OP deserves a forum time out, imo. The subject line makes it obvious that he posted this knowing full well that it's a dead horse topic that has been beaten to death in a hundred other threads just like this one, yet he opted to share his drivel with the class in yet another brand new thread.

I don't understand the problem here. If they're AFK then they can't hurt you.

If you can't defend yourself from an enemy you don't deserve your space, simples. If you have 200 people how can you do nothing? What would you do if the same guys came with their cap ships and took your space? Hide in the station?

If you had any backbone you would be setting atrap for these guys. And if you are renting space from someone maybe they would help with the firepower for such atrap? i.e. you send some guys out ratting but fit a cyno, enemy hot drops caps, you drop caps on them. Anyone with space to rent out in the first place must have caps and the prospect of a hot-drop will entice most.

Finally if its the caps that are a problem get a cyno jammer, then its only cloaky recons you need to worry about and they are inferior to standard ships in a stand up fight.

Who in their right mind is worried about an 'AFK' player... you had 200 people and yet in the end you all stayed in the POS or docked because you were worried about that uber 'AFK' player.

You've given me an idea for my next step in EVE, I'm going to be rich... RICH! Rich I tell thee!!!

p.s. What system are you in so that I can come and pwn you in the face with my unarmed Anathema and then ransom you for a bucket load of iskies!!! mwhahaha

Had an afk cloaker in my system. Just fit a warp stab. He didn't dare get closer (scram) and couldn't fit two disrupters, so he eventually left.

I honestly can't see how, with fitting a stab, an afk-cloaker cyno'ing crap in is a problem.

Usually the problem is AFK Cloaker staying in ur system annoying the residents coz they dont know whether or not they are afk to disrupt activities from fully operating or not afk actively hunting in the system.

Pretty cheap way to harrass players in a system is what ppl are whining about. Therefore a suggestion toward idea to counter this might be needed.

Got a AFK cloaker in my system atm ShockedSad

As I stated earlier, I am not losing any sleep on this issue.

But some folks have been making a statement that is just flat out WRONG.

"AFK" cloakers are NOT harmless "because they are afk". They Don't stay afk. I've been on BOTH sides of this tactic, so I know how it works.

They can be dealt with, but to say they are harmless because they are afk is ignorant and/or stupid.

There's a misconception that "AFK cloaker" means the "cloaker is AFK". This isn't the definition of an AFK cloaker. Actually, I think those that argue that "if they're AFK then they're harmless" know this is wrong and spread this stupidity on purpose.

An AFK cloaker is someone that makes a habit of purposely going AFK for hours/days at a time, single-handedly wearing out the locals, and without EVER being at risk himself, then choosing a time to surprise-attack the locals.

The AFK cloaker is NEVER at risk and NEVER will be at risk unless he clicks his PVP flag "ON". And even then, since he CHOOSES the time and WHO he's going to attack, the risk is negligible. In the mean time, he has everyone else on his toes watching out for him, because after all, he can attack any minute. No one knows.

The argument made by the AFK cloaker supporters is that in 0.0 you should always be alert and ready. What they fail to mention is that at the moment NONE OF THIS applies to the AFK cloaker Laughing.

It's why I also find Crumplecorn's signature on AFK cloakers oversimplified to make it seem like they truly are harmless and are AFK:

Of course, anyone that doesn't understand what IS going on would look at that propaganda and think "hmmm, if they are AFK then they are harmless", when in reality this is only half of the equation.

I guess it's all about spreading misdirection and false propaganda.

If the only thing you wanna do is fill your wallet in 0.0, you dont need to rent space or a corp. Just go by yourself, anchor a can with ammo at a safe and kill rats to your heart content. Any 0.0 rat spawn can be handle with a newbie char with less than 1.6 million SP.

Cost of tier 2 BC 25-30 millions
Fitting 10 more millions
Insurance 5-6 millions

Loss when you get blown up 10 millions

How long does it takes to make 10 millions in 0.0 : between 15 and 30 minutes

Chance that a 200 men gang jump on you : 0.001 %
Chance to get ganked by your average 0.0 pilot : very low

Just use 0.0 npc stations if you need to dock for whatever reasons, dont bother with sov crap and all that jazz.

The bigger you are, more you will attract people attention, especially from people who are not in 0.0 for the sole purpose of having a fat wallet.

Cloaking is not immune.

All you have to do to find afk cloakers is to rally a 1000000 man alliance, and fit trusters and sweep every inch of the system with numbers.

Eventually you will bump into the cyno stealth covert wateva and get to kill it

good luck.

if you cant or unwilling to do that leave 0.0
