This thread gave me some lols WAHHHH

I skipped to the last page and found this:

Hi every one, this is my first post on these forum.

I've read the first10 pages of this thread and decided to just skip to the end and say this.

As a hard core fan of the WHOLE universe of Startrek, logging in and playing STO was just as good as having sex, if not better. Now, with that said, I don't expect to get the same experience here than when i used to play EvE. In fact, I quitted EvE BECAUSE of the death penality.

When i die because i am careless and take on a much bigger opponent that i can handle, I am frustrated, i want to beat myself with a stick but when some "uber player" who's 30, 40 or even 50 level higher than me comes and just pulverise me to dust in one shot, I want to stranggle the developpers who allowed for that to happen.

I'm not against a Death Penality but sadly, some people use this to elevate themselves and prove to others that "they" are supperior(as is now the norm in most MMOs where there's the tiniest bit of PvP). This is where a line must be drawn and if the quick solution is to NOT have a death Penality, then I'm all for it.

So for those who can't cope with a game that is not to their liking, do as I did with EvE, LEAVE and play something else, something you like.

If you don't like STO the way it is, it doesn't mean it should be changed, it means you should be playing something else if you want more than what is offered.

I think you should have a death penalty, unless it is unfair then there shouldn't be a death penalty!

defiantly better than sex!

I can say with 100% certainty that the poster has no idea what sex is like so the comparison is null and void

couldn't have been worse than global agenda
out of curiosity, what is so wrong with GA?

if you're not paying the sub then all you have to do is pvp or pve missions.

pve missions consists of low, med, high, uberomgwtfhigh sec. low being easiest.... and that's it, those same things run overnovernovernover

pvp consists of one button to queue, a couple of different map types that you get thrown into randomly.

its boring

Now I wonder what the goons will do when SWTOR comes out.

I heard that that big group of gamers who take gaming way too seriously is going sith, so to make the game more interesting I hope that the goons will all join the Republic and show those guys that they aren't all so epic.

DLC?

2 fed races (federation klingon and federation ferengi) were made available only by cashing out points at C-store at launch.

threadnaught in the STO forums is at 101 pages atm.

Yeah, DLC, because everyone who pre-ordered got 400 points which covers the cost of those two insignificant (From a game perspective) races. For the 21 I paid for STO, I got quite a lot of stuff, including 2 months game time, a t-shirt, a wall poster, postcards and the extra pre-order in game items, which I think maybe more than the retail box of EVE gets you.

This is not a defence of some of the criticism against STO. Some points are valid, like ground combat, probably would have been much better to have ripped Mass Effect off. Also it really does feel like a single-player game. I can do the missions with or without other people, and I think I get more loot and EXP on my own.

why would u want a star trek t shirt, posters and postcards?

I didn't but on the whole, it was still value for money more than EVE Online.

One can apparantly upload your own avatar image on the STO forums, which seem just silly. Imo this goes to show that the developers have little self respect, or just don't care.

A star trek IP and then using custom avatar images?!? Laughing Surely there were other options.

Of course, I am similarily annoyed by ccp who apparantly allow nonsensical alliance names. It's like they don't care. How laborious would it be to keep an eye on the new alliance names, surely there aren't that many alliance names being generated each day?

Yes I am a propoganda machine for EvE online. Why? Cause EvE is the best!!!! Now we just need people to start linking intellingent eve online posts to sto and convert them to the one true reli... i mean mmo that is eve online.

I for one welcome the can flipping of sto converts.

But I thought that EvE was going to die to the MMO Juggernaut that was STOQuestion

With forum post like this "I'm not a naming ****, but ships like the USS babe chaser 2 and the USS Rainbow (captained by Gay Vulcan) make me groanExclamation"

Another quote "I think many people would be made substantially more happy if non-roleplayers at least demonstrated some respect for the IP in choosing a name. It's entirely possible to have a "cool" name for yourself and your ship that still fits the feel of the environment. It doesn't take anything more than a little creativity." They really have no idea what rocks a goonies world.

I think EvE is safe for awhile yetYARRRR!!
