So I have decided to train for the transport > freighter > JF route, and my question is which racial line-up is considered 'the best'?

I know this can be a fairly empty phrase, but I am really just wondering which of the slightly varying qualities of each line-up turns out to be most useful.

e.g. gallente cargo space or minnie agility etc.

The Gallente have the biggest industrial

Amarr have a transport with 2 high slots

Caldari have biggest freighter/JF

It really depends on which ship type you want to use most if you want to fly the frighter/JF alot then go for the Caldari line up.

As said above, there are various concerns to address. However the two best IMO (as a professional, full time hauler), are the Caldari and Minmatar. Caldari have the largest cargo for freighter and JF. Minmatar have the fastest, most agile freighters/JF but the lowest cargo (the JF also has the fastest cap recharge, which can be important). Gallente (itty 5) has largest hold for industrials, but at Industrial V, you can be in a freighter in less than a week. To me that always seemed odd. The Minmatar transport (Prowler) is the only one with 2 high slots, which means its the only one that can fit a cloak and probe launcher for WH work. Its also wicked agile for running gatecamps. The Caldari transport (Crane) has the largest volume, but is not as agile.

If you plan on doing a lot of runs in a freighter, the Fenrir is significantly faster overall, esp AFK where its higher sub warp velocity really shines. Personally, I've trained both races for maximum flexibility.

Thanks for the replies.

What is so bad about the amarr and gallente freighters/JFs?

This is incorrect. The ship she is referring to is the Prowler, a Minmatar ship. Just clearing that up so you don't go Amarr thinking you'll have an extra high.

There's nothing bad, but nothing spectacular either. They're both in the middle ground. None of them are a real mistake to train and fly, but the Charon and Fenrir are optimal for either lots of cargo or fast travel. I guess by the same token, they balance speed and cargohold. At the JF level, the EHP and other 'middle factors' might be worth considering, since its more likely you'll need to survive an attack at some point. But realistically, as soon as your pointed its over if you don't have backup/escort.

As a full time courier pilot, the Fenrir is the best possible choice for me. It saves a lot of time overall.

There is no best. They are all different. Compare them yourself.

Try EVE-Search.COM as there have been many threads on this topic.

Pick Amarr if you can't decide or are too lazy to search and read. Amarr is all-around a pretty good choice.

I personally have 3 accounts with Caldari Industrial 5, and a 4th is working on it. I own 2x Charons, 2x Cranes and 2x Bustards. Why I chose Caldari: largest cargo freighter (Charon), Deep Space Transport with most EHP and cargo (Bustard), decent Blockade Runner (10,214 m3 and warps in 4 seconds). My second choice was Amarr solely because of the Prorator Blockade Runner, but for me that wasn't enough alone to tip the balance.

Jump Freighters
* Caldari is largest but Minmatar is the most fuel efficient.

* Cargo: Caldari > Gallente > Amarr > Minmatar
* Speed: Minmatar > Amarr > Gallente > Caldari
* Gallente have the sturdiest (I think)
* Minmatar best AFK, Amarr good AFK, Charon best ATK.

Deep Space Transports:
* Caldari have the sturdiest vs. cargo (max 30k m3 T1 rigged).

Blockade Runners
* Amarr have the largest (slowest in this setup) and most flexible.
* Caldari have the sturdiest vs. cargo
* Minmatar have the fastest, and only one with two high-slots (only BR that can't haul a cruiser hull)
* All of them have a sweet-spot fitting around 7,500 m3

* Gallente have the alrgest at level 5
* Minmatar have the largest at level 4
* Amarr have largest at levels 1-3
* Caldari have the Battle Badger (sturdy or loads of ECM)

Cargo Comparison which I don't think is accurate since the Crane max cargo is wrong (should be 10,214 m3)

Excellent information guys, thanks alot.

I will continue to mull this over, but it seems I will probably head in the minnie direction to get the more agile Fs/JFs.

As I already have gall ind. V I will still have the option of large cargo transports.

I can fly amarr transports and freighters, and here's a few reasons why. The Prorator, it has 2 High slots for a cloak + salvager or probe launcher, it can fit a MWD, and can hold 10,900 m3 with rigs + cargo expander. Its not the fastest thing in the world but your real defense is cloaking so if your caught in a bubble, your only way to survive is not getting decloaked. The providence is nice for a few reasons, it has a nice middle ground between speed / cargo capacity. The Ark is about the same thing as well, but its a jump freighter, you get it for the jump capabilities and can make multiple trips quickly with relative safety. One other thing about amarr industrial ships, the Bestower is the best skill training time to cargo capacity ratio of all industrial ships. With amarr industrial 2 you can hold 27,000 m3 worth of stuff with GSC's and a rigged bestower, which is quite nice for high sec mining / hauling.

Also, the amarr industrial ships are the coolest looking of all industrial ships. Providence / Ark looks amazing in comparison to the other freighters and jump freighters. So its nice to have a ship that looks cool when flying it around, rather than a giant flying space beetle.

The Prorator has 1 high slot. This link has some useful info that might help you make a final decision:

How exactly does the minmatar one become more fuel efficient when all 4 uses exact same amount?

Minmatar one looks the best, also a thing to consider ;)

transport > freighter > JF route

The way you write this makes it look like transport ships are a prerequisite for freighters. They're not; you go straight from industrials to freighters.
