It's meant for hunting in a very small gang (2-4) of similar ships. Some of them have scram instead of the web. Plan is to benefit from the bonused web and deliver the damage. Which targets? Not sure yet ^^

It's an expensive but cool ship. A better looking Enyo with bonussed web and +1 med slot :P

Max possibilities:
- [email protected]+3.8km
- 65 Defence and 4602 EHP against uniform damage
- 3881 m/s
- Cap for 1m 54s when MWD is of and NOS is on (pulsing the shield booster worked on other frigs fine so far - cap shouldn't be the problem)

active shield tanking a frigate for pvp purposes is, in pretty much any situation, a lolfit just waiting to be posted on someone's killboard.

1) This setup with my skills (and neutrons) does 550 dps. Seems like you have lots of isk but no skills. Better try T1 frigs first.

2) Your setup looks like PvE one for lvl4's in lowsec. PvP in 400kk active tank firg with no point... hmm :)

Indeed it's vice versa. I've some SPs but not that much ISK ^^ But granted, only little PvP experience. That's why I'm asking here... :P

Also: as written in the OP these values (340DPS) were EFTd with the all-lvl5-toon. Plz tell me how you want to squeeze another 210 DPS out of this frig?? Fitting neutrons instead of ions doesn't make such a difference..and overheating...well, my DPS value was without.

Please tell my why? What's wrong with active shield tanked frigs? Imo it's even overtanked!

The active shield is meant for getting quick under the guns and be able to rep any damage with quick shield rep cycles. It's not meant for continuous rep. The idea was: a frig doesn't take much damage anyhow because of it's size and speed. So the active tank should hold some damage a while..

But I guess you refer to its vulnerability to neuts? The nos should help here. And the MWD is off during the fight - it's only for approaching. But maybe it's not enough....so what do you propose? Speed tank? Shield or armor buffer? Just resists? I'd like to keep the lows free for damage mods. Imho this frig is meant to do damage. Thant's why it should be any kind of shield tank/buffer. But shield buffer bloats the sig and needs grid.

Gahh...me gives up. ugh

Ofc I will try it. And certainly in a T1 frig first - due to my lack of experience and lack of ISK. My point is: forums are there for sharing experiences and opinions? These "You're doing it wrong" answers without any substance are just senseless. It means either you have a clue but don't want to share your knowledge (why posting then?) or you just don't know the reason behind and parroting common knowledge...

Buffer/DCU tank it with just a single damage mod. Even with just one it does as much damage as the gankier destroyers.

Spend some of the money saved from the MagStabs on a faction web and consider rails rather than blasters. Gives option to avoid even medium neuts while still being able to web/pound a target.

Damage is glorious, but kind of a moot point if neuted/killed before it can be brought to bear Very Happy

This is how I would go. You've got a bit of faction on there but tbh this ship was built for a faction web. You can faction the scram but at 18km 90% web range you wont need to. with the two damage implants that are cheap on it you get overloaded 500 dps which is pretty nice. Its also 6km/s so you can push an overload cycle on web and scram and catch those pesky drams.

And tbh these are good players who are talking to you but they are a bit jaded by it all.

People tell you buffer over active tank and 99% of the time they are right. In a 1 on 1 situation you will kill your target in around 20 seconds. during that time you will get off maybe 12 cycles on an overloaded shield booster for 650 ish rep amount total. I'm sure you can think of ways to get that extra hitpoints without killing your cap. pro tip: most of your targets will be firing EM damage.

Well...as much as I dislike buffers, your argumentation is quite convincing :P My reason for disliking buffers (especially armor) is just it's dependence on any kind of infrastructure for external repair - be it a station or remote rep. Docking after each fight and so on...Maybe it's silly because almost everytime there's a station or a corp m8 with RR ^^ Not to mention RR-fleets...but I just like the idea of self sustaining ships and the ability to avoid dull EHP races...

An active tank would make sense in situations when I'm able to drop the incoming damage drastically (ewar, kiting, whatever..) or if the rep amount could be increased a lot (rep bonus + boosters + ... maybe). In both cases the rep/cap ratio would be better - I could repair the HP amount of the buffer twice or more. But the vulnerability to neuts or huge alpha damage would remain..

The shield tank thing can never work because of the slot layout, but active tank isnt always bad. If you're only using a daredevil for 1v1ing other frigs, then yes buffer is much better. However if you want to take on bigger ships that will take longer to kill, an active tank can help you survive the little bit of damage that you will take, whether its drones, the glancing gun damage you will take because you are under guns, or missiles that can slowly eat away at you.

So many jaded, self important ****s trying to look e-cool on internet spaceships forums is kind of hilarious.

OP, the main problem with your fit is that you do not have a point to keep people from warping away. While this can] be forgiven in gangs due to the dd's wicked web bonus, if you plan to solo with this you will get no kills.

The other problem is that you will be very vulnerable to energy neuts with this fit. Generally, on a ship that doesn't have the mid slots for a cap injector, using an active tank is a bad idea because it's too easy to run out of cap.

In regards to active vs buffer tanks, the former is really only useful on frigates if you intend to target ships with larger guns. As has been said, an active tank will allow you shrug off what little damage you take in this scenario.

Versus smaller targets like frigs, destroyers, buffer is definitely the way to go.

If you're interested in a dd fit, you may want to consider this(for lowsec only, mwd is needed for 0.0). Faction fit to taste

Please make sure you don't fly the fit Jodie posted. Your only advantage is damage so the whole point is to make it as obscene as possible. Even with a good fit there is a high chance a t1 fit rupture will kill you if it has nuets, at least by stacking the MFS you have a better chance. This is a ship that looks great on paper but actually doesn't work so well ingame. I would fly it dual prop whatever fit you choose because at least that way you can take on stuff ie BC and cruisers you know doesn't have nuets.

This ship kills any frig that it comes across but every frig pilot is docking up as soon as you enter system.
