Battlecruiser skill gives 5% bonus to shield resistances.

You'd think at level 5 this would give 10% bonus at level 2 but it only gives 9%.

actually, that one should stack. its all from one skill. The same way that 5% cap recharge bonuses stack.
you sure its not working properly? (i dont fly BSs, so cant check this myself.)

If I got that right when I read it, the 5% is based on the difference between your current resistance and 100%. So the first level gives you 5%, since 5% of 100 = 5.

Then you get a value of 95%, 5% of which = 4.75, and 5 + 4.75 = 9.75, so... 9.

Although I'd think the system should round 9.75 to 10 instead of 9, but maybe it doesn't, or I don't fully understand how it works. :)

No. The skill doesn't give two seperate 5% boni at skill level two, but one 10% one. Thus, a 0% resistance would be increaed to 10%.

However, Nomeshta, resistances do not stack, but the additional resistance gets substracted from the percentage that the resistance is missing to reach 100%. E.g. one of your resistances is at 20%. thus it is lacking 80% to reach 100%. now 80-10% is 72, resulting in a 28% resistance, or in 4% resistance per level. I don't quite see why a skill should give 5% at level one and 9% at level two though. Seems weird.

You are not providing enough info

please post the base reist (i.e look at ship on market and record resist)
the resist at lvl1 and the resist at lvl2.

I can then show you why this is happening and no it is no "cheating".

I think the armour resistance boosts work that way, too... not sure though. There was some discussion regarding it a while ago. o.O;

All shield/armor resist bonuses have the stacking penalty, so the prophecy and maller have the same "nerf" the ferox does. Its done this way so ships can't become invulnerable to a certain damage type. For example: base shield exp resist 60% with 1 active hardener that becomes 80%, .5 x (100-60) + 60, then if the BC skill didn't stack at lvl 4 BC you'd be invulnerable to exp damage.

So if you think it's a nerf, it's a necessary one that doesn't just affect caldari.
