OK in the first few weeks (and beyond) of Tyrannis we are going to have the biggest Turkey shoot of all time in Eve.

Why, because everything you do to transfer goods between your Spaceport and the Planet must be completed both flying in space and uncloaked.

Now I can understand transferring goods from your ship to the Spaceport and Port to ship should be done uncloaked but why the heck can’t I either cloak my ship or Dock in a station and remotely control the actual transfer of goods to or from the planet. I can dock up and fire the stuff into space in a can but not via the Spaceport.

I couldn’t even fly to a safe spot and cloak while in space in the same system and control the transfer. With scanning ships down to seconds Planet Managers in 0.0 and Lo-Sec are going to get hammered by anyone out for a quick easy kill (more killboard Epeen). The insurance nerf might keep the suicide gankers away in Empire but if the price of L4 or L5 goods make it worth while they will find a way. It only needs one ship cloaked near a Spaceport to relay info and bang goes all your hard work.

There has to be some risk in this. Don't forget that Dust players should be able to attack all your stuctures in the future.

I understand there has to be risk and I accept the transfer risk but staying in one place and out of view while completing the transfer is quite another. By the time someone has switched back from ‘Planet View’ to ‘Space View’ you could already be in a pod or worse.

If I’m flying my ship I’m in control of what is happening around me and can take action but while I’m in ‘Planet View’ I have no idea who or what is sneaking up on my ship and I can’t even scan for probes. No, risk is one thing, getting blown up because you can’t see the aggressor is quite another.

maybe you should get a friend in an escort to guard you

A valid point this is after all an MMO but would you like to act as ‘babysitter’ to the Planet Manager while he warps from planet to planet to collect and transfer goods?

Would you do it for free or would you require payment in goods or isk?

In 0.0 it might take a number of ‘friends’ to keep him safe, now keeping a mining gang safe is one thing, keeping a lone Planet Manager safe and tying up PVP crews, don’t quite think the FC’s would go for that too often.

You're probably doing something wrong.

I sit at a SS to tranfer goods, then go to the Spaceport in a Blockade Runner, and only decloak long enough to trafer goods, cloak, then warp.

Just stay more than 2000m away from spaceport and closer than 2500m.
With practice it can be done fairly quickly.

It takes about ~4+ seconds for someone to be able to decloak and target you.
If they decloak, cloak up and warp if you don't have time to transfer.

If it is a cloaked dictor, align->mwd->cloak and pray.

Anyway you do it there will be risk.
This is a game about risk managment though. Wink

You can use your hotkeys while in planetary mode. So you can be cloaked, do your PI stuff, uncloak via hotkey, do your launch, cloak again via hotkey.

This opens a window of about 3 seconds to detect you and try to scan you down. You can align to a savespot and warp off immediately after leaving the planetary mode, so anyone warping to you will miss you. Or you can also activate your MWD via hotkey and anyone warping in will only see empty space with you 10-20km away from the location they may have scanned you down already cloaked up again.

Only issue would be the customs office directly, where people could set up camp, but that's what you (should) have friends for. Also you will have all necessary tactical bookmarks for your customs offices.

Just do the following, while in 0.0

A. Stay cloaked at 200km away, at a pre-setup bookmark.

B. Await until local becomes empty of enemies, then warp to your loot your treasure.

C. Warp away with a smile.

Repeat as nessary

This.
The only trick is the customs office, but in that eventuality, there are multiple planets in-system so they cant camp them all. Use a blockade runner and you can even warp cloaked. Finally, when you do launches, its a private bookmark to your launch can and they cant scan the can. Sounds fine to me.

T2 and T3 production should be done on the extraction planet. Final production (T4/5)should be done in deep friendly space (null sec) or hi-sec.

Personally I intend to use alts to (attempt) suicide ganking on myself to get concord to show up at the planet then do my transfer.

Uhhhhh that's a no no. It's a bit too late in the night for me to go hunting for the quote but i know doing that will get you in ****. Atleast it does when people pull that **** in asteroid fields, last time i checked.

you sure mate? We asked about this a while ago when we were planning some neutral alt suicide gankings of our WT. We were told that so long as we didn't keep recycling the alts once they had a KoS sec status we were fine (either stop doing it or get their sec status back up). In fact the GM said there was no problem with using trial accounts to do this either.

It has been considered an exploit. There were people that used this tactic to get concord on gates in order to avoid sucide ganking.
