Now thats a nice build for cheap. When I say "$500" build I guess what is really meant is don't pay for the bleeding edge when last years or even the year befores stuff will do just dandy and last pretty much as long if you buy smart. |

I'm thinking that the only major thing ccp has invested in dust is the time. I bet even with only a few tens of thousands of copies sold they make a profit and as long as thats the case they can do just like eve and continue to build the franchise whilst the rest of the fps developers are on clone of duty 159. So as long as the tie in to eve sov is viable there will be a dedicated core of players. I know I'm getting dust and will be pulling in my cod4 buddies into it.  |

I had thought that Dust 514 is going to be released on PC, but not before consoles.
The thing I'm hoping is that they are doing this not only to increase their user base, but also because they will partially redesign it for PC, rather than porting it, because console to PC port games are the spawn of turds and hell and crap like that. |

A) they are not expensive
B) there are some very good other games which are ALSO console-exclusive.
C) elitist aversion to consoles is YOUR problem and NOT a good excuse for failing to heed this advice.
D) As a gaming platform, they are equally as legitimate as PCs. |

Lol, the EVE marketing guys really got to you eh? Other games simply call these "addons" content patches and reserve the term addon for payed "content patches" which are produced in addition to the content patches and normal (bugfix) patches. I don't like to pay for addons either, though. And I really appreciate that the stuff you do in EVE has some sort of lasting effect, even after an "addon" is released (i.e. unlike wow where everything becomes worthless the second an addon hits). Not to mention the single server experience, but all of that doesn't mean I have to put on the purple glasses. As for the OP... oh my, how could you miss the whole "dust for consoles only" whining on the net months ago? |

Something I thought about this whole DUST on PC thing and the only reason I'd want it...
With Incarna coming out... I'd like to dock up, hop out of my pod and somehow through the station go to a recruitment office who is looking to hire mercs for planet side pewpew.
From there, hop in a shuttle that takes me to said planet and dust loads on my PC.
I think that'd be pretty damned cool.
Other than that... w/e.

This is actually what I want from dust too. But as I has ps3 I'm cool with it for the moment.

personally I swing two ways with dust..
I have an xbox 360 and will be playing dust most definately, the thing tends to sit there as a media player till I get the urge to play something.. and I prefer consoles for most games (other than rts or mmo)
But I really dont understand why it should not be released for pc as well as console, seems daft alienating your existing client base to me.. then again you can get an xbox cheaper than a gaming pc and if your that keen to play dust it may be a worthy investment, its a nice bit of kit and does more than just games.
Lastly I think its a huge step forward in gaming for something like this bridging console gamers and pc gamers into one integrated universe (even if only to a very limited degree).
Anyways understand the frustration but dont consider it a game breaker by any means. |
