Gatecamps are part of the game, will be part of the game, and should be part of the game because they are the most important tools for "economical warfare" where you stop freighters of your enemies to reach their destination.

While we do need gatecamps, it should be somewhat harder to block "all" chokepoints. While "stoping all neutrals" from entering certain parts of low sec is reasonable from 0.0 points of view, and it is easy to avoid gatecamps if you use intel, scouts, map, etc. gatecamps still create a problem.

The repeated bounce problem

Some "new" player who would have reason to try and move to low sec and accepts the risks that comes with living in low sec, detects and avoids the gate camp at his first, secound, third, fourth, fifth attempts to move into low sec space, he learned his leassion like we all did. But after a few attepmts he will decide: it doesn't worth the effort and might leave eve online for this reason.

Learning "how to avoid gatecamps" won't help him, since he already has that knowledge.and this is what makes him to aavoid gate camp and cancel his plans to move to low sec (and gradually to nullsec) and makes him leave eve for the first place.

This issue should be stoped. With the war between big powerblocks it is more than reasonable to expect more and stronger gatecamps at vital chokepoints and they are entrances to low sec. It is possible to stop these problems from happening, with any variant of the idea that would stop gatecamps at entrances to low sec by use of NPC forces (more and more sentry fire, stronger sentries at certain places, safe area with limited time concord protection around these gates only), but then 0.0 warfare would require valid chokepoints deeper in low sec space. Chokepoints can be created with systems connected with "stable natural wormholes" that lets you to transport capitals, if the systems also prevent cyno "for unknown natural reasons". These sentryfree natural chokepiints on route to regions of nullsec would replace mos of current chokepoints efficiently without hurting new player experience.

You seem to be confusing low sec with null sec.

Nullsec "gatecamps" aren't a problem, sadly the entry to low sec is often gatecamped, for valid reason.

It is the route between nullsec and highsec, and everyone would want to stop enemies from using this route. And such freights are attractive targets for pirates. Both of them are valid reasons for these gatecamps, but sadly they are at "wrong place wrong time" if we want to keep more of the new players by letting them to move into lowsec.

Sorry, forgot to switch to this char on last post.

And yes, entry to "low sec" are interesting spots.

Partly because they are important for new players who want to try low sec.

Partly because they are the last hop where you have to use a gate and cannot use cyno, etc. which makes them the best chokepoints.

These two roles cannot be fulfilled at same time since they are conflicting, and artifical separation of these roles could improve the game imho.

The key idea comes from: http://www.space-llamas.com/

But just stoping perma camps without making better chokepoints deeper is a problem...

In all my years of going into low-sec I have probly seen gate camps like 10% of the time. Just don't be a dumbass and avoid Black Rise, or any low sec close to trade hubs. Seriously!

Actually, this.

I wonder where people get that weird idea that any low sec entry is permacamped. I am inclined to think that they like to scare themselves and thus will not go to low sec no matter what.
