned before, I didn't read through all 18 pages. :)

    Mouse click problem :
In Shape and complexion menu, if we click just next to the selection bar we unwittingly move the character. Please increase the selection box.

    Eyes color changing :
If we want to change eyes color and see it, we must select new eyes and select back the original eyes we've choose.

    Clothes :

Pls put a new Empty top to have the possibility to remove the T-shirt (no top + 1 outer = minmatar love)
Edit - the "remove" cross doesn't work

    Feet :
Allow us to don't absolutly need to have shoes. Minmatar are tribal and may don't like shoes (as I !!)

    Zoom in :
Maybe put the center of the zoom-in a little bit higher. Where he is now we don't have a good view of the hair.
Or clearly show/tell us that we can use right botton for this.

    Middle button :

Used to scroll but don't work correctly

    Hair :
Don't forget to put back all the old accessorys (pls think about my dreadlock rings ^^)

    General feeling :

    That gonna be awesome ! ! !

I agree with Lex.. Natalie Portman turns up always in the CC. it has to be a conspiracy..
    but anyway,
    - Color features dont work without clicking on to another. eye liner/lipstick style.
    - The colors are too dark to tell(I spent 25 minutes trying to find purple.)
    - pants tuck feature is glitchy (pants tuck in, sometimes.)
    - certain hair styles dont show up.
    - Breasts are creepy when big (the profile is ok but they part way too much in the center cleavage area "to the left and right" like they dont want to be next to each other. Boobs only part like that is when women are lying down on theyer back.. lolSmile I should know.)
-Someone brought up the 4 picture option. since you get 4 choices to choose can you make that an actual option?. can we somehow keep those 4 pictures and place them up any time we want?.. I mean , Its the same character just different poses. That option would be great.
-And could there be a "Blacklight" option when using the lighting part when taking your characters pic?.. Make up, Eye color, clothes, hair, background. teeth, should have that "In Da Club" black light music video look...
**** ,and since im going there what about helmets? or visors?/head gear?.. Everyone see the new TRON movie? that look would be a great feature.

In the eyeshadow popup you are not able to use the opacity control. The popup disappears before you can access the control.

As stated before it was impossible to rebuild the char with the same dark skin color. While creating the char the eyebrows attract my attention. Take a look at the old char with the fine curved female brows. Then look at the new char - the brows are typical male and not female. Unfortunately there is no way to change them.

The char creator is really nice and from technical side it is far beyond other game's char creators. On the other side there are only less options which will result in many, many botox clones of Natalie Portman. In addition there are still some bugs like the eyeshadow opacitiy.

Something in your new version is off to me. The cheekbone is a bit too pronounced, also the cheek area is bit too "puffy" around the mouth area, mouth could be a tad bit higher and the nose bridge a little narrower.
