Unique BPOs - don't care. Supercarriers? Just what Eve needs more of.

-Liang

Ed: Also, supercarriers are hardly stuff for "big alliances". LOL.

The feature itself actually sounds cool though.

Wait... Walking in Stations is delayed again? Instead we get an updated character creation in the coming expansion? :/

It couldn't be that supercarriers are not tools for "alliances" anymore, but are instead being dropped with extreme regularity throughout every part of low sec by every 2 bit pirate corporation could it? Seriously, supercarriers are so cheap now that they're well within reach of individuals.

"Hurr, I'm gonna go solo PVP in low sec! Get my alt and light a cyno! Hurr hurr, impossible to kill!"

Eve needs less supercaps not more.

They did let us know first. We've known it was going to be about the Sansha "Invasion" for quite some time. ;-)

Eve lacks truly cooperative PVE, so it actually sounds pretty fun to me.

-Liang

Ed: I guess you could say that L5s are cooperative, but most of the time it's "bring an alt in a Nighthawk". Wormholes are cooperative but there's a whole raft of problems with them for smaller corps.

As someone noted on massively.com:

Quote:
They seem to add less and less each expansion. CCP have massive amounts of cash and resources but they don't innovate at all.

Ok it'll be a nice addition, but when i look at other MMO's, i see them add similar stuff for free in their patches + also bring out paid expansions with even MORE stuff. EVE Online expansions are nothing more then glorified patches imo. PI gets an overhaul so not a real new feature. Only 2 major additions i see are the new character creation and incursion feature.

What i'm also wondering is:

- Will we get more updated ships like the Scorpion? It would just be ******ed to not update some other ships with this expansion. Because then what the hell is the graphics department doing at CCP?
- When will we finally get a new forum? It's quite sad that we need to depend on a third party site to search the official forum.

The article doesn't actually say it will add more supercarriers; It just said they dropped "New blueprints." They could be blueprints for something completely different.

I doubt we'd start seeing faction supercarriers just yet, or else there would be a much larger buzz about it.

I don't see how adding a faction super carrier would increase the number of SCs in the game. All it does is increase the variation of SCs in the game. Someone who buys a Sansha SC would have probably just bought an Aeon if the option wasn't there. So there won't be "MOAR" SC's in Eve because they add another model.

Hmm, Incursions are nice and all, but I'm underwhelmed as well.

Apocrypha brought new dynamic space, a new AI engine with tons of new PVE, and T3 to boot! I would hope that they're leaving out features in the article, because I'm getting bored and am quite ready for another expansion on the scale of Apocrypha.

Hopefully CCP will release a dev-blog soon so we don't have to keep guessing from a second hand massively article!

This assumes that motherships = supercarriers. I'm not so sure.

Initially, motherships were a type of Titan that the Jovians built 500 years ago. To quote the official chronicle directly:

Three huge vessels were built, termed Motherships; they were the first Titan-class ships ever built.

If we look at recent history from the EVE universe, it was reported just over a month ago that:

In reaction to the data acquired by capsuleer Mouse Nell, indicating a major Sansha military presence within the borders of the Jove Empire, the Amarr Empire has set all its military forces to a state of high alert.

Could it be possible that the Sansha have, in fact, gotten hold of the blueprints to the original Jovian motherships, which were actually Titans? Could it be possible these blueprints will build the first combat capable, publicly available, capsuler pilotable Jovian ships in EVE?

look at it this way..

it gives joe bloggs the chance to get hold of a piece of kit he may never have..
at worse he will sell it, it will end up in a random persons arsenal..though if they can buy that they can get any racial supercarrier anyways..

So what we have is..

The chance for a random player to gain a unique ship.

The fact that joining and fighting a player event can give good results(for the lucky player)

Interesting. Sounds a lot like world bosses in other MMOs. I wonder how they'll prevent Titans/Supercarriers from soloing them in record speed?
And they said the incursions are expected to take a week or more to defeat. I'm not sure how they achieve this while still making it a fun experience instead of just loads and loads of hitpoints.

Also, wish they'd expanded on the Planetary Interaction thing a bit more, but I guess that's what Autumn Dev Blogs are for.

Rare is different than unique. Furthermore, there's lots of room for "rare" and "unique" that isn't "supercarrier". The supercarrier plague has spread far enough.

Fair enough..the chance for a non alliance "regular" player to get hold of a "rare" (faction SC)ship..

So as i said..folk will get a SC if they want one regardless of these drops..

Let me guess..you got butt ****d by one at some point??Rolling Eyes

just cannot work out your problem with a (no doubt) very random BP drop...

No, actually - I'm just tired of 1d20 supercarriers being dropped on a solo Hurricane in low sec. Even if they don't kill it (and they haven't gotten me yet)... its just a sign that this is Super Capitals Online.
