Ive been playing EVE since Open Beta, alot has changed in this time, some good some bad but mostly good.
The music in EVE is Overlooked! its great! Modern and Mysterious but as you get more and more into the game, you get serious, need to concentrate! the slightest sound can alert you to a change in whats going on around you and pay attention to Voice Comms. Even more so back in the day, I remeber back when a hostile entered your (tiny) grid the game would make a bleep (anyone else remeber this?) this could give you a heads up and mean the difference between getting ganked and not.
Once you got over the wonder of EVE and became more compitent everyone just switches off the sound.
Im sat here now 111million SP later listening to the music again and Im having a funny wave of nostalgia flow over me, I remember the music used to make the game even more wonderous and mysterious, when I first started to play in OB I ran a Gal toon in my little Imicus frigate, ninja mining Bistot running from the rats hiding from the PK'rs saving for my Tristan and one day a Thorax, EVE just felt a incomprehensibly HUGE and scary place I still cant put my finger on the words for the feeling I had for EVE back then.
I guess its like being a child, I sometimes wish i could go back 20 years and do the things and have the feelings I did back then before life experience stepped in and things just dont feel as great or as interesting as they used to. Im not having a dig at EVE though, the team behind it are unlike any ive ever seen in the game world, they took in player feedback and built on it, thye didnt just finish the game sit back and wait for the bank account to fill up like other MMO's.
I rememeber logging in when EVE went live and only seeing a couple thousand people online at peak times, now its crazy you can have more people than that just in Jita. I dont know what im trying to get at here, I guess im just trying to put into words how a simple thing like turning eve's music back on after a few years can spark such emotion and memories.
I guess Im just in a nostalgic mood and would like to reminisce of the good times and features in EVE and just going to reel off some of my fondest ones.
