Yeh, I had some good times pirating with muffin factory back in 2006-2008. Such times have passed, I'm not even blinky red anymore Wink Small gang warfare was still common back then.

Along with the evolution in fleet tactics/size and the death of ransoms, the introduction of warp to 0 greatly harmed low-sec piracy. It used to be so easy to pop people warping in @ 15km all day Twisted Evil.

WTF is up with your spelling.Postet? this is whats amounting to be pirate QQ with a ton of misspelled werds'et...And your not even sticking with et as a finishing move to all the words your trying to slay'et

Clients refused to pay ransoms.
Refused is missing the quality et,Blamed,Changed,called..Etc. the list goes on.If your gonna do something doit right.Stop crying and start adding the damn et to everything! This could be the reason your failing as a solo? pirate in an MMO heavily designed for groups of people.Want solo pvp WOW has it.

Amaymyon: Because of what could turn out to be problems for some players, this is postet with an alt. It is postet by request and it is as deep as i can go into it.
SixToOne: Pirates are supposed to be proud of themselves and there work.Posting with an alt removes most if not all of your credibility. You speak of not goin too deep but you have used 2 whole post slots to go as deep as can be possible. You didnt leave out any detail we couldnt/cant figure out.

TL;DR Op is hurt he cant play solo game in a MMO'et.

EDIT: Since we know this is a pirate alt,OMFG pirate tears! Best teerz

Back when I started in 2006 it seemed like every new player wanted to go into a "Pirate corp". Back then a noob could mission in low sec with a rookie ship or cheapie T1 and be left alone but if you got caught off guard in something expensive all was not lost. The "extortion racket" actually worked out to be more like a protection racket and so a mission runner would still profit. Insta-death and loss was not guaranteed.

Now people will befriend a noob, lure him out to low sec, destroy his ship and scram his pod, and then laugh at him for an hour. Sometimes they get him to join their corp and rob him too. That's not piracy. There are large Pirate story threads here, some older and some newer. Read them and you will see how things have degenerated. Gone are the great tales of capers pulled on unwary and rich players, tactically disadvantaged teams pulling a Captain Kirk, ass hats getting what they deserved. Now it's all about ruining the game for somebody. It's all fun and games until some 12 year old hangs himself and the detectives see the chat logs. Then there will be an army of politicians out to put an end to this game (and parlay it into more controls of the internet, and the flow of information about them that they hate the most).

If the real pirates of 1600-1900s (Earth) acted like the people calling themselves pirates in this game, the Caribbean would have been like lowsec. Did the pirates of yore sink every barge, local fishing boat, schooner, frigate, and shell the port towns? Of course not. They went after rich merchant ships, barons traveling from Europe and the Americas, and played cat & mouse with the navies and freebooters. Did they sink everything in site "for the lulz" and if they did, there would not be any commerce and the islands would be empty. Even they knew that (and they were for the most part recognizing that much of the resources of the islands were controlled by corporatism. Pirates were capitalists).

And the latest trailer is all about scamming a corporation. Rolling Eyes

What this game needs is an advertising campaign that is all about piracy in the old sense, even use some music from Alestorm as the soundtrack.

But this "brotherhood" and others who agree with them need to clean up low sec if they ever want it to be what they say it should. This means that they have to clean the yard. But things have changed too. It's possible to completely avoid low sec between empire and 0.0 so the pirates don't get a chance at the booty. Then there are cap ships in low sec and pirate bands cannot stand up to them. I remember back in the days when Sniggwaffe was camping Amamake before WTZ and from the looks of their boards it seemed like they profited well. Without ships to pop and loot, or ransom, there is not enough income to get the kinds of armaments needed to deal with these griefer blobs. So the disadvantage is already in place via game features and mechanics.

Then there is the new scanning mechanics. It used to be possible to mission in low sec as long as you were careful about the gates. Sometimes it was possible to pay off the local pirates (protection). Now it's almost a given that you will be scanned out and destroyed. Anyone can say anything about that as they please, but the reality of that is that the profit margin is gone from low sec missions. This means no targets. The structure of low sec missions are the same as that of high sec: fly around for a while and shoot stuff. Low sec missions need to change to short targeted kill (tank the hostiles long enough to kill one named target) or exploration missions (hack the can in time) and any such highly-intense but short duration where the skills matter more. "Blockade" in low sec is impossible. Period.

- memories: my first skills in 2006 were all about ABs and agility for that gauntlet run covering the 15KM distance from warp to gate. And I had need to as well, doing missions on low sec. Those were the days.

Nice Post, I would say Super Carrier hot drops into low sec was probably the latest nail into the coffin of Low Sec pvp.

Props for getting past your issues and finding fun again. Solo piracy is a very hard trade these days, not to mention the lack of real ransoms to be had in low sec.

It's nice to see there are still others out there, that understand piracy is more than blobbing around ganking everything in sight.

Nice read. Brings back memories of chasing and being chased all around Tribute and Vale. Congrats on still pirating solo. I miss the 2004-2005 style of game we had. Caps online kind of leaves the solo pirate scrounging for targets
YARRRR!!

2004 was the golden days to be honest. That was back when The Pirate Syndicate was in full swing and m0o had all but died (thankfully), and before the Alliance System was even introduced. Then all hell broke loose when people could form real alliances opposed to title alliances. Sometime after that, things were still going well for piracy in general, including solo pirates who refused to be the sheep. You could still roam systems and still find people mining or ratting in those days. Then slowly enough, it just died more and more with the rise of newbie pirate corps promoting the trade like rockstars.

I've been following solo piracy for a very long time and it's clear that all the changes are for grouped PvP. Nothing is really there to help us move forward. You have ships like Dictors that totally dominate the solo crowds now on top of cloaked alts and various systems for keeping the little man down. It's a new game today and well, if you're solo you might as well hang it up. You have virtually no time to even get loot let alone try to pick someone off 1v1, 1v2 or 1v3 without weaker pilots blobbing ya from the stations they are hugging until the rest of them are ready to fight.

Good piece of history from the area I was involved in and patrolled most of my EVE time:

Quote:

M3G4

Created by Smoked, this Corp started in Beta, continued in Retail, and eventually (after an internal coup) became part of what was known as the Biomass Cartel.

THE 5 PILLARS OF THE EMPIRE
Biomass Cartel - CEO: Darwin
EPA - CEO: Hupa
Huff Technologies - CEO: Bandit64
Omnigen - CEO: Zen Later
Valkerie Enterprises - CEO: Vultair

The following is meant to be a temporary (brief and vague) summary of the history of F-E. I will update with a more thorough and indepth revision after reviewing the history with hupa and a few others.

I entered the F-E group in August of 2004 but I had been speaking with The End since May of 2004 about joining F-E. At this time Biomass Cartel was operating in Geminate/Vale against Unicor; Biomass was mainly led by The End at this time. During the UNICOR war the Forsaken Empire was reformed and Biomass was kept as a place for misfits who could operate covertly against The Pirate Syndicate (the then rulers of Tribute, Vale, and Geminate).

In October of 2004 the remaining individuals who stayed in Biomass, after the UNICOR war, were asked to join the Forsaken Empire and Biomass was put into hibernation. During this initial reformation of F-E things were a bit chaotic since our relationship with The Pirate Synidicate was starting to sour. Turmoil aside, the F-E was essential in defeating Huff who, at the time, was attacking TPS. After the defeat of Huff and a few other irrelevant corps the F-E came to blows with the leadership of TPS. As such, the F-E eventually led a coup against TPS and within a day had regained all of its former territories except Tribute, which was given to D.E.V.I.A.N.C.E. corp for their assistance and loyalty against TPS.---

Once F-E had reclaimed its territory in Vale/Geminate we decided to rebuild the corp and include a few new friends (DEVIANCE) in our little group. But, as is consistent with the F-E, trouble came knocking... Bob, most likely at the request of former TPS leaders who had joined RKK (namely Blocko and Dianabolic), started to raid Tribute on a daily basis. Long story short, internal problems with DEVIANCE and their inability to hold Tribute led to the F-E questioning the competence of DEVIANCE corp. Thus, the F-E started a search for "new friends" who could hold Tribue.

Enter Force of Evil...
