HI CCP,

Its been awhile since EVE was launched, i take it 7 years??....well in that time many new computer hardware has changed. For example LCD monitors with bigger scrceen size & much higher resolution. I am using a dell 27inch monitor which has a native resolution of 2560x1440. I know you can change the font size for chat windows but UI Fonts are really very tiny even maxed out at 12 & Expanded in the option menu. I am sure many gamers out there have a same setup as me or even with smaller size monitors but still have problems seeing those tiny fonts....Can CCP please consider a customizable font option....thank you for reading....hope ccp will take this into consideration.....cheers Gazi

I have the same issue. My monitor is set to 1920x1200 and I like to have EVE as a window so I can do other things while my ships move about, salvaging etc and the text can be really small.

Yeah I have 2 x eve accounts, so windows mode is way to go for me too.

I think you guys need your Eyes checked or sit closer to the screen.
I run a pair of 22" Screens at 1680*1050 each screen(the Native Resolution for the screens) I have no issue reading Eve upto 2 metres away from the screen.

22inch LCD& 1680x1050 is fine, just that the newer lcd which are bigger & higher resolution , the fonts is too small for those new LCDs Neutral

It's not the actual font that's limiting, but the interface. Any bigger and the letters wouldn't fit the existing boxes of bitmap that never change with resolution.

We need a 2nd bigger set of interface that can replace the old one at higher resolutions. It would also alleviate some of the whine regarding lack of in-game aa support, as it's less noticeable at higher resolutions. Supported.

In the CSM before the latest, CCP had hired someone to work on fonts. For reasons I don't fully understand, rather than licensing existing fonts, they are developing an in-house solution. Anyway, it has turned into a multi-year project but something should be available soon(tm.)

But yes to better fonts and font options.

My joke is that more ISK is lost in Jita markets due to tiny monocolor , and . (thousands separators and decimal points outside the US) than due to combat.

Newer? I got the Twin 22's 6 months ago.

Anyways you know that the Larger LCDs still have the same number of pixels per square inch right? So text that is 10 pixels on my screen are also 10 pixels high on your screen(assuming that both screens are running native resolution) You only think that it is smaller because you are sitting further away from your screen. :)

This is incorrect. DPI on lcds ranges from... about 13, which is where your 22" 1680x1050 falls in. 90 DPI in 2010? Seriously? And I thought my 30" was crap.

The higher tier ones can easily be in excess of 120 dpi though.

Some expensive ones go even higher. For example, my 13" laptop sports 1600x900 which is 140dpi, and the new version of it which I want sports 1920x1080. Yes, on a 13".

That said, I don't have a problem reading text from said small monitor at, and yes that includes eve fonts. And I sit well away from the screen. I think people playing this game just can't see well, even my stubborn friend that was ****ed off by the small font at first got used to it after a week.

Now to the real question: Do you people really want larger fonts?

This is a very serious question. When playing eve on my 30" 2560x1600, I often have trouble getting everything I want on the screen. Nearly one third of said huge screen are taken by overview and scanner windows, and I really would like to have *smaller* fonts in there, so I wouldn't have to scroll in large battles. That'd be awesome.

Then there's the 5 chatrooms you want open on screen and not in tabs, since they're important and you want to read without constantly needing to switch them. A good example of this is local if you're not in highsec, since a neutral/red popping in there needs to be noticed instantly. Then there's the fleet window for broadcasts, watch list, drones window (I have this rather large because carriers suck), selected item window.

So again I ask: Do you people *really* want larger fonts?

Edit: Also, the small font eve uses is a very good font, because it only uses capital letters. If you have trouble reading that then I dunno what the hell. The inability to discern 0 and O, I and l etc should be addressed though, which is my only issue with eve's font.

Edit2: FYI capital letters need to be only 5x5 pixels large to be perfectly readable. This might not work for high DPI monitors, but any LCD larger than 20" and cheaper than $3000 is not high dpi, so unless people are still on CRTs or use said $3000+ LCDs I don't know what the hell. Maybe you're just sitting too far away from the screen?

I've got 1 or 2 models prior to this one, but the current model has the same resolution.

Yer Laptops tend to have higher dpi than the desktop LCDs, seems a little odd to me, My 15" Laptop has a res of 1920x1080 too :)

I fully agree with your lack of screen space comments, I tend to have probably only about 10% of my screen not covered by windows.

Confirmed, we are working on it. It requires some tech to work. It might happen in the next expansion but it's not confirmed, but I was in a meeting were this was discussed and we would like to see it in, but it needs a bit more work. So soon™ ;)
