After 6 years of EvE, I believe it is time to move on, though one can never say for sure eh? I have done so much, met so many people from all over the world, experienced almost every aspect of this game. Here is a small hopefully fun summary of my time spent in perhaps the best sci-fi game ever made (imo). Also, i am a bit stoned, so just a warning my writing will suck....so just a quick synopsis of my journey.

I started in March of 2004 having arrived with thousands of Earth and Beyond expatriots. We all formed a corp together called Celestial Horizon, and it quickly became a formidable force of both carebears and famous pvp'ers. At first we stuck around high sec, but our corp leadership was always pushing for good ties with one of the original 4 alliances that held control of 0.0. Joining one of the original 4 major alliances was tough, with stiff requirements for new corps eager to enjoy the riches of nullsec life, living on the furthest fringes of known space.

Life was tough back then. There were no POS's yet, no outposts (only npc and conquerable stations), no capital ships, no t2, no warp to zero..... everything was manual... we didnt even have red/blue tags to differentiate neutrals and enemies from our blue friends... you had to ask in corp chat and hope you got an answer fast enough before getting shot at.

Eventually we joined Xetic Alliance and I was chosen to act as the corporation's liaison to the alliance and part of the corps leadership team. However a few months in with Xetic, we soon realized that the alliances largest contributor in man power (500+ corp members) had little say in alliance affairs. So soon after Celestial Horizon led a coup and took over Xetic stations and formed a new alliance, Ascendant Frontier.

Ascendant Frontier was formed initially by Celestial Horizons, Dirty Deeds, and a few other corps. Dirty deeds later left and formed their own alliance Axiom Empire and both worked closely together for common defense. Ascendant Frontier, led by the infamous Cyvok (who i last ran into playing Fallen Earth a few months back), was an alliance the likes the game had never seen. It marked a new moment in Eve where a shift had slowly began that would completely change the landscape of EVE. The games first four major alliances that held their dominance for nearly two years, was crumbling and on the brink of collapse. After Xetic fell, the influence of Curse Allaince, Stain Alliance, and Phoenix Alliance dwindled rapidly. Curse was next, Stain split into two entities, and later Phoenix was I believe the last to fall. The balkanization (for you younger folk, this is a term... meh just look it up) of EvE had began and the evolution of politics would change how the 0.0 game was played.

I ended up leaving Celestial Horizon, mostly because i didnt agree with how we handled the whole Xetic coup and knifed our brothers in the back... so off I went to start my own corporation. I founded Civil Defense Bureau. We grew into a corp that peaked at about 20 members, and eventually disbanded to merge with another corp, Two Brothers Mining Corp that was also started by ex-Celstial Horizon leadeship. WE wanted to get back into 0.0 so with our newly merged corp, we rejoined Ascendant as they new us already and at that time joining an alliance was still fairly tough.

I left after a few months discouraged over lack of leadership. Cyvok was so bent on creating a virtial high sec empire in the middle of 0.0 and wanted to avoid combat at any length... Band of Brothers took advantage and led a three month campaign that eventually brought the end to his reign, and his dream. He later rage quitted in EvE like fashion after learning he lost his Titan (first one ever built) while logged off forgetting he was flagged.

After that I spent many years as a pirate, being part of infamous Virus corp, Corsets and Carebears, Exanimo (Triumvirate), Divine Retribution, Team Americas, and the Final Stand.

.. tbc...

It has been a long long journey... and at least for now... i have decided to leave EvE and start a new journey with a new game. I have lived all over the EvE map and done just about everything imaginable. Eve still has a lot of potential and i wish everyone i have met over the years the best.

My new game will actually be a virtual copy of this one, though in more of a Mech genre on land rather than in space, called Perpetuum. Many of you have likely seen youtube videos of the game. It is very similar to Eve which is probably why i like it. Small dev team, independant company. I will enjoy the game as it evolves as Eve has. The beta is virtually bug free and and is filled with ex EVE players. Anyway.. not trying to steal EVE players, but that is where I am headed.

So thanks CCP, and thanks everyone else for such a great ride.

I actually read the story, I always find it interesting to read the path people take over their years playing eve. Everyone's is always at least a little bit different, which I guess is what makes EVE so great.

On another note, I don't suppose you would be willing to part with your stuff in my favor would you?

Sad to see another old-timer go.

But don't give away your stuff *

You should know better than anyone that everyone comes back

Nice read and refreshing as well.

Enjoy your exploits in Perpetuum. I am sure it will be an interesting ride to see another fledgling game through development and its youth come the end of November.
