Actually it sounds like you are the one with the issue.

This is not like socialism its like progress. You are a grandpa, and because you had to slog through the mud in the rain and snow 30 miles with no shoes to school, you believe that your grandkids should have to as well. You snarl at new inventions like the car and pavement which ferry them to school faster and keep them dry. You cry because they can use a microwave oven to cook their food and have grocery stores which contain everything they could want to eat. You are jealous because now that they don't have to slog in the mud like you did, that they have time to do fun activities like visit with their friends or join a club.

Lets see here... The most maxed out person lost a tiny fraction of training speed, and got their SP back. Most everyone else was at a level close to that so gained a tiny bit of training speed, and got their SP back (although a lot less SP). New characters train a bit slower compared to the entire length of the accelerated training, but in return don't have to train learning, so can train something useful instead.

So no-one really lost much, and no-one really gained much either, except that now you can spend your first days in eve training something towards your chosen profession. Now I also think that learning skills were a choice, but only how far you trained them. Not whether to train them at all. I did not max mine out, and I wasn't jealous. In return for not maxing them, I was able to play the game and have fun sooner. I simply used more expensive implants even when I PVPd and optimized my remaps. I accepted this non-loss.

However the vast majority of people (you included) have the attitude that everything must be maxed out. That rather than enjoying the game and a certain progression, you should waste months of time training useless skills so that years down the road (if you are still playing) it might pay off. Well you lost the gamble, and now you are the jealous one. This exact attitude is why the learning skills were removed. Because new players wrongly think they are forced to max them to be competitive. They aren't the same as other skills. Unless you are an idiot you must train the learning skills at least to some level. However all other skillsets allow you to choose them or not based on your chosen profession.

Thank you for putting that so well. I'm tired of seeing 50 new threads whining in 3 hours time.

good post! However you fail at one point: "and now you are the jealous one. " which implies there has been someone jealous before me... But really I mean it other then that good post!

That said, HTFU. This is EVE, and devil take the hindmost. There was an extended debate on this subject and I personally was mildly against removing learning skills, but the debate was had, and the proponents of removing them carried the day.

Shut your noise-hole and take your defeat like a man. Make the best of it and at least try and show some dignity. Your terrible tears thread wont change anything. If there's one thing that EVE should have taught you it's that no-one wins every fight, and that it's better to be the guy that types "gf" in local than to be the guy who spews rage and tears.

I was against removal of learning skills, but you, OP, disgust me. In fact you and the people like you have done more to change my mind than all the arguments of the "pro" people put together. I genuinely thought there was a case for retaining them, and that the arguments against relied on doubtful logic and poor understanding of maths and logic, but it seems that I was largely in the company of people who really did think that the main argument for keeping Learnings was so that others should suffer as you did.

Your tears are delicious; I'm looking forward to spending my ~5M SP.

what smegging tears are you talking about?

Your tears. The bitter salty tears that made your OP so soggy, limp and wet that I'm going to have to ask you for the number of your local hospital so I can call them to come round and impound your membership of the male gender card.

I'm disappointed that you aren't looking to hire someone of my talents, that's pretty much wrecked my career plans. I was very much relying on impressing you and now that hasn't happened. I guess in hindsight, I shouldn't have pointed out what a terrible crying crybaby you are. In public.

tbth: I seriuosly think that the only existing players who gives a rats ass about new players are the ones who plan on getting a ****load of alts and making quick use of them. I also think that the fact that someone who has something you don't is something that ****es the hell out of people (see f.ex. debate about T2 BPOs). I'd like to give one good example of how this works in real life:

I come from a cold little country not far from Iceland and here these things are very easy to spot. In short it's calle jealousy, and a powerfull feeling it is indeed. It's so bad that house construction is strictly regulated to make sure noone stands out in the crowd. L x W X H = standard. style = standard etc. etc. So then 10 happy families (usually with kids) move into these happy homes and live their lives. But then suddenly something terrible and unthinkable happens... One of the families get a payrise or wins the lottery or inherit some cash (can I haz your stuff kinda thing). Then what to do with this.... Yes I know let's buy a nice car and also a boat which can be conveniently be placed into the garden most of the time to show the neighbours that we are rich mother****ers. The result of this incident is always the same. Next year you'll see 3 boats in the other gardens aswell followed up by 5-6 boats the following year etc.etc.

Screw this the rich ****er sais, I want to extend the sice of my house, that will show them who is the man here! By now the other families are drowned in debt trying to pay off the credit debt they got due to this strong urge they have to be "EQUAL"... But wait, you can't just extend your house, you'll need to ask permission... From your neighbours... whom will say no.... so **** you for being better off! HAHAHAHA the loosers win again...

This is called socialism and is mainly concerned about inhibiting any well-doers from getting a break in life to keep the common crowd happy. After all there are more jerk-offs then people who succeeds and do things properly here in life.

So again, to most of you, congratulations for hiding your true motive (jealousy) and hiding your true agenda under the banner of "helping the new players" and making CCP think listening to the general crowd = $$$$.

But screw you all for not telling the truth after the battle is won. Your a bunch of jealous bastards who can't stand that someone has 5/5 and you don't.

Finally: No, not emo-rage-quitting before they nerf research (Which probably will be very soon) and to all the *****s hanging around this forum spilling your acid guts all over the place... save it, your comments are unwanted.

I want replies from people who have the guts to admit the truth!

No I can't be assed to run a spellchekc and no I'm not native english so stuff those comments as-well!

To the op:

Ok, you kind of lost me a bit. So you live in a small cold country and you want to extend your house. Because it's a small community with not much to do you are very good at judging people like if they are jealous.

So what's this got to do with Eve. If you think people are jealous of you having rank 3 level 5 learning skill then in general I think you are mistaken. I had them on one of my characters. I never felt they were worthwhile just a huge waste of time having to train them in the first place.

I never felt wow what an achievement, more like that was daft wasting all that time. It was a relief to finish training them with that character, why because it meant that part of the game was over.

TL;DR:

OP says the only reason anyone could possibly want Learning skills gone is because they're jealous of the people who have maxed learning skills.

"Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. Jealousy often consists of a combination of emotions such as anger, sadness, and disgust."

I think you'll find that it is, in fact, your reaction that is one of jealousy. The people who covet your learning skills are envious, not jealous.

Lets see,
OP
Grammar : Fail
Spelling : Fail
Punctuation : Fail
Incoherent Rant : Pass

Total score 1/4

At least use a spellcheck even though you said you couldn't be arsed to.

To top it all, assuming that each and every player in favour of dropping learning skills are envious of the "1337" people, who quite wisely considering the game mechanics at the time, invested time into learning skills to hit the magic all skills lvl 5 shows a degree of hubris that is quite astounding, not to mention an ego that you'd need to keep in an Orca to move it around.

So that month that it takes to learn up learning can be spent training into your selected career.

So that means more pvp pilots
So that means more miners
So that means more corp activity
So that means less new players getting frustrated and quitting

Then on the flip side yes people like us with extended learning skills suffer A FRACTION but isn't slight discomfort worth knowing that the game you pay 15 dollars a month is now collectively a better game?

How do you make a game better? Most people would agree when i say it costs money to make a game better and how do you get that money? You need to expand the player base and guess what this is exactly what your doing by implementing this change.

So to make it short yes i will gladly take it up the ass if it means i can see the majority of players have more fun playing the game.

Lame excuse for being lazy! Maybe if you made an effort to improve your writing skills, you could impress some original ideas on other people instead of simply impressing yourself.

If the forums were a high-school dance, you would be the underachiever along the wall wondering why no girls are accepting your offers to dance. Or better yet, you wouldn't even show up for the event.

It sounds like your just jealous because new players aren't going to have to suffer the same stupid system that we all did.

And wtf is up with that excessively dramatic description of the concept of jealousy?
