Hi,

I usually set my drones to passive to prevent agression screwups.
Last time I got jammed and unable to select a new target for my idle drones I wonder if I'm not being overcautious here.
Should I put my drones back on agressive ? Is there a way for 'evil ninjas' in mission to trick my drones into agressing them (i.e. is there a scenario where having drones set to agressive could lead me into getting ganked without Concord interference) ?
Any other thoughts on passive/agressive are welcome.

On Passive you have to tell drones what to attack

On aggressive they will attack stuff automatically based on a few conditions

The potential target is within your control range
The potential target is shooting at you
The potential target is applying e-war effects on you

the following do not make drones attack something

Someone Locking your ship
Someone taking stuff from your Jetcan
Someone taking stuff from your wreck

If you set your drones to aggressive, be sure to call them in if someone warps to your grid. Set them to passive and let them out again.

I believe you can set them to passive without recalling them, but I prefer to call them in, give them a stern talking to and sending them out again, just to be sure.

If I think I'll need to swap between passive/aggressive I have a key combo set and my drone settings window tucked away in a corner so I can quickly toggle the setting and make sure I have the correct one, I use ALT + A to change Aggressive/Passive and it does help. I also have a similar combo for the other drone commands, return & orbit, return to drone bay, engage target as well, they speed things up quite a bit and may well save your neck if your drones get out of hand.

And as stated above, if your drones are attacking something it's because they performed an aggressive act such as activating ewar mods, shooting, etc.

I've tested the jet can thing with an alt and aggressive drones do not attack someone stealing from a can or simply locking you.

Not necessary at all unless you are in low sec or 0.0. In high sec, the only ways that someone (not in your corp, not WT) can make your drones attack him are all concordable actions.
