Not used EB but looks like a good alternative to giving an API to your corp. Many corps will ask for their members API and I've always felt it to be a major intrusion on my privacy, next time someone asks for my API I'll sign up to EB and let them see the information they need without giving them the ability to snoop on my wallet.

Only skimmed the thread so apologies if this has already been mentioned, seems like a useful function though.

Unfortunately what a corp is interested in when they ask for your API is primarily who your alts are, and their corp histories.

I agree.

The last thing we need is to have more people signing up to a site that is barely functioning at the amount of users it has now.

This is a handy site for character dealers. When it works.

Evemon is good for everything else.

I would recommend not to use it except for character sales until it becomes more stable. Else we sellers will have nothing since the loss of Ineve and Evesheet.

If there are reds pretending their cool by afk cloaking I'll look up eveboard to see if they are silly enough to have their skills up. I did once find a guy who was slow chasing a roaming gang - he was seen in a typhoon before he cloaked up (lol at that by itself), he had t2 large autocannons trained, did not have missiles trained and did not have t2 large artillery. Also had high shield skills and low armour skills.

Easy kill, thanks eveboard

That's the default level I train all skills I don't plan on using Twisted Evil
(you might notice I have no L1 and no L2 skills, and when I do, it's only one and doesn't last long)
EDIT: I'm a skillcount ho' Razz

Last time I mined was a loooooong time ago (was it maybe 2 years ? more ? less?), when I was testing out some of the mining missions.
The most expensive mining ship I ever purchased was a Retriever. Yup, not even a Covetor. And I do have the skills to fly a Hulk.
Very Happy

Good lord, I hope not. If anyone wants to spy, they would have no problems moving that char to a clean account, or moving their alt(s) to an account that nobody has the API info for. Looking at their skills and corp histories are the big two, for me. No need to pick up a pilot who's skills are a disaster, or who corp hops ever 10 days. It also helps you weed out people with 15m of their 20m SP in industry, when you are asking for PVP pilots. This is where sites like eveboard do come in handy. It's easier to click that link than to add the api info to evemon.

When I applied to Dead Terrorists, they wanted my API for exactly that - to check my alts. Of course, they wanted me to disclose all of my accounts and all of my APIs too. And that's ****ing crazy talk. **** no - I don't care who you are you don't get access to my money making alts' APIs.

Needless to say, I didn't join up with DT even though I really liked them.

Why would I want to use eveboard?

Regardless of the security features advertised on the shiny brochure, I've still given my details to someone - or some people - I don't necessarily trust.

Precisely this, anyone expecting me to give out even my limited API to them is ******ed, anyone worth there salt infiltrating to be a spy is going to have a clean character for it, simple as. My alts are my business, not anyone elses.

As to EVEBoard, yes I use it for exactley this, someone wants to see my skills as and when I apply for whoever I'll make it public to see my skill's, simple as really. Anyone wanting to know how much isk I have, who my datacore farming alts are, etc. on this acct can go do one tbh.

I already told you why you might probably want to use it (and I'll repeat it in a sec, maybe add some more reasons), but I'm not a mindreader to know what you personally consider worth using or not, and that's why I'm asking.

Reasons to use it:
* all the nifty statistics
* as alternative for EVEMon (including the caching for when the EVE API is down) on machines you don't have (or can't have, or don't want to have) EVEMon on
* so much easier to remember a very short and easy link (and maybe also password) than to remember API details

Reasons to NOT use it:
* don't need it
* too lazy to bother securing it
* above-EVE-norm paranoia

It's not really paranoia if THEY are really out to get you... it's just caution Twisted Evil
...but then again, it is paranoia if "they" don't really exist (yet // for the time being, anyway). Laughing

How could anyone need it? (Other than, as mentioned, for the pernicious practice of selling characters (which I hate to see supported in any way, shape or form.))

I, for one, *hate* to add characters that are not mine to EVEMon, for various reasons which I don't feel need getting into right now. I do get the occasional request to "look at the skills, tell me what I should train", and I get it often enough to make it annoying to go through EVEMon.
I might also occasionally want to check somebody's skills (not necessarily mine) from a machine that doesn't even have EVEMon installed. Or the EVE API could be down for the moment while EVEBoard is still up and has the data cached.
Also, I like the statistics. I like them a lot, actually.
Quote:

Did I mention I like the statistics ?
And do you know statistics have this funny way of being more accurate when more people are included in them ?
