Hi all

I'm sitting here wondering what is the best sub-bs Minnie ninja ratter for 0.0. I'd be looking to rat against Guristas. So far I'm thinking perhaps a Hurricane or a Vagabond, but I'm wondering if there are any pilots out there with far greater experience who could perhaps enlighten me?

Thanks Very Happy

Vaga is gonna munch though ammo. Might be best to get an arty cane or something. Try get something that minimizes ammo use, but has decent dps. Unless you can restock nearby

Ammo restock is covered, which was why I was considering the Vaga. However, I'm open to opinions as to its viability as a ninja ratter and also any other minnie ships.

Appreciate the reply!

only tanks 100dps, but has 11k Buffer, more than enough for belt ratting. 740dps without implants. (dont fly projectile ships, so im not sure what ammo is best to use)

I've done this using a Vagabond against Angels.

Vagabond is probably more mobile than a Hurricane. I was able to travel pretty freely in 0.0. Anything I couldn't get away from I could kill. Anything I couldn't kill I could run from.

I found that I went through ammo like crazy. This had two effects: First, I often had to be more discerning about the loot I picked up. Meta 4 siege launchers often didn't make the cut because they just took up too much space. Second, I had to be equally selective about the rats I took on. The 500,000 ISK battleship often got passed over simply because I'd rather spend the ammo on one with a higher bounty.

If you plan to limit yourself to two or three safe systems you may be better off with the Hurricane. But if you've got to travel or if you're going to be in hostile space then I'd use a Vaga.

I have done that with ac Stabber, ac Rupture and ac Bellicose. Ahz is absolutely correct about being selective.

All my ships died in gate camps though so I do not see how you are going to extract yourself when you are done. That is why I used t1 ships.

Appreciate the replies so far.

With respect to the ammo issue, I'm going to have an alt in a cloaked transport ship with a hold full of ammo, so that's no worries. The Vaga is perhaps looking like more of an option than the Hurricane, simply based on the fact that I think I would prefer the increased speed and agility of the Vaga.

One question I do have though is whether a speed tanked Vaga would be able to cope with some of the Gurista Hubs in 0.0 as opposed to just belt ratting?

I've ninja-farmed security status with a Cane. That was pre-projectile buff so it should be even easier now to do it. Had to haul down ammo once in a frig, but other than that it smooth sailing.

Note though that I used a shield buffer fit, only killing one BS (or occasional faction spawn) every 15 minutes, this gave me plenty of time for my shields to recharge.

Completly agree.

Flying a Hound is possible ratting even whit 20 o 30 hostiles in local. You just must know and follow some basic security tips.
