Hello,

ok so my friend ask me if I wanted to go missioning with him.
I told him I cant dont have a ship.
he ask why?
I told him I sold it off.
since I dont like having money tide up on asset im not using.

he called me cheap since everything I own in personal assets fits in a orca

and the only thing I own is a fully fitted/riged orca and transport with a lot of BPO's cruisers and lower

Had a frieghter but again not using it drop it on market
and I hate going on missions, pvping or anything that make me waste isk
I dont like using ammo on mission so I use DRONES
becuase every shot I see im wasting isk

so on personal assets I have about 1bil more or less
cash I have 4bil
market items no clue changes daily

so am I CHEAP??? or is it normal ??

update :
I am investing on MD forums something new for meShocked

Its normal in RL.
You are however playing a game which is meant to be enjoyed.

Depends on how much money you have on your wallet. Did you sell to buy other things or just to let the money sit in the wallet?

I'm confused. You have an Orca and it can fit drones right?

Nothing wrong with being cheap. Let's call it frugle. Yes, using ammo eats into your profits on missions. But not by much. Example: the amount of T2 fury missiles required to clear a Gursitas Sanctum is covered by the bounty from 1 Gursitas battleship. Typically you get a couple dozen in the site. If you don't mind taking longer, you can use T1 ammo. Then your costs are negligable. If you are even cheaper you can doa s someone suggested above and use lasers. No cost but crystals.

Drones require more skill to use as they will get targeted at every spawn and need to be recalled and relaunched at every spawn. Losing even 2 T2 light drones will cost you as much as all the T2 missile ammo for an entire sanctum. But you are right in that once you've paid for them, they don't cost you anything more. Plus they are force multipliers.

If you have billions sitting in your wallet, you are wasting time. And time is isk. Invest that cash into something. Running around in a PvE combat ship popping rats is NOT a waste of isk. It is one of the most lucrative professions in the game. A carrier can make you 100M isk per hour in the right hands.

Remember, you have to spend isk to make isk.

I can never understand why people would be cheap in an imaginary world, unless of course they paid for their stuff with Plex they could barely afford.

I don't think cheap is the right word.

Misguided perhaps?

You're wasting a lot of time by managing your assets so tightly and buying/selling stuff on a per use basis. You're wasting time with drones compared to a ship with real dps. If doing missions is wasting isk you're doing it seriously wrong. 1 mil worth of T1 cruise missiles will clean out a dozen or more missions.

If you want to run some missions with your friends take 200mil and to fit your mission ship of choice and keep it kicking around for when you guys play together. 200mil in your wallet is just as good as 200 in your hangar. If you don't want to run missions with your friends well then that's another matter.

I take it you always keep enough cash to cover them all?
That kind of defeats the purpose of the skill...

If you can hone in on some bounties by missioning with your friend, then by all means do so. That's good ROI. Just remember to fit your domi with lasers so you don't have any consumables to worry about.

That's my 0.01. It's cheaper than those other guys, so you know it's better.

My current assets not meant for trading away:

- 1 shuttle
- 1 primae

That's cheap.

Cesar, you don't enjoy pve or pvp, no problem, just trade and do what you want.

You can always spend the money improving your trading, creating or buying new chars to trade in different regions, getting into manufacturing or whatever.

And if that's too much for you, spend it on plex!

Ships I fly but never use
- Exploration fit Drake (has paid about 1b so far)
- Exploration fit Arbitrator (2b earned so far)

They just sit in my hangar. They have paid for themselves quite a lot so far (drake was 40m to fit and Arbi was 13m to fit up). Just last week, i found a very nice 4/10 plex. If i had to run to Jita and fit the Drake up i would have never gotten the 350m pithum c-type medium shield booster. They're not waste, they're low return investments until you use them to increase the returns Very Happy

Also, my drake is fitted with meta 4 shield extenders because they're cheaper than t2. Same for arbi's armor fit (800mm meta 4 v 800mm t2)

PS: I also pay for plexes. I just don't like flying Pimp-mobiles. /me looks at 20b ISK deathmails of people being suicide ganked.

PSS: Get a vexor (3 heavies) or an arbitrator (5 mediums) and tank them. You can add quite a bit of DPS to your friend's arsenal in missions.

Sounds more like you're penny wise, pound foolish.

The ammo and mission ship are tools for ISK generation, so getting rid of them means you can't do spur-of-the-moment missioning like when your friend asked you to join. (Or if you were in 0.0 and a good plex was found)

And if you have 4.5 billion in cash it sounds more like you're hoarding rather than actively trading. There's so many good investment opportunities these days that keeping ISK like that is a waste.

Personally I got lots of ships and assorted items in hangars all over eve, and most of them are too much of a hassle to gather up.

Try trading, you will discover the real meaning of being cheap.

Honestly, it's just how you like to play the game. Personally, I would never feel comfortable with your setup. I happen to have 3 jump clones. Each Jump clone location includes at a minimum: Covert Ops probe ship, Mission/Site Drake, Mission/Site Worm, Post Battle Field Cleaner (Salvage Destroyer), and a Hauler (Badger 2).

Additionally, at 2 of the sites I have a Raven for level 4s, a mining vessel, and additional PvP ships. This way I have multiple bases of operation when needed, backups in case, and I always have a way to go off an make money. I may not have as much in funds as you have, but I am comfortable with this setup. So really, to each thier own so long as you enjoy it.

PS: Mission Ship doesn't have to be expensive. An unrigged (30m ISK) drake will still do the job somewhat well with the right training. Throw in a flight of light drones and sick them on the frigates. Use your heavy missiles for the cruisers and above. Also, if you make billions (more than 4) remember me Laughing

OMG, when I wrote that you should invest, I didn't mean to invest in MD scams which are essentially low-profit high-risk investments. ;/

I meant investing in market related stuff... We're still in the post-Tyrannis market-correction phase for a lot of PI items.
