The corp I am a part of's CEO is a real-world-friend who used to play, but no longer does because he doesn't pay. As in it said his character is the CEO but he can't login. (un-subscribed but account not deleted)Since he cant login he cant give me control of our corp, but he doesn't want to pay to do that. Is there a way (ex. buddy system?) to let him get on for free, change me to the new CEO of our corp, then get off again w/out doing anything else? Or can he do it out of game?

Thanks

You *might* be able to have him petition CCP for 24 hours game time to reactivate with PLEX, but as I doubt he'd do that, it would **** them off immensely. Best course of action is to try to get him back into the game for a month, perhaps passively.

petition CCP, either you, or from his account. Explain the situation and ask CCP if they will transfer CEO for you.

Best would be to petition from his account, give the reason. CCP aren't ****s, and it can't hurt to try. IIRC I remember times when CCP has transferred corps from accounts deactivated for long periods of time.

If you don't mind waiting six (6) months, you can gain control of the corp by petitioning CCP. I've had to do it before. It sucked, but it got me a couple billion back that would have otherwise been floating in space to this day (assuming someone didn't wardec the corp to shoot down the control tower and take the labs and items floating around it).

Otherwise, do what everyone else said. If he's willing to log back on one more time to transfer, then do something to pay for him one more month.

if u cant ge ta hold of him youll need to take the corp with u and start a new on unless u have shares then do a vote. OTherwise youll just have to shift to new corp setup with corp mates and begin with what u have

Setup a corp paypal account see if your corp members will donate a few pounds or dollars and buy a time code activate his account and do what you need to do.

There are 3-4 ways you could try:

1. Ask your former CEO to make a petition from the forums under game play and corporation and alliances. You dont have to be subscribed to do this AFAIK. From there he can apply/ask if CCP can turn the corp over to you. Just remember: CCP dont have to do this since they usually dont involve themselves in gameplay situations, but hey. You can always ask. Ofcource, the best is if your ex ceo log in himself and do it.

2. A director/shareholder petition CCP asking to have the corp transfered. Again remember: theres a large chance CCP wont do this. PArticularily if its not a long time since the CEO left.

3. Have you got shares? if so you can always try to vote to take over the corp.

4. Create a new corporation.

When we faced this there were shares floating about, so we ran a vote for change of CEO.

Once we'd done that we petitioned CCP to get the transfer finalised.

1 Have him petition to reactivate for a day to "apply plex"
2 once account is active, switch CEO
3 don't apply plex
4 ...
5 profit!

lemme get this right.... if you're in the military and get called away for service to your country... players can petition and have your corp and assets handed over to someone else? thats pretty bull**** imo.

Let me get this right.
You're in military service and get called away for service for your country for several months. And instead of doing the strategic thing and make someone else CEO for the time being so the Corp can go on as usual you would clinge to your CEO status because else your E-Peen factor would diminish?

This logic is absurd.

To run a corp propperly you need an active CEO for very specific things which only a CEO can handle.

My best suggestion is to petition CCP about this and have your buddy ( the CEO) mail to CCP aswel in which he explains he's not returning to the game anymore and as such the CEO position is vacant.

Maybe so, but what if the CEO invested 15 billion isk in blueprints he thought was secure in his corp's hanger since he gave nobody take permissions and gave no director access out?
Reguardless of how stupid it is to try and run a corp without a CEO (obviously it is) its still HIS equipment and he clearly gave NO access to it. If the players dont like it, then they should create a new corp. Not petition for CCP to steal all of the assets.

If he is inactive, ask CCP to give you one share.

I *think* you can then try and run a vote to be CEO.

As I remember you need to hold 5%+ of the shares to apply as a CEO.
But as a Director you can take the shares, and then do a vote. :)

So as a CEO, it's usually a good idea to take the shares, so no one can boot you. Cool

No, you're absolutely right, there is no way a CEO can remove his personal BPO's and assets from corp hangars to make sure they stay in his posession.
If the fear of losing personal BPO's in corp hangar is the only reason to clinge onto the CEO seat while one is going away for several months than you clearly never thought about options. Hence you're not qualified as CEO anyways.
