Whats the point of this ship ? It is way too weak for being in the same ship class as the cynabal.

Nah I just got 1 for free and wanted to used it but seems there is no reason to do that as a zealot is much better in every way.

With tracking bonus and drones as well has spare highs it is different to the zealot. It can also put up a better shield tank.

If you want to save 100m isk, use shield cane/harbi. Phantasm is waste of time now.

If you don't want it, I'd be willing to buy it off you. It lacks the oomph of a Zealot, but it packs a decent laser punch and swats down small ships like flies, plus is one of the weirdest-looking ships in space, which has a value all its own.

It's more solo capable than the zealot and better scan res than the harbi. I got one last week and it's a damn fun ship to fly. Especially since you can find them cheaper than Amarr HAC's atm and it really fills a role that nither the zealot or sac can do.

This.

Zealot is more or less a sniper.

Phantasm is a solo/small gang boat, its drones and small neuts, pluss shield tank make it pretty sweet.

More or less correct, but the Phantasm doesn't compete with the Zealot nor the Sacri, but the other Pirate Cruisers and ofc it's **** compared to them..
It took a major indirect hit with Dominion, there was a thread about it in the TSF forum section, here:

Check it out, leave a post, maybe this time around they'll see it..

Seems like the Phantasm is better than the Zealot - it has 3 drones and space for 2 neuts. If nothing else, it's got frigate defense.

3 lows is laughable for a cruiser, this is why it sucks and lacks the versitility of almost every other cruiser.

all the good stuff happens with the lows extra; damage, range, speed, agility - the pvp essntials.

Close to 50k ehp, decent resists, 400 dps with scorch. Downside is the rather big sig radius, 220m. But if you are in a shield gang that is in general no problem at all. Scimitars/Basilisks ftw.

If you are looking for a solo fit, *shrugs*, I guess it depends on what you want to engage.

Have fun with the 40 seconds of cap w/ everything running Shocked drop the med neuts and put 2 small t2's.
Meds should be MWD, point, cap booster (med) LSE and 2x Invul field. 3 extender rigs.

Less ehp but allows you to perma-run the MWD and keep a nice fast orbit of 24km.

It's a better ship than the Zealot for solo, since neuts, drones, and a tracking bonus give you a much better chance of dealing with frigates, while the Zealot's optimal bonus is usually wasted when you're limited to fighting within tackle range. And with the recent rise in T2 prices bringing the Zealot's price up to the same level as the Phantasm, it's really an easy choice to make.

The problem with the Phantasm is that it was boosted too early. While the Phantasm was boosted to be even with HACs, the other faction cruisers were boosted to be considerably better than HACs, leaving the poor Phantasm behind. Add in a massive falloff boost, and the Vigilant and Cynabal can out-gank a Phantasm at the Phantasm's own optimal. Sure, it's still cheaper than a Vigilant, but does that really matter very much?

Anyway, if you still want to fly one:

Also, the fit I posted is for gangs, not solo.

This ship isnt good for solo , most cruisers can go close and gank him there,as phantasm is so slow, smaller ships warp away easily, and larger ships will have more dps and tank. So what ships this ship can engage ? That is a question for all solo ships, if it cant reliably engage most then it is a poor choice for solo.
Just compare it to cynabal if that is what pirate cruisers ment to be , it is clearly subpar.

Yeah this is the fit I come to conclusion as the most usefull:

its play style is different, if you try to nano the phantasm you will still end up slower and with barly any dps at decent range.

Apples and oranges m8.

I'd argue that the phantasm is definitely subpar when compared to the cynabal, but think of it this way: It has vastly different skill requirements, a different price tag, a different weapon system etc. Aside from the fact that it's labeled a pirate ship, on what grounds exactly do you have to compare it to the cynabal? It's also not as good of a drone boat as the gila, nor does it put out the facemelting DPS of a vigilant. The pirate ships have vastly different roles now, so you can't simply compare them to each other.

With that said, given its price tag and stats, it's much more appropriate to compare this ship to a HAC than anything else (and by proxy to a BC). You deal the best kind of damage against most smaller ships (keep in mind that pretty much anything sub-BS in this game has at the very least a reasonable chance of being shield tanked, and it's the standard fit on more small ships than armor tanks), you have insane tracking, utility highslots, and the buffer of a BC while remaining more agile than your armor tanked counterparts (plated zealot or harb).

If a pulse zealot can be useful in small gangs (hint: it can) then there's no reason why this ship can't.

In general, laserfits are not cap stable, why would the Phantasm be an exception? Also, there is no need for a cap stable fit if you are in a gang. Zealot with a cap booster, anyone? *sigh*

This apple vs oranges is so stupid. I can very well compare apples vs oranges why cant you?

Oh low price is not because it was intended to be low price weaker pirate ship than the rest ,but because it is so weak nobody would pay higher price for it, so price is lowered.

Yeah all pirate ships uses different tactics no problem with that ,but this phantasm is way weaker in its tactic than cynabal in its. Btw whats phantasm's tactic should be? I quess kiting at 20km ,but then it doesnt to that job well enough.

Oh and from zealot is good in small gangs ,doesnt come that this ship is good too, it has lower optimal slower,oh and has much bigger signature.

My shield harbi has no problems kiting armour tanked cruisers and bc's, even ab frigs to a certain extent. The phantasm is 200 m/s faster so how does it not kite well enough?

phantasm's role had always been mid range kiting with a tough tank.

a cynabal does the same thing only its tank is speed, you cant base how good a phantasm is at its role by comparing it to a different one.

You can compare the Phantasm with every single ship you want to, regarding play style, skills requirements, weapon sistem etc with more or less relevant results.. What puts the Phantasm in it's own place is it's direct competition though, and that's the other 4 Pirate Cruisers, you price arguement is beyond lols and i will not adress it, however it does very little to me the fact that the Phantasm doesn't suck compared to the Zealot, Harby, Thanatos, Fenrir and Zephyr.. when it utterly sucks compared to all of it's direct competitors, the Ashimmu, Vigilant, Gila and Cynabal.. you have a link above to the to the TSF section, check it out.. don't speak if you don't know..

Ok you noob, so - because zealot is faster and usually engages at 100k and doesnt need to perma mwd to stay away from its targets /like phantasm at 23k/, it usually doesnt use cap booster /also fitting problems come to mind/.

Btw zealots used in armor rr hac gangs usually do fit cap boosters.

Not realy cynabal has nearly as good shield tank as the phantasm,it also has more drones better dps, tracking, capless guns, choosable dmg types and the speed/agility to escape if things doesnt go well. So even if both use the same tactic cynabal does it way better.
