I have some questions regarding factional warfare, pretty basic, but if anyone can help it would be very appreciated.

1) Which factions are most active/least active. Looking for some good fights, not we just walk all over the enemies or vice versa.
2) Are the rewards for the missions any good?

Thanks for any help.

Faction warfare is awesome.

You can't really call one militia more active than another, because the dynamic between the 4 shifts every couple weeks or so. Honestly I'd just find an active corp of good guys and roll with them, everything else will fall into place.

And yes, the mission rewards are a great way to make ISK.

I have some additional questions about Factional Warfare if folks are willing to entertain them...

This is an alt. My main is Gallente and has a research POS in gallente high sec space. I'm dreadfully bored with Empire and want to pew pew. I was thinking of joining factional warfare. In order to keep on making T2 goods in my spare time I can't just join a FW corp. I'd have to join FW as my whole corp so I can keep running the POS. This raises the following issues for me:

1) I'd be in a corp of population 1. Would this suck? I was hoping that I'd be embraced into my faction's legions and get into some good big fleet fights... but from reading the forums I'm thinking another possibility is everyone only flies with their own corps and so I could do some solo PVP but would be unwelcome in gangs or fleets.

2) POS safety - I would suddenly be at war with a whole lot of people. Any chance that an enemy gang of 100+ drakes would roam into my high sec system and gank my POS? Seems possible as the faction NPC ships are only at the gates. Or is this unlikely and I should go ahead and sign up? Also, the FW guide I read said all of the pew pew takes place in contested systems and not high sec. Is being in factional war with someone much different from the rules of corporate/alliance warfare I'm familiar with?

3) The factional warfare guide I was reading kept talking about standings losses and there were also threads talking about some remote-rep associated standings losses. Essentially I'll be majorly screwing up my standings with the opposing factions right? Basically I'll never be able to shop in Jita again?

4) Should I do it in spite of all these problems?

People are less likely to fly with you if they don't know who you are - so to this end yes it will probably suck to be in a 1 man corp in FW, at least to start with. FW militias do not work all-together and yes many corps tend to do their own thing. Whilst "general militia" fleets DO happen they are not guaranteed. If you are not afraid to go out on your own and make an effort to feed back intel into the militia channel and generally try and be a nice guy and not a total douche then people will get to know you as friendly and not a spy alt (well in theory, some folks are totally paranoid ofc).

If its a medium or a large POS, with ECM/lots of aggresive mods etc then sure it will be more of a pain in the butt to take down. Also the war-targets would have to find your POS in the first place, if it is away from popular mission/trade hubs then it will in theory be safer (I am assuming your POS is in friendly space here). But it is always going to be at risk and if you don't have the people online 24/7 to help you defend it then tbh I would probably take it down. Yes in this respect FW is much like a normal war-dec.

Also - the Faction Navy ships follow you around, they are not just on the gates. The first 10 enemies who enter the system cause a spawn (so thats 10 spawns max) and they will follow the targets around or switch if that target leaves system. Do not assume your POS will be saved by them - they are easily tanked using various methods.

3) The factional warfare guide I was reading kept talking about standings losses and there were also threads talking about some remote-rep associated standings losses. Essentially I'll be majorly screwing up my standings with the opposing factions right? Basically I'll never be able to shop in Jita again?

If you join a militia and only ever pvp against your war targets then no your Faction standings will not be effected. If you start taking part in FW missions and running the FW bunkers/plexes then you will start to take Faction hits... as I understand it. Note that whilst you are part of a militia visiting your enemies high-sec will result in the Faction Navy ships spawning to shoot you and again - they WILL follow you around, they are not just on gates.

4) Should I do it in spite of all these problems?

It's easy enough to hop in for a few days then leave again if you don't like it (there is a 24hour buffer period when you join/leave though). My own tip would be to be as proactive as possible and be happy to loose tons of ships (assuming you are newish to pvp?). Fly cheap and cheerfull and just enjoy roaming low-sec and learning as you explode.

Eelis Kiy,

Thanks for the detailed answers. I now feel like I have the information I need to make this decision. I think that I'll try solo for a while and see if it works out for me.

Thanks again.
