TL;DR As the title suggests.

I've been playing for about five months, purely as an industrialist/miner. Got myself in to Transports, Freighters and Exhumers, everything I wanted to obtain when I started this game. Alas, it would seem that the thrill of a new ship just isn't cutting it anymore. ISK has never been an issue. Ended up in a great Industrial Corp, who's members have given me reason enough to continue playing, simply for their great company. It feels as though I've hit a wall, with nothing left to do.

Sadly, I haven't even scratched the surface of R&D and have given up on PI. I recently started an alt to play around with. It was intended for mission running, until I realized how nauseating missions are. Gave up after having purchased a Drake for diving into Lvl3's. I'm sure they give good hand-outs at Lvl4/5, but, playing purely for the purpose of making ISK just doesn't sit right with me anymore, I've done it for too long. Stockpiling cash so I can buy another machine in which to increase my ability to stockpile cash is no longer a fun prospect.

I always loved playing in groups. Even missioning is enjoyable with others. Though, I've never enjoyed the role of DPS. I've played many MMO's. It was difficult getting over the way skills were leveled in this game when I first started playing, but I've gotten used to it. I always loved "support" roles (Healers, buffers), Logistics sounded awesome, but the long term training time always kept me from committing. Mainly due to the fear of being distracted with some other prospect.

I know EvE is based around PvP, and do enjoy the game to be perfectly honest. I want to enjoy it. Everyone told me..
"Not playing PvP in EvE is like never hitting 80 in WoW while complaining of few activities to do." But I've never been a big PvP'er in any other MMO's.

I have two characters who's skill queue are totally open to any options. I was thinking of training Covert Ops, Stealth Bombers as I was told they were quite fun in groups, in which my corp has a program for. Again, cold feet on if I should begin training. What about a 'Cane? Heard great things of the ship for the use in player combat. How about a Domi/Myrm for RR'ing? Or go for Cruiser V in x-Race and go for that Logi? I always disliked being in a situation where I ask myself..
"Damn, if I had trained ..x.. instead of ..x.. these past few months, I'd be able to do ..x.. with that gang."

...Or am I just grasping at straws here, trying to like a game that I actually don't like while not being aware of it yet? Crying or Very sad

Just looking for suggestions, something to grasp on to, a direction to go in, if you will.

The good news is you already know how to have a successful alt. Time to start playing EVE. PVP is the answer.

Take one of your alts and join your faction's militia. That's a very good way to get wet in pvp. Don't be discouraged if you lose some ships, but it will be worth it. You'll spend some time finding out that you don't have the right skills trained for pvp, but you'll grow into it.

Pvp is the most fun part of the game, and in my personal opinion, small gang pvp is the best. You should be able to find some of that in the militia. Nothing is better than the feeling you get after a gut wrenching battle when your side just barely comes up on top!

Good luck!

Take your mission runner alt, presumably he has much better core skills for a template, and convert it to your pvp isk-sink. You can manage your miner/indy in your spare time for cash (but you shouldnt need much if you start right).

There are lots of faq's about getting started in pvp, go check them out.

By the sounds of it, you'd enjoy flying a logistics ship with a small fleet in wormholes or level 5 missions. Logistics are very useful in PvP as well. I'd say that training for one of each armour and shield logistics would be a good idea (Basilisk/Scimitar and Guardian/Oneiros).
