With enough digging it is amazing what can be found left laying around in CCP files.

Lets look at this one, How young must eve of been when this Screen shot was taken ?

EvE pre early test
Then Moving onto this one.
EvE pre early test (GUI)
Then On to something that looks more what we are used to today.

Not as young as linkage but it is always good to find screens of days past.

Yes that is old, nice find.

I would think that the fourth picture that i found would have been hidden a bit more, as it contains a very fine lady with no clothes, but not very forum friendly, funny that devs would imbed "****" in thier files.

"Mined 1 CU of Tritium from asteroid 2" :) Also look at dem fat mining droans. Also, also lazer rifter? WANT :O

EVE has come a long way though.

If you'd use a time machine to pick up the devs working at EVE in 2002-2003 and show them how it is now and what they are working at currently they'd be amazed and very happy I think.

Notice how in all shots of the old versions there is a tactical overlay that is kinda like a minimap of the battle field.

I would love that option in the current game to be honest.

It's a screenshot from the client back in June 2000, so way before any public beta of it. Would guess the green line is the route he flew?

The other images that OP posted is from around 2002.

I don't want to call an outright fake, but look at it. It uses UI bits mocked up in Visual Studio (or its 2000 equivalent) in about five minutes, text output, red/white lines for what I guess is shields and armor, a generic NASA stock image for background... and fully rendered ship models clearly recognizable as today's ships?

…if by "fully rendered ship models" you mean "bitmaps that look like heavily compressed concept art", then yes. Wink

Not a liar. Misinformed maybe. And those look like the 3D ship models, and the rest of the image suffers from the same compression artifacts.

You can't really tell at that resolution. They're certainly not 3D in that shot, since you have two ships appearing in different areas that look exactly the same. They're just bitmap tiles.

Oh, and I assume you're talking about jpg compression artifacts — I'm talking about nearest-neighbour shrinking algorithm artifacts.

The sad part is in that link Zy posted, the last release screenshot UI looks much better than the crap we have now.

The tactical map in the shot with the laser Rifter is very Elite (circa 1985ish on a BBC model B) in its look

Hrm I don't even remember ever seeing the UI look like that in the one with the green line. Not even in the Beta....

And on that note, the Beta tutorial was awesome! Drops you in front of an asteroid after making your character and essentially said, "MINE MOFO!" As you sit there trying to figure out what to shoot the asteroid with.

This should come as little surprise, considering the origins of the whole idea of EVE.

You missed the edited part where I was accused of trolling for suggesting he was lying and he failed to provide any proof. Also I'm not disputing the pictures in the actual op.
