Seriously, i could write a whole 10 page story on how much this games amazed me over the past week. I went from Ultima online, through a slew of other half assed games, and than finally onto World of Warcraft. For the last while ive been looking for a new game, and EVE finally caught my eye. I took CCP up on their 14 day free trial offer, and after 3 days upgraded it to a payed subscription simply because i knew my computer would have to blow up to keep me off this game.

Honestly im just posting this for any other new players like me who may not have tried the game yet. You will NOT be dissapointed i promise you that (as long as you have a place in your heart for sci-fi, exploration, lasers, flying, PVP, strategy, business, community, alliances, loyalty, pirates, hacking, stealing, or ANY single one of those)

I havent read much into the forums but i did see my share of criticism on the first page (this is not a bad thing) but despite that i can say that from what and who ive encountered in-game so far, even the community is downright awesome :)

Nefalex,

Welcome to EVE and we are delighted that you are enjoying it so much Smile

I quickly broke your OP into paragraphs as, occasionally, some people prefer to focus on the lack of paragraphs. Hope you don't mind.

Hello young padavan, welcome to EVE.
May I ask, what kind of content in particular did amaze you so much ? Was it PVE or PVP ? Did you stay in highsec, or was the awesomeness you described in found in lowsec or 0.0 ?

Seriously though, welcome to EVE :)

I too, have gone through a similar list of titles which you described, only to end up picking up EVE again about a year ago. It's still one of a kind.

Welcome to EVE!

Hope you find a good newbie friendly corp to speed along the learning process. Also you'd do well to learn about all the scams out there. Keep your guard up if you want the iskies to stay in your wallet.

I long for the magic that was starting out in Eve.

I remember the fun teamspeak, being in a little 30 strong pvp corp, and doing well sometimes and getting our asses handed to us at other times. The sense of achievement when we got a new ship etc.

Fast forwards about three years. I wish I had that fire again.

Why does this sound like restaurant reviews written by the owner? You know the ones: "Great atmosphere and amazing food at great prices!", but no specific details about the personal experience.

Welcome to EVE. In time, you will find much to complain about, especially when you discover that the top echelon of players here are merely individuals who have discovered innovative ways to exploit hordes of ambitionless, trigger-happy idiots and that everything CCP promises you will eventually be delivered in a severely deformed state compared to what they had originally planned for.

Nefalex,

Identical story m8. I was desperately seeking a game which would allow for deep character development and open ended game play. NOTHING had it till I came to EVE.

One of the first things that amazed me... The news ticker on the right when you're on the character selection screen is reports of what's actually happening in EVE and you as a player have an effect on what is displayed there. In other words, instead of a Developer writing the game for you and handing you a dungeon, you chose the fate of the universe and how it's shaped.

If you get into any RP at all, start reading the Intergalactic Summit. Some of the people there go overboard *cough* Jade and co. *cough*, but it's interesting to watch people practically write... no wait, they ARE writing the lore that is EVE :)

Anyway, get a second account quick. Dual boxing in this game is a must. Shop around and see if Steam has an offer for a game.

Oh, and if you have any questions, please contact me in-game. I'm also new to EVE, well actually, most people say they're still new years into this game.. and have a bunch of newer players who I mentor. Basically, I had mentors when I came in and as soon as someone new comes along, it's our job as semi new players to pay forward the knowledge passed to us.

I am working in an alliance to build in 0.0 space. It caters to newer players and if you ever need advice, I can invite you to our public channel (or you can just contact me and ask :p )

Anyway good luck in EVE.

Find a new corp that does the things you like? I'm having a blast in faction warfare atm with all the little petty rivalries that spring up on both sides. Catching the smack talker in a clever trap and podding him mid smack is rather satisfying. I'm sure there are pockets of fun pvp all over the place for players that like smaller closely knit roams with a bit of banter on the side instead of the iron clad comms silence for large fleets where only the fc can speak no matter what. Granted that the rigid coms policy for those massive fleets are actually nessasary its just not some peoples cup of tea for pvp.

It's a lot like losing your virginity (this may be a taboo subject for a few of the neckbeards here..)...

When you first lose it and the few times after, it's really exciting and almost uncomfortable. You're nervous about what you're doing and where to touch. You dream to think of ways to do it differently next time. Then, after a bit. Sometimes they'll switch it up on you.... Some bite, scratch, some like to be hugged afterwords. The trick, as in Sex is to find a new position. If you're not married, find a new partner.

Same with EVE. And the best part, if you're not happy or bored with your current home. It's your $15 a month, play as you want to. Not as how some Corp defines your time should be.

This is probably a bad analogy. However, this is what happens when you are writing something after just waking up.

Wat? Most of the youngish corps I fleet up with would kill to have a player with 38mil sp. With that amount you should be well into maxing your fitting skills and have access to all the t2 mods and useful ships that go with whatever races you can fly.
