i think the AFK cloakers with cyno / covert cyno is a plauge in eve.
we are about 200 peeps who had rented som systems in 0.0 and started our own alliance. a few days later the AFK cloaker came. beeing there 23 hours a day makes us to do nothing. and eventually we cant make money to stay in 0.0
some guys tried ratting, but they covert cyno fleets in and cyno in cap ships. and we cant do anything?!
why is that?
I have no problem with cloaking in generel its fine.
THE IDEA
Simply make it the way that you cant fit a cloak (any type) and a cyno (any type) at the same time. So a cov ops. tengu or something like that can still camp, but he cant toss a cyno in your face.
To all the haters... you would cry too if you was camped by a single toon, and you cant do anything other than taking huge risks. |

Why not counter hot-drop? Surely you can assemble a defense fleet, given your 200 some members.
If you can't, they you're rightly being kicked out of 0.0 for being incompetent. |

grow a pair and set a trap for your cynoed in fleet or better yet spend the time and money to get sov in your systems so you can put up cyno jammers.
if you cant or unwilling to do that leave 0.0 |

It's not solo if he has to bring in a fleet. Why don't you have the alliance holding sov put down a cyno jammer? |

This, just takes 35 days for the sov level and a freighter escort to your system from empire with the 400k m^3 ihub upgrade for jamming thanks to ccp. But if they are really cynoing cap ships to kill ratters, you may want to get some free cap kills with some bait and the support of the landlord alliance, because who doesn't like cap kills? :D |

Unfortunately black ops fleets are becoming more and more common...and those can't be cynojammed and are just as deadly to a ratter (having seen corpmates being dropped by 4-5 carriers or sometimes blackops...). |

You could always invest in some smart bombs...since its rather obvious that this cloaked individual is watching your Ops...go out and have a little target practice on jetted cans...
...they are area effect weapons after all, you might get lucky with a "depth charge attack" type tactic.

well the alliance thats bothering us has +80 SC, we have 30 caps. YEAH COUNTER HOT DROP!!! , fools...
a cynojammer would help us a little, but first of all covert cyno is also a deadly weapon, when they have all the time in the world to wait for a ratter to give it a try.
SOV 3, for a cynojammer is alot of isk in time, and if we cant rat / mine we cant live that long.
Funny how so many people (on this forum) does not have a problem with the AFK cloakers,, i guess they are in a huge alliance with no problems at all.
if a cyno and cloak should be fitted together it should be able of somekind scanning him down, i dont know how. |

If you can not live that long and have no way to hold off an alliance with 80 SC, this new cloak change will definatly save you. Seriously your a 200 man group facing a giant allaince, congrats you lost go home. Or join an alliance with sov, and except your not big enough for this war alone. |

My god, again, I think there should be a auto lock system which locks any thread automatically that talks about removing t2 bpos or afk cloakers. The arguments have gotten old, its not going to change, so please HTFU or GTFO.
I only get tempted to afk cloak those who post these threads, especially on their mains. |

How many systems? 3 systems makes about 65 people ratting in each system. I'm not sure what kind of fleets are being covertly jumped in, but with 65 blues in local it's normally not a problem? |

Well, then, I have ANOTHER solution for you : start ALSO paying protection renting the space you already live in from the guys that hotdrop you.
That, or realize you'd never have a chance to make it in 0.0 in your sorry state, and merge with some other corp or alliance.
Or pack your tail between your legs and head back to somewhere else where the big bad wolf won't catch you.

Just a hint for those offering cyno jammers it's a rented space which usually means no moon mining, no cynos etc.
However setting up a trap shouldn't be that big of an issue. |

He is not "AFK" if he is cynoing fleets in, or scouting you. Therefore there is no point to this thread at all. Quote:

Cyno jammers for the win.
BUT, I also don't think you should be able to cloak yourself indefinitely.
The fix for afk cloak:
Introduce new "cloak" and "cloak-scan" skills, and a new set of modules to help scan out cloaked ships. These scans should take a while though, perhaps at the fastest (all decloaking skills trained to V) will still take 5 minutes to find the cloaked ship. This keeps cloaked ships on the run. Those with enough skill or patience can still evade the decloakers by shifting positions every 5 minutes.
Also, allow us to install security measures in a system, like anti-cloak batteries around mining fields or planets.
Idunno, it seems to me that in real life that if you have control in a system, you upgrade the system's defenses. |
