Okay so after coming back to the game after several years (re-joined in early May of this year), I noticed that they changed the intro soundtrack. No big deal, obviously. However, for nostalgia's sake, I wanted to hear that particular track again. So I searched the Internet . . . YouTube, etc. . . . couldn't find it. They had others but I couldn't find the original one, the first one.

So after a couple weeks of playing, one day I noticed that -- woah, there it was! Playing from the juke box. However, I only realized it right at the end and then when it switched tracks (had it on shuffle) I couldn't figure out which track it was in the jukebox.

So then today, I heard it again! And this time, it was Track 49 - "Borderlines". Cool! So I figured now I know which track it is. But then I realized something odd. "Borderlines" is only 4:56 long, and it was at 7 - 8 minutes into the track. Strange.

So then when it went to the next track, I replayed "Borderlines" and it was gone again! So, basically, that one particular music track, the original opening to Eve, randomly inserted itself into the Jukebox. I don't know how or why or if that is an intended feature or what.

So I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if anyone knows where this mystery track is located? How can I extract it to be able to play it in the jukebox? Makes me remember the good ole days of Eve back in 2003-2004 :)

If you saved your old client downloads like me on dvd-r's you'll just need to d/l Triexporter (link) or google it to find a valid download, and open the game files and export the mp3's and then go listen on your ipod/mp3 player etc. when ever you like,

edit: for instance in red moon rising (2005) they removed I believe 3-4 tracks and added a bunch of techno ones for plex's that seem to be made in reason 4.0 with a few fm8 vst presets i noticed.

That's an awesome link --- but it's incomplete! I know that theme music is buried in the current game somewhere because it has now played TWICE in my jukebox --- can you or a colleague point out where it can be found? I'd love to have that original track in my playlist.

Has this been the same in 2003? Cos I haven't been in the beta, but the rotating logo really seems to remind me ...

Also, funny downtime 16-17 GMT. Cool

I don't recall that downtime or the rotating logo. But the music brings back nostalgic memories!

I agree, if that track is available, can someone say where it is?

Next question.

If one were to theoretically replace the current intro with the original 2003 theme ("Stellar Shadows"), how would one go about doing so? -- the file being stellar_shadows.ogg .

Well, Program Files/CCP/Eve/res/Audio has a lot of .ogg files. I suppose one of those .ogg files is the intro music, but you'd have to figure out which one, then replace it (renaming stellar_shadows.ogg to whatever the intro music is called in that folder now, ofc).

And doing so would ~technically~ be a violation of the EULA (modification of client), and I'm pretty sure the game figures it out and "fixes" it back to the correct music, so you'd have to change it a lot.

also.. the /Jukebox directory in there has a nice file called "00_WARNING_-_DO_NOT_MODIFY_OR_REPLACE_FILES_IN_THIS_FOLDER".. I lol'd... Laughing

Haha, yep which is why I couched the question as . . .if someone, (not me, of course), were to be so inclined as to want to theoretically change the intro sound track . . . Wink

I will give it a try and see if I can figure out which one it is.

The only way to figure it out, as far as I can tell, is to listen to the intro music, then listen to all of those tracks and figure out which one it is... Confused Ewww..

Also, I remember a thread about a guy who changed the splash screen, and the client actually changed it back after a little while (a couple days)... So have fun Razz
