I have yet to find a simple explanation on how buying characters work, pardon as I couldn't find the sticky.

So here's what I'm asking- how does the process of buying and receiving a character done?

Is it safer in the forums as to talking a deal in game?

Is there a section in the website dedicated for Character trade/transfer that is secure?

As far as I know it goes like this:

1.You find a character in the character bazaar- tell a b/o price; if you get it you get it.
2.You wait 24 hours etc.

But what do you do after that? do you pay isk to the seller's main in game and trust him to make a transfer to his character to your account? they also pay the 20$ fee right?

Or is there a certain part in the eve website where you can work it out as a trade between isk and character- even if the deal was started in game but not the forum, I've found a pretty lucrative Character being offered to me in game but if I get the money how do I start the deal? Do I send his main isk and just pretend to wait for a transfer perhaps? Or do we both link ourselves in some part of a secured eve website solely for this trade?

Thx appreciate it

Thx but remember what I exactly said- I can't really find a solid step by step way on how it works in the sticky; just a bit confused and a personal explanation from someone brilliant would really help.

The steps are:
1. Find character in the bazaar forum. If it is a private sale, ask the character being sold to make a post stating so.
2. Reply to the post to buy out the character.
3. Send ISK to the character being sold.
4. Let seller know your login (do this in private).
That's all you need to do on your part.

Edit: Step 4.

And you need to let the seller know your account user name. That's it.

I don't think you read it very carefully, then.

So you just intend to trust the guy with the character you want to buy- by giving the isk to the character you're going to get?

I just don't see it.. what if he just forgets about the transfer after receiving your isk and runs away with the money?

You give the money to the character you're going to buy- so the guy selling has to transfer it to his main before giving it away in the transfer process.

*I thought there's a part in the eve website solely on character selling/transfer (not the forum) that's secured, just like a character transfer.

You give the money to the character you're about to buy
You wait and hope he does transfer it

There is no secured thing to do this?

If you had actually read the FAQ that allegedly doesn't contain any of the information you're looking for (but, in reality, includes fairly explicit guides on how this works), you would have noted the bit where, unlike the rest of Eve, scams related to character trading are verboten.

There we go! now why can't I just get a simple explanation about the things I put out that apparently are not found in the Faq

It's all in the bleedin' FAQ. Everything you need to know is either contained within the previously posted FAQ, or contained within something else directly linked from that FAQ. Stop being helpless.

Shut up. Everything you wanted to know was in either the stickies or the FAQ's as stated in the first few posts. Learn to read or you won't get far, but you're buying a character you don't know how to use aren't you...so It won't matter anyway. Can I have your stuff when you quit?

So, to sum it up, you reply to the character sale post and make the deal on the forums, then you send the ISK and give them your account name, and they send the character over. Scams with character sales are NOT allowed by CCP; if they scam you, you petition and CCP restores your ISK and burns them hard.

are you the alt with no pic? I can do whatever I want as long as it relates and gathers information- you are just a Moderated.Applebabeoff because you think I can't try to know someone else's perspective than a Moderated.Applebabe, no you should shut up; maybe I would get something out of generous people who would care to explain personally? and good thing they still exist.

I really thought that there was a transfer process that this could make this easier, like some sort of a secured page from eve that will basically say: which character you're going to get, how many isks- date till confirmation between two players etc.

But I guess once they can see the deal as a post (since you can't delete you're own topics) and petition if you got scammed (hopefully not) CCP deals with them

Only question is- how long does it usually take to get the petition true?

Anyone got character bazaar scammed before?

A lot of things could have been coded to be easier, but this is EVE, and this is CCP's expertise and coding brilliance you see. HTFU, as they say, bla bla bla etc etc.

As far as character scams, not sure how often they happen, but let's just say I've never seen a forum whine about someone being character-scammed. I see plenty about being scammed in-game (contracts, ninja-looting, etc), so perhaps that's an indication.

How long it takes, not sure, but I'd imagine it's pretty fast. If I were to guess, I'd say 1-2 days.
