What do you guys thinks? Will Tyrannis spark an (additional) interest in Eve and attract new players?

Not so sure about Dominion - it didn't have anything for new players - but Tyrannis and PI should attract a few people here and there. Now, Incarna....

character sales have dropped in value since dominion; worse than the usual 2SP inflation" - despite the brief interest in mothership pilots.

i doubt this planetary pos stuff will be able to warm anyone's heart either.
maybe it can ease the mining nerf, but it's still lots of wasted exhumer SP -.-

curious how EyjoG is going to spin this one though - i'm sure he'll find a way.

plus we're already losing people - mostly PvP'ers - to Starcraft II (beta)

I think it will greater than Dominion, but not as much as Apocrypha.

Now just wait till Incarna is out; that and Dust well integrated with EVE (hopefully), and this game will climb its player-base so high it'll be able to just kiss WoW in the ass.

Somehow I doubt that. I'd be amazed if CCP ever gets 10% of what WoW has.

Dominion seeem to if anything have raised the barrier to 0.0 players who want to move beyond just being cannon fodder.

I have many friends who'd enjoy eve if they could get out of their ships. Incarna should greatly increase subscriber numbers and bring back older players.

No, Tyrannis won't do anything to attract new players. I will only add to Eve's continuing slide into the abyss, because didnt you hear?

Eve is dying

Yes.

And it will be AWFUL.

Hundreds of thousands of zit faced pre pubescent hormonally challenged sociopathic twitch jockeys amped up on Red Bull and sugar coated sugar will runh rampant through the EvE universe despoiling and destroyinf everything in their paths.

The only way to avoid this catastrophe is to contract me all your stuff and take a month long hiatus from the game. These cretins are notoriously short in the attention span ( and other things ) and as such will lose interest and go back to WoW and STO. At that point I'll give you back your stuff.

I promise!

You are....too kind.

Regarding expansiond.. Tyrannus might increase the playerbase on former players who now see they can start toy around with planets, but I doubt so much with the pure new players, but then, who knows. With Dust 514 settling in, we mighti see some "collateral damgage" coming from dust to eve. Sadly those players will BE the twitch generation, witht heir wasd, joypads and joysticks I loathe so much. And that will start the whining on the forums: we want the same controls in EVE as we got in Dust!" lalalalala.

Now, when Incarna hit. Then we see a influx of new players! That is a not just a new expansion, its a new world in EVE taking form!

I gotta say I consider Apocrypha the peak of what the old EVE was, with Dominion and everything after it seemingly going in a completely different direction in order to expand the EVE universe.

I have high hopes for the future of the game, but it's pretty obvious the new EVE wont resemble the old one much. So I just hope I like the end result.

And to respond to the OP I have to say: No, not really.

PS : I started playing after Trinity.

This.

My biggest concern is how many new players are attracted.
It is good for the game if it grows - but a massive sudden spike in new players might cause server (hamster) performance issues. Whereas a slow to medium influx of new players should stay manageable, as it has in the past.

We know it will have low SP entry requirements (at least it's been promised). The current state at Sisi is a mix of PI's new features, which basically translates in extraction of resources towards manufacturing lines, plus hauling from the command center towards space. It's relatively easy to understand and use.

If it's developed with enough depth, it could even 'attract' new players towards the game, why not.

i think Dust and incarna will increase eve population alot.
dust players will want to play eve since it will be connected
and walking in stations is what people wanted ( for some unknown reason) for a long time.

Not to mention a sudden spike in population = more crowded universe, which is already a little overcrowded imho.

I'm not sure Tyrannis will spark a substantial rise in the player base, but !@#%, when Incarna hits, the population will explode. CCP had better be ready for that when it happens.

dust on PC, with special discounts if u have both accounts ie eve-dust.

Much more varied missions, complexes, more npc trade goods, ( for the carebears)

Expand tech 3 ship classes.

Tyrannis may be cool to some, I don't think it will attract new players, nor will it ease the pains current players have with Eve.

If Tyrannis will attract new players to eve, it still won´t be able to bring up the numbers of emo-rage quitting highsec miners, if the "insurance fraud nerf" will hit them in the a**, by bringing mineral prices near to zero.

Hope this helps.

Maybe not Tyrannis so much but I believe with a good marketing strategy Incarna could.

it'll increase a bit i guess, because with each launch of their expansions they release godlike trailers, press releases, etc...

So the game is for a short time back in the spotlights on major sites, which will make some players interested in EVE Online :)

I think it will attract SOME new players expecting huge strategic ground action while essentially it's a very minor addition to EVE. Perhaps they will also like the other things Eve has to offer, but some maybe will be dissapointed.
