Hello all.

I'm cutting down on the accounts I run and am going to legitimately transfer a character to my brother, all above board.

However I'm not clear if all the ISK,assets & Implants go across with him, or if he goes across naked, Terminator 1 style! ;-)

ie do I need to contract all his ISK and assets (to himself?) in advance of the transfer?

Cheers for any advice. (I have made a cursory search and checked what FAQs I could find, but nothing obvious springs out.)

According to the rules posted in the character sales forum, characters must be transferred without significant assets.

I'm pretty sure the account gets transfered completely, assets and all that would be the default if you were transferring one of your own characters to another of your accounts, surely.

Normally, if you're selling or auctioning an account publicly (legitimately of course), you're not supposed to transfer ISK or assets. But it's a private sale, and you could just give that stuff to your brother anyway after the transfer through contracts, so you should simply be able to pay the $10 and give him the character hassle-free.

Many thanks for your replies. I'll probably just let all assets go across with the character in that case. Wasn't sure if they would physically blink out of existence!

There's nothing that you'd call significant assets these days, just a couple of battleships and handful of frigates and cruisers. I guess I can prove to CCP he's really my brother if there's any issue in future, and there's no ISK or money changing hands. Well, he's paying me back for the transfer cost but I guess there's no harm in that.

Typo hopefully. Can't transfer accounts - although I think there is probably a mechanism for exceptional cases.

The rule is simple :

5. The character being sold must be stripped of ingame assets of any significant value before being transferred. Items cannot be listed among the character's valuable assets, only skills, implants and reputation. You are buying/selling the character ONLY and nothing else. Ships and items can be readily bought on the market for ISK.

So if you want to leave the assets there then you can't charge for them.

Edit - in your case does it matter? Anything that goes across by mistake/whatever can be traded back?

Ah, no I have no worries about any problem between me and my brother. He's welcome to the lot.

I just want to make sure CCP don't ban him or my main or anything due to us not following the rules.

I'd read that as a typo too, I am talking about a character, not account, transfer.

When you transfer a character, everything connected to that character goes too.

Assets, wallet, contracts, evemails, bookmarks, datacores, LPs, RPs, wallet history - everything.

It is not outside the rules to transfer with assets, as long as they aren't "significant" - and they're not allowed to be used as an incentive for the sale.

I think the concern on CCP's part is that character transfers could be used to mask real money trading, e.g. a character is loaded with massive assets and money changes hands outside of the game. I'm not sure why this would be any harder to keep track of than other asset transfers, but it is a thought.

Just use your judgment. If the assets are significant (>100b isk) I would transfer them separately.
