---> make every maelstrom have 5 drones
---> make each bot send a "hello" message in corp, alliance,a random channel, and local chat every 5 seconds

---> make every maelstrom run civ shield booster, a civ remote rep, put cap rechargers to make em stable.

---> now put 6 titans. make them switch targets between different titans

Well thats just silly everyone knows you should run civilian autocannons on a maelstrom not civilian pulse lasers. Razz

I still think you guys should give this tool to the event team, so they can have an army of NPCs at their disposal who can warp, jump, and focus-fire.

I would pay EXTRA to have access to a client like that. It would be sweet to ssh to my home Linux box from work and poke around while I have some free time.

Or just doing it the classic way:

> Move North
You are now at a Stargate leading to Jita, right of you is a billboard, left of you is a cargo container
> Pickup Cargo
I don't understand what you want
> Loot Cargo
You have taken 100 Uranium Charge S. While taking it you have been aggressed by another player who starts shooting you
> Run
I don't understand what you want
...

Hate to break it to you but you are not getting the thin client or any other CCP in-house developmental tools.

Booo ! And I wanted to get somebody to code a fully functional text-mode-only interface for EVE, boo Laughing

Mandatory console-mode EVE linkage. And as far as thin client goes, my guess it's just a normal client started in console mode with a script, or an extension of the built in tools the client previously had.

But regardless, yes me too would like a thin client, would make it easier on my laptop Laughing

Heck I'd settle for a thin belly...

This is exactly the kind of stuff I worked with in 2008 when I was working at Testronic Labs.

Venus Blue remade...

I quit because CCP wasn't buying the application, but making it themselves.. that and the pay was 50% below normal Laughing

Still I get warm feelings from being "THAT" close to interacting with CCP on a professional level.

Any CCP guys reading this... my application is still on your desk you know...

Does this mean on the next mass test you will have the players vs 250 civilian laser maelstroms?

For now, no. There's a lot of routes of investigation we can tackle in the lab with this tool, and adding players to that right now would just confuse things. That said, the mass tests are still very valuable, as any fixes that come from the lab have to be vetted through the player stress of mass tests before I feel comfortable deploying them on TQ. That, of course, is in addition to all the information that QA gets out of them.

Just for laughs, its would be funny to see 250 veldbusses. OR! 250 doomsdays being fired at the same time against another titan. just saying. But this is a great approach, my suggestion would be to add drones next. After that add in missiles

Can I have a few thin clients please!

Graphics are over-rated.

It would really help me use my trader accounts while pvping on my 5 year old computer.

Hehe, CCP Sputnik's first job when he came to CCP was to work with the guys from S.Korea on the Venus Blue stuff. As you're aware it didn't take off, and you could say that the thin clients are an evolution of that initial concept.

So, no plans for a player light client version?

Truly it would be a nice thing to make having more paid accounts useful.

We should just convert eve to a MUD while we're at it. I'm sure that would be a hell of a lot easier on the server. Laughing

Looks cool... Let's just hope that the bug resides server side and is not a networking problem of some kind, otherwise the thin client won't help since I guess it'll be run locally...

I'd be okay with that outcome. Often knowing what a problem isn't is just as valuable as knowing what it is.

For instance, the test pictured showed us that 2000 civvy lasers isn't enough by itself to cause module lag. Now we'll add things in until module lag does show up, and we'll be much more informed as to the why of it. We'll also then have a reproducible situation that we can test solutions against quickly.

How many Civilian lazers does it take to gank a titan? Cause my 5k rookie fleet wants to know. Very Happy

It seems that this is the most powerful tool for debugging.
Looks very promising...
With a tool like this you can test technology and gameplay balance extremely efficiently.

Is that the "Fleet Fight in a Can" project?

I hope that CCP will use it extensively to test game design, because in order to fight lag we need a change in the nullsec sov fight mechanics...
