I was wondering if anyone had experience playing EVE with the new 13" Macbook Pro? Is the dedicated graphics in a 15" Macbook Pros REQUIRED for satisfactory EVE play?

I use both the Macintosh client and the Windows client running under Windows and Boot Camp. For intense EVE play, I tend to use the Windows client.

Any observations or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

It works but laptop really gets hot. I gave up playing on MBP 13". I use my PC laptop instead for playing Eve.

As the above poster stated, running on the 13" model is quite sufficient, though heat is a problem. I typically drill up the fans with SMC Fancontroller to it's max output of 6200rpm and it keeps it relatively warm at 90*C.

Average frames on a 13" previous gen running the Nvidia 9400M I'll get about 30fps with everything mazes outwith the exception of medium Texture Detail. It can hit 60 in open space. I'm planning to buy a bottom fan cooler to see how it works out. The 15" might be a tad better as it has dual fans and natrually run better in populated enviroments due to it's dedicated graphics.

So is this heat issue a major problem? and is this with the graphics all the way down? And is it causing problems like shutting it down or just getting hot to a point where it's annoying? How long does it take for it to get this hot? Is it still playable?

Is that on the Mac or Windows side?

I can confirm all of the above, apart from the blistering heat EVE runs perfectly well on even the 13" ones a couple of generations ago (aluminium, but no glowy keyboard).

It gets 60 fps easily on Mac, dunno about the Windows side
