Hello. This passed week or so, I've been tying to log onto the game which was just on my task bar but not coming up on screen. When I went to the ctrl-alt-delete to bring up task manager, it would state "Program not responding" After so many attempts, I finally deleted the game and reinstalled it. Still it's not responding. I checked my cpu and vid card, and all is working fine. I don't know what to do, or what to check, and was wondering if anyone can help me out here, because I'm unable to log onto any of my four accounts with eve-online...Thanks

Click EVE on your task bar so it's selected. Now press Alt+Enter to switch to/from windowed mode and the client should appear. If that isn't it, I don't think I can help.

Thanks for your responses and help. I did press alt-enter and the game attempted to come up, but went all the way over to the left side of my screen out of site, and I went back to cntrl-alt-delete to bring up my task manager which was now stating that the program is running, only It's not on my screen. Boy, I'm lost here so I guess that I'll fill out a patition as directed by staff as posted. Again, thanks for the responses and help....Betty

Hello again. I want to update you guys. As per your istructions, I did go to vid card web site and down load drivers, as well as deleting the cash, and settings folder for eve online, but I still unable to log onto game.

I would log onto game which will not open. I then go to Cntl-alt-delete and task manager reads "program not resoponding" I then press "Alt-Enter" and again, the game appears to pop up, only goes all the way to left side of screen and out of sight. I again Press "Alt-Delete" and now it reads "program running" Only it's not on my screen. I guess that I'll have to wait for petition response from CCP while I go through eve-online game withdrawals. If CCP is uable to solve problems, I'll have to take the computer to a computer repair shop only to get ripped off by it's gready owner who takes advantage of computer illiterates as myself.
Again, thanks for you help. If anyone has any other suggetions, please feel free, i'm open....Again...Thanks...Betty

ok if a window goes off the screen,
win XP
1. right click the icon in the taskbar and select 'Move' - making sure not to move the mouse pointer at all after selecting move (or restore 1st to get it out of minimised);
2. then, hold down left ctrl + tap cursor arrow right, let go of ctrl and now the window will attach itself to the mouse cursor so you can move it around via moving the mouse.
3. left click when u are happy with the position to drop the window there.

Win vista/Win7
If you are using vista/win7 do the same but hover over the taskbar icon and select the window with rmouse when it pops up in the preview thumbnail window then you will get the move option u can use with step 1.
Thats how u reposition windows that have gone off-screen :)

Just a thought, but can your monitor support a larger resolution than your current? If so, try putting that up a notch. The client might be just slightly off the edge. Not sure if it could work, but also try right clicking the task bar when the client has zoomed off and selecting 'Move'. That puts your mouse on the title bar, and might let you drag the client back.

Edit: Didn't know about that ctrl+arrows thing... Laughing

Did you try to set up your display for 2 monitors and put the "other" monitor as the main one?

If so then it may still be trying to use the (now) missing one. Have a look at Your Vid Card control panel.

Hello to all again. I just wanted to update all as to my "direct3d error" problem.I have the gforce 9800 graphics card. As per your instructions I went to nvidia site and had my computer "Auto scanned for the latest drivers, and a message would always come up "The latest drivers are already installed, no action required. So, naturally I thought that it wasn't a driver issuse.

Then I remembered that a bout a week or so ago I installed an older game from 1993 called MYST (A puzzle game) and that game would only work with an older version "quick time" so I downgraded quick time so I could play that game while my chars. were training in eve-online.

So it seemed that it was a graphics problem after all, so I upgraded Quick time to a more current version, but still eve-online wouldn't play, and I thought that I may have a virus, so I ran so
many programs and no virus was detected.

So, back to nvidia, only this time I manually looked up the geforce 9800 series and installed the latest drivers (I didn't let that site auto scan for the latest drivers). I then downloaded the drivers, and after I restarted my computer BAM!!!! Eve-online started working again! Happy! Happy! Happy! I'm now downloading all of the eve-online updates, and can't wait to fly again.

As it turned out, and a lesson learned, never auto scan for drivers. Anyway, being you guys were so helpful, I just wanted to take some typing time out to simply say thanks for your helpful responses. I hope that if any players have a simular problem this may posting may help. Again, thanks to all, be well....Betty

Now I feel like digging Myst up again. Neutral

I loved Myst. That said, after being spoiled by fully 3D games for the last 12 years, Myst hurts to play. :S

There is however, if you can find it, Real Myst. It was a full 3D refresh of the game and was ok to play.

There's also so many good flash puzzle games online now you could spend the rest if your life playing them.

Did you perhaps turn down your 3D acceleration manually to make Myst run?

My EVE acts just like you described when I forgot to turn it back up.

RMB on desktop - > properties - > settings (advanced button here) and then go to troubleshoot in the new window and slide that slider to the far right.
