After last week's success and surprising survival of our freighter, we set out to lowsec again to see if we could catch a few more unwary pirates. Last week our t2 frigate fleet had 44 members... this week, we had over 100 join up looking for fun.

First Blood:
The Freighter set off from Villore heading for Tama, with the fleet lagging 2 jumps behind. At one point, a red flashy went to tackle the freighter at a gate in a harbinger, but activated his web before his point and the freighter warped off. With the frigate fleet close behind, we assume he saw local start to spike and took off. No one else bothered to attack the freighter for the entire trip.

Daryl, our fleet scout suggested docking the freighter at Tama station and undocking a few minutes later to see if we could get a bite.

There were 3 reds on the station when we docked the freighter, who promptly docked up (we assume to give the freighter pilot the impression undocking was all clear). As soon as the freighter undocked 3 minutes later, a Brutix tackled it, and a pair of Abbadons undocked and got to work. This is what happened.

We send the freighter to nourvu to get repaired, funded by around a hundred donations of ISK. (Thanks to everyone who donated to that fund!)

Second Blood:
We decided to send the freighter out to FD-MLJ. On the way back, we were advised that there were a few pirates hanging out in Murethand. Once the freighter jumped in system, the pilot activated Autopilot to get through to Mesybier. Our Providence was 8k off the gate before the pirates showed up in a Brutix, Armageddon, Arazu, and an Ishtar. Unfortunately, our fleet was too excited, local spiked and was immediately flooded with Ackbar spam, and the Brutix managed to escape just as the fleet arrived. the Geddon, Ishtar, and Arazu were destroyed.

Third Blood:
We had enough left over from the previous round of repair donations to rep up the freighter one last time and sent it out to 0.0. In PF-346 the freighter encountered a mid sized camp. From this point, the fighting was chaotic and a cluster ****. I have no idea how many kills we got, but it was a rout. Some of the camp escaped, lots died, we lost a couple guys as well, but the freighter once again was still alive.

Finally:

We took the freighter 2 more jumps into 0.0, and ordered the fleet to do what no one else had so far been able to pull off. The fleet opened fire on the freighter, we gave away a Proteus to the member who got the KB (osku, congrats) and after that, the fleet turned on itself, mayhem ensued as people started shooting each other, while others made a desperate flight back to highsec.

As this was our last regular Thursday broadcast, I would like to thank the more than 100 pilots who came out with us today. If you're going to "leave Eve" I suppose that's a great way to go... though we're not really leaving, we're just going to be more sporadic.

Was at work and customers just had to come in during the .0 action so I didn't get in on that cept for the killing the freighter. Regardless was awesome the fights I did get in on. Gonna miss the funkybacon show on Thursdays but what a great way to go out.

It was overkill but just too hilarious. I doubt there will be very many "100 ship traps" in the near future of Eve. "It's a tarp!"

To try and make it more believable, I called out in Tama Local. "OMG HELP!"

Some local said "Lol, carebear tears."

This trick is going to work EVERY time.. There isnt a pirate alive thats not going to try and kill a freighter, bait or otherwise.

I would guess that you wouldn't even need the frigate fleet to lag that far behind, just not immediately jumping in would be fine. Hell, I'd probably still have a crack at it even with 100 or so T2 frigs hanging around it (although I would kit accordingly).

If you do it again, make a sport of it and put something valuable in it (few officer mods?), if the freighter survives the goods get handed out to the defending fleet somehow (lottery?) and if a pirate gang gets to pop it then they get to keep the drop.

There was 400m worth of quafe in there... that doesn't count? That took over 20 people a good couple hours to round up.

But yes, we said on air that no pirate should feel ashamed for falling for this.

This is proof positive though that listening to Eve Radio could save you hundreds on your ship insurance.

We had all those things on board. Here is a shipping manifest assuming it comes out right, the 1st number is what was destroyed, 2nd is what dropped, 3rd is it's estimated worth. The entire cargo was donated by Eve Radio listeners, as well as the freighter itself. The freighter was filled to capacity.

Total estimated value of ship and cargo was nearly 1.2 Billion.

Wow, I think I saw this in progress. I was in Providence marauding in my hound, when I warped to a gate and saw a Providence slowboating near the gate. There were 3-4 other ships on scan and I decided it seemed fishy.

I'm REALLY glad I didn't attack that guy!ShockedShockedShockedShocked

What can i say, that was epic.
FunkyBacon, you are a legend now, you allready where but that two last weeks rly set if off.
Rly worthy end of an era, THX to DJ FunkyBacon and the crew.

Great job to the fleet, im rly suprised how well and organized a pure pick up fleet of 100 can operate, I saw smaller more practised fleets operate way more chaotic.

Is it? True, 2009 had 'some' hotdrops and some efforts, I remember a incident in 2009 where a DT [IKILU] fleet got ganked by Galli militia, after DT jumped into Galli on purpose, a DT Damnation was carring a cyno, but never set it up, later it turned out there was no fuel for it in cargo, still wondering if he rly forgot it or used it up earlyer...just imagine "Put Cyno up, now, stay on target, we have a Triage in seconds, we gonna waste that guys." "Ooops."
