Now that the noctis is on the market, can we treat salvaging the same as looting as far as criminal flagging goes? I've been in missions where people jump in and start salvaging my wrecks before I can complete mission and grab the wrecks. As a matter of fact, this happened all day upon the release of the noctis and into the week.

Considering some wrecks throw out more in return isk from the salvage than from the loot, this is a hard pressed issue. How's the loot considered player items, but the wreck is not? Missles, crystals and ammo cost the player isk to fire them. Being that some ammo and missles are sometimes over 2000 isk per shot and a lot of loot is worth less than the cost of what it takes to shoot down the target, players can lose money by not salvaging.

Now that we have this almighty salvaging ship, it will make these mission griefing salvage stealers more eager to eager to jump into missions to steal wrecks. Can we do something about this?

The problem with this is it will leave a lot of junk in belts because most miners don't bother to salvage (or loot, or abandon wrecks). Thats how I make my living, cleaning up belts.

Im rather wondering why you think the Noctis is changing anything.
Sure its got a bonus to salvager cycle time but as you still CAN NOT tractor wreaks not belonging to you that shouldnt bother you.

True the salvage is worth more than the loot in some missions but as CCP made it clear only the loot itself is your extra reward, salvage is a bonus first come first take.

This. ^^^

You can't tractor wrecks that aren't yours and Noctis moves slower than a destroyer by a good deal. As such, Noctis doesn't change the mission at all unless you abandoned your wrecks. (Not actually sure if you can tractor abandoned, I've never tried, can you?)

Salvage is a bonus, pure and simple. If you are having trouble with salvage ninjas, move. That sounds harsh but really, move. I haven't seen a ninja salvager in over a year since I left Umokka (a major mission hub near Jita, no wonder there were ninjas crawling all over the place!)

If you just stay there and keep whining, you'll only attract more of them when they go "Hey look, it's that same ship, they always run 4's and never give a hoot that I take their stuff! Wee!!!"

Just move like everyone else does.

To the previous poster. Yes, you can tractor abandoned wrecks, afaik.

That aside, give it to them. i am so tired of this whine, I am even willing to suffer through the inevitable barage of "OMFG CHANGE IT BACK NAO" threads that will erupt as soon as the change goes in.

+1 for amusement factor.

The only good thing about this is that ninja salvagers would have to fly a ship that could outdo the mission runner.

*pictures a gank-thron warping in and salvaging...hmm...*

Making criminal status would really only serve a purpose in lvl 3's and up in hisec, and even then a PvE ship vs a PvP ship isn't likely to go well. Could a Raven kill a destroyer if he takes the time to outfit it to speed tank the cruise missiles? Again, you'd add an element of risk to ninja-salvaging (just like ganking I guess) but does it really change anything? You also have a new problem: looting.

If you make criminal status on salvaging, then folks won't stop there, they'll loot. Hell, they're criminals anyways! Now you stop seeing destroyers and Noctis...and bigger, badder ships with the cargo space to steal your loot too. You just went from bad to worst, now you really DO have to move! lol

Salvage is not yours. If you really want it, fly an alt out and do it your self.

CCP has always answered "No".

....As intended.

Then you should obviously salvage.

Why would we?

Heres a solution: auto-abandon all wrecks you own on grid when you warp off. If you are there and present the wrecks are considered yours. Someone steals from you while you are there after the wreck was created.. They are flagged to you.

You leave the mission.. the wrecks become abandoned and are open season so they can salvage while you're off fetching your salvage ship. :)

Everyones happy. Ninja's can still ninja while the runner is picking up their salvager (or sitting in the next pocket!) and the runners don't have to helplessly sit and watch while they salvage all their profit in front of their very eyes.
