There is something in the latest Sisi build for skillpoint allocation and it looks like we are getting 100k to apply. Obviously this is the test server we are talking about so it's not final. Seems about right however.

You have to stop training to apply the points and you can choose how many ponts to apply to each skill.

Typically this isn't actually working as on hitting the OK button it says I don't have any points to allocate at this time. Derp.

Screenie in case you care.

100k sp seems a little high. If you figure 2200 sp per hour x the 31 hours tq was down that adds up to 68200 sp. No complaints though if they do give us 100k sp. ugh

Gifting 100k skillpoints as compensation for the extended downtime isn't a big deal as of itself but it definitely sets a dubious precedent.

I know it's not popular to have faith in CCP but I really believe this will not be used often at all.

One awesome thing I could see this being used for would be removing the learning skills like they've wanted to do for so long but haven't had a way to do it efficiently. Just give them whatever SP they had from the learning skills and give them that to move into other stuff.

They never said 100k sp will be given, so this number is probably only for testing.

When a fanboi like Chribba says this, it's the equivalent of me saying 'CCP, this idea is idiotic. Buy a clue for a change.'

Horrible idea. Horrible precedent. I don't want your stupid free stuff and I don't want anyone else to have it either. What's next, free titans? Oh wait, you're already giving PL that.

Probably this. Learning skills are a huge turn off for newer players.

Sadly for you eve is not all about you.

The good news is however i can help you with your first problem, dont apply it and you dont get your stupid free stuff, while i can still have that free stuff. Isnt that a win-win situation?

If poping the learning skills attracts more players, I'm all for it. The "we had to suffer, so should they" argument is petty. This is a game and learning skills are not fun.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Subbed accounts "earn" skillpoints per hour and you get to apply them however you see fit. If there is a pool that accumulates them the only difference is you don't have to decide in advance which skill to spend them on. As far as I can see it's not really a big deal.

Forget about paying for SP. If they add in SP redistribution on a character it would be ugly. Respecs are a very very bad idea in a game where learning stuff takes years. They destroy the whole point of spending time to learn skills.

Well lets consider a player who has devoted years to learning all the skills required for an Industrialist, mining/refining for example. After a couple of years doing that he/she decides to change to PVP. Would it be so bad to allow them to reallocate those SP's, PROVIDING that it is not an instant thing (takes say 25% of the time it would normally take to learn all the skills from scratch and that you can only reallocate them once or twice a year.

I myself am new to this and still choosing my character's direction, but I could see something like that working for those who have played for many years.

It would be another CCP's decision declining value of the decisions taken in game. Like attribute revamp.

Decisions without consequences. And instant gratifications. Is it still EVE?

I don't mind small amounts, or even refunding learning skills. I think that any kind of wholesale re-spec would be potentially disasterous, even if such a remap were allowed infrequently (like annually).

However, rather than giving people instant piles of SP, more in line with the spirit of Eve's learning system would be to apply double speed learning like newb characters, X number of SP. So instead of "Here's 100k SP" something like "You have double speed for the next 100k SP."

Im not so sure about this ... One of the main reasons I stayed on EVE after the trial was that you cant buy experience ... sure you can buy money - but still the learning curve was what made me interested in EVE. The challenge of succeeding with the EVE LC was very exciting.

Plus I just spent over 3 months straight maxing all of my learning skills >.>

Probably this. Learning skills are a huge turn off for newer players.

Turn off, turn off, tss, who said training skills got you a hard on anyway ? I got my first hard on when I completed my first mission by the way
They already have like 1.6M SP at twice the speed. Hell if you are scared for them not having a hard on give them 3M 6M 10M twice speed I don't care how much, if you really want to hold their hand. But imo, don't remove learning skills, they are with implants & remaps, stuff that don't make this game too flat. If you remove them, almost everybody will learn stuff at the same speed, everybody will basicly be clones of each other, with the same attributes, minus the remap.
It is also important not to reduce thoses levels 5 and say they just are worth 768k SP, so lets remove them and give them 768k that is just not true. When we click "learn" this skill, we know we are wasting 768k SP yes, but they also have a plus value over time... I didn't learn it to get -768k I learn it for the plus value, that is ticking every damn second of the day... like everybody else. So it's worth more than 768k to me. And if it was only worth 768k and nothing more, I would have never learned it in the first place.

I'm all for being more friendly to new players, but have no mercy to older players crying because they don't have thoses skills...And of course somebody of 2003 will tell you "yes remove them", obviously they have them, and sucked all the juice out of it: But I'm very well interrested (as a new player) in catching up to some who don't take their training skills seriously. If you remove them, I, and thoses who have thoses skills won't be able to catch up on anybody. Nobody should be forcing new players to learn them, it's not something you must do on day one or you are screwed, the real pain is all thoses people inciting new players to learn them first hand. Maybe give all new players all lvl 3...that way people will tend not to tell them to "get learning skills right now, or you are screwed"...

I don't want a flat game, with everybody having the same attributes, that's dumb.

If they ever was going to remove learning skills, I would accept it, but it would be very important for them to make a notice well ahead of time, to not screw people that just learn them. 6months at the very least. Because we have tight shedules often on 12months because of the remaps, if you change that, you screw our plans...especially people that learned thoses learning skills recently with that plus value close to 0.

Maybe that SP bank, will be used to give new players some extra points. Like for example 1000 extra point in the bank for new players, after each day. So players creating a character today would have 1000 points in the bank, and thoses creating one tomorrow will have 2000 points, and so on...
So maybe in a year or 2, new players will have enought skill point in their banks that they will be able to buy all learning skills right away, and so you people will stop crying. That's a solution, I'm being constructive, you are not.
That 1000 could be more, it's just an idea... knowing that every active character gets like 30 to 60k point a day, that's really not a lot...

But I rest my case, I'm against removing learning skills, especially without any prior notice.

Heh, 100k SP is a drop in the bucket when I need millions on the level 5's currently training.

There is nothing worth while left training that is in the peanuts range so going to go with same response I had to PI: "Meh".

The tool itself does have some rather nifty potential applications down the road I suppose so not a complete waste of resources Very Happy

I could also see a few beginners missions, that award some SP... or maybe mission at all... I'm not saying 20k point, but a handful of them. I hear they are going to revamp missions in the future... that could be part of it.

The worst thing would be a PLEX thing, store of SP, that would be really weird...

I also see a way to give SP to another character maybe. So instead of crying, you will be able to donate thoses lvl 5 learning, to your fellow new players, you seem to care so much about...
Donate all level 5 learning with your own skill points to every new trial, if you really want them to have a "hard on"...

This is true. My alt, with +4 implants, if she was training a MEM/INT skill would hit 2650 or so. Probably 2700-2800 range with +5s.

Perhaps they went by the average skill points trained per hour, and since I am willing to bet most people min/max their attributes, 100,000 might be closer to proper?

Plus it's a nice round number everyone can enjoy. Very Happy

I have all of the advanced to four(except charisma, doesn't help me kill stuff). And CCP has been wanting to remove it for a long time if you search back, but they didn't have a way to do it without bending over older players. It's not all about you either.
