(generic bandwagon lag topic)

As per the latest CCP news item.

Hell yeah, shave off 3 ms on your side and wait 15 minutes for TQ to respond!

These the new-fangled ones with the TCP/IP stack built into the controller?

I doubt you'd see ANY performance increase with these and EVE, as they are meant for high-bandwidth, low-latency applications.

PS: Facts can't be trolls.

Oh, missed that one.. yea they gave out a few at the Alliance Tournament, too. I doubt CCP actually thinks they'll help with Eve (seeing as it was designed, and does run on dial-up), but some people get hard over those things, so its a good gimmick to get them to subscribe to Eve on Facebook.

Stimpy, you IIIIIIIIIIIIDIOT! Of course the Killer NIC will vastly improve bandwidth.

Enter, win, ebay, buy GTC.

You save a *TON* of bandwidth if you don't have to login to generate isk to buy PLEX.

IIRC these things are effectively mini Linux boxes on a card, which lets them modify packets invisibily to the host OS. Chew on that.

Sure, but what has the noticeable gain for gaming been in comparison to a $300 dollar video card?

I'm referring to the nefarious things one could do with this setup vs any sort of performance gain. It reportedly has a 'induce lag' feature (applicable to client-trusting FPS primarily), and people have used to do bad things in DAoC.
