Years ago when you abused extended downtime mechanics to towerspam U'K out of their system, you lost any and all right to QQ about metagaming.

Im sure if UK has not used -A- atlas and others to do their their dirty work for them CVA may well have had some sympathy for UK.

The UK of today are nothing like the UK of old and so you cannot blame people for jumping up and down on the touchline when karma comes around and kicks them right between the legs.

On the point of meta-gaming. I was in a lot of fleets when U'K were taking Provi and I never saw a single instance of it from out point of view (however, we probably benefited from spies that our allies had). I did however see CVA pilots enter our POS shields and there was often a CVA spy in our Vent. - So let's stop throwing the meta-gamer label around.

However, here I have to agree with Aralis (much as it pains me), this was an infiltration via the game mechanics and therefore not the same as an account hack in any way. U'K have to take some responsibility for this and CCP really need to sort their mechanics out to make this crap happen less often. With these kind of hostile takeovers and sov dropping at a stroke when a bill goes unpaid, Eve is at risk of becoming a little pointless and alienating its most devoted players. The people I feel really sorry for are the ones who spent years building up the name of an entity from nothing, and those of us who appreciate the history of the game and some of its most long-standing corporations. I just think this sort of thing is a shame for Eve, CCP are pandering to frustrated adolescent virgins and neglecting those of us who can see beyond our own interests.

Yes, and brown nosing Hydra is such a better way to go....
Rolling Eyes

Pretty sad though when the only easy way to take space now is through a broken game mechanic that CCP seems incapable of fixing....much like fleet fights, the preferred way to take space.

Irony aside, sucking up to Hydra, Goons or [insert random alliance here] is not better. CVA was one of the last old school alliances to go. U'K had already degraded themselves to pet status, an entity that only exist because some larger and more powerful entity allows their existance. This does not make right what happened, but it explains it. Since U'K lost their special status as a RP alliance when some of of their members became very vocal on supporting your side in the larger scale of conflicts they were no longer seen as neutral and became also subject of the same treatment that others had to endure.

If they had stayed away from allying with AAA and silenced their IT fanboys then things might have not come to this point. The only winning move is to stay away from using metagaming, even if it might provide an advantage.

You miss the point. Because it is only internet spaceships and not important we don't have to win at all costs, there is nothing riding on the outcome. Eve has lasted so long in part due to its colourful history and to wreck bits of it like this is short-sighted. Will you enjoy the game more if all alliances have no meaning behind them and are all homogeneous? I personally wouldn't. I think the responsibility lies with U'K tbh for allowing this situation to occur whereas you guys just have no self-control and couldn't help yourselves.

I think this answers Jade and BD nicely - good to see there are still decent U'K pilots speaking out. This has got to really suck for the decent U'K pilots. Sad

Bitter Dog posting in defence of e-honour . . .

Looks like this was a hostile takeover from within by a disgruntled person who was offended by U'K's slip from its own standards. Think about it old U'K - you decided to let a corp of the worst trolling smacktards in Eve into your alliance because they are good at pvp. You opted for the short cut but the short cut comes with a cost - you of all people should have known this. This was never going to end well.

You make a wise point there, and have certainly put your finger on some of the crucial issues. However I think there's a bigger question that we need to answer here.

Every few months I read about a disgruntled director doing something or other to inflict pain on his alliance. But you never hear about gruntled directors... what the hell is going on here? Is it a GOOD thing or a BAD thing if I was gruntled? I feel like I WANT to be gruntled, but I don't know what it would feel like, and that lack of knowledge scares me.
