so you CCP give ships back to new player to get them in eve but for old time player that pay the game for years you dont give ships losed because of lag double standards for the win Quote: For our EVE test case, we initially chose to file a ticket stating that we couldn't leave our newb corporation (the game doesn't let you do this, i.e., you can't be unguilded, you'd have to join a player corp or form your own). We submitted our ticket in-game around 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday. We submitted a second ticket (on a separate account) a couple hours later due to the lack of any sort of confirmation or response on the first ticket.
The second ticket was a lost item simulation similar to the Darkfall test, only this time we deleted one of our ships (it was only a T1 frigate, EVE vets, so stop squirming). As of press time, we have received a response on the second ticket but not the first.
EVE surprised us in this case, as we've played the game off and on over the years and received fairly prompt responses to tickets on a couple of occasions. The good news is that the in-game submission process is first-rate. In fact, it really should be so easy in all MMORPGs. The bad news, obviously, is the fact that nearly two days elapsed without so much as a confirmation of receipt message. We finally heard back from GM Blanton at approximately 1:00 p.m. Monday with regard to the second ticket, and he helpfully restored our deleted frigate while providing a warning for future incidents. "Please be more careful in the future as this is not a service we can normally offer," he wrote. He also followed up with a final message after we updated the petition with our thanks.

The logic that a new player needs all the help, advice and support they can get seems pretty sound to me. The GM just used their discretion, given it was a low value item and the benefit from positive customer service far outweighed the credibility of threads such as this tbh.
Job well done from CCP's point of view. I can't say I agree with your assessment of prejudice against established players on this occasion Ceaon. |

Massively aint the most reputable webpage I have ever seen... Their articles have quite often been LOL and ROFL during their best.

Well done to CCP. A GM using discretion on a low value item to improve a players gaming experience. Thumbs up.

Edited by: Cire XIII on 29/07/2010 17:51:31 I'm not sure if you're serious so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Losses affect a new players much more harshly than an older player, and Eve is full of harsh consequences.
You appear to be one of the few people that has an issue replacing a ship to new member due to a misunderstanding of game mechanics. As you play the game longer you take more and more responsibility. Maybe you never filed a petition, or made a mistake early on, but I feel CCP is absolutely right to help ween newer players into the game. (I have neither asked nor received a reimbursement from CCP for any of my newbie mistakes)
Eve is harsh, but a small degree of unequal compassion early on can create the conditions for a long term player. |

Swing and a BIG miss. From reading massively over the years, they've allways been very supportive of eve. Your comments are misguided. Just because they post an article they doesn't hold eve in the blinding light that distorts the perfect view you hold of the game, doesn't give you the right to make such baseless coment in an attempt to discredit them. Ill say again, they support eve 9 times of of 10. |

Good on ccp for helping the "noob." I agree the older players have more means and are able to coup with it better, where as it could really wipe a new player out
Not sure I really agree with those guys wasting the gm and support staff's time to "sell print" though. |

And trolling is prohibited on this forum.. I don't think anyone wants a team of robots doing the GM'ing. Discretion is a massive part of the job of moderation. Yes there's rules and yes many of them are applied with no prejudice but likewise there are occasions where better customer service can result from human judgement. Replacing a frig a new player lost through non aggressive action, which they asked to be replaced, seems fine to me. Its a personal decision based on an assessment of the petition. I'm cool with that and much prefer dealing with people who are able (and willing) to make discretionary judgements when they feel the situation warrants some leeway. |
