Ive been playing EVE since Open Beta, alot has changed in this time, some good some bad but mostly good.

The music in EVE is Overlooked! its great! Modern and Mysterious but as you get more and more into the game, you get serious, need to concentrate! the slightest sound can alert you to a change in whats going on around you and pay attention to Voice Comms. Even more so back in the day, I remeber back when a hostile entered your (tiny) grid the game would make a bleep (anyone else remeber this?) this could give you a heads up and mean the difference between getting ganked and not.

Once you got over the wonder of EVE and became more compitent everyone just switches off the sound.Crying or Very sad Im sat here now 111million SP later listening to the music again and Im having a funny wave of nostalgia flow over me, I remember the music used to make the game even more wonderous and mysterious, when I first started to play in OB I ran a Gal toon in my little Imicus frigate, ninja mining Bistot running from the rats hiding from the PK'rs saving for my Tristan and one day a Thorax, EVE just felt a incomprehensibly HUGE and scary place I still cant put my finger on the words for the feeling I had for EVE back then.

I guess its like being a child, I sometimes wish i could go back 20 years and do the things and have the feelings I did back then before life experience stepped in and things just dont feel as great or as interesting as they used to. Im not having a dig at EVE though, the team behind it are unlike any ive ever seen in the game world, they took in player feedback and built on it, thye didnt just finish the game sit back and wait for the bank account to fill up like other MMO's.

I rememeber logging in when EVE went live and only seeing a couple thousand people online at peak times, now its crazy you can have more people than that just in Jita. I dont know what im trying to get at here, I guess im just trying to put into words how a simple thing like turning eve's music back on after a few years can spark such emotion and memories.

I guess Im just in a nostalgic mood and would like to reminisce of the good times and features in EVE and just going to reel off some of my fondest ones.

Jump in points (before gate to gate jumps you would just appear in the middle of nowhere, perfect for trapping people).
Cruise missiles in kestrels rifters ect.
8 MWD Scorps.
No sentrys below 0.5 (oh boy thos were the days in OBE).
Torp Blackbird with frigate agility and uber Multispec jammers.
Sensor damps crashed everyone to desktop.
Bleep sound when hostiles entered grid.
Tiny grids easy to hide and ambush.
Torps AOE killing the rest of your torps and killing you.
Damage mod stacking (no stacking penaltys back in the day)
M0o The Mara Passari massacres.
Lord Zap
Vegetas creepy voice.
J0rt
The Rev
Biomass The Sarum prime massacres.
Hupa
Havocide
Numberone
TankCEO
Spaceinvaders.
Jade Constantine.
Yulai incident LOL.
Drunkenmaster.
Winning a Silver Magnate in first ever CCP Tournament with TankCEO and then stupidly following his advice and swapping it for now worthless loot Thanks Tank LOL!

Thats all i can remeber right now, but anyone remeber any cool stuff i missed out feel free to jog my memory!

Hanns out

Amen! Cruise Crow was crazy, definitely spurred CCP into nerfing Cruise on frigs, until stealth bombers but they just sucked :(

I think Capitals also ruined the game a bit for me, When HAC's first came out also had so much fun ganking people in Pure Blind and Fade.

I must say , i miss a few of the fun stuff we had in the "early" days of EVE.

-bouncing between giant veldspar rocks forever and ask a Dev to put me somewhere where i can fly again
-gate "bowling" :D
-Yulia market
-highway (not really, but at least you got to somewhere faster)

Been playing since Beta6 and still love this game ugh

Ah, me.. I'm only a five year player, so people experienced a good bit more than me.

But I'm also small time, and a lot of what keeps me in EVE is the feeling of being a small fish in a bloody massive pond. I guess there are only two things I miss from my early days...

1: Engine trails. I really do miss those something horrid.

2: This ones actually pretty recent. The stargate 'idle wormhole' animations that were around for a short time after Trinity 2.0 went active. You can still see them in Trinity's trailer.. they really added something, for me, somehow.

Dev or not he had some skill with small ships. His interceptor piloting was second to none.
