This is something that CCP will never reveal to us but I was wondering, what real world nations/people are the races of EVE based on? Here's what we know:
Gallente: Descendants of Tau Ceti Frenchmen. Consists of other ethnic groups such as the Intaki and the Jin-Mei, both of which imply possible Asian roots.
Caldari: Corporate Dictatorship founded on the tenets of patriotism and hard work. One of the four founding members of the Gallente Federation. Caldari State includes the Deteis, Civire, and Achura. Achura may have Asian roots. Caldari have seemingly Russian accents in the Dominion trailer. Technologically superior to all but the Jove, according to CCP.
Amarr: Oldest of the four empires. Highly religious. Amarr Empire includes the Ni-Kunni, Khanid, Udorians, and Ealurians. In the Dominion trailer Amarrians have accents that I cannot determine.
Minmatar: Tribal. Minmatar Republic includes Sebiestor, Brutor, Thukker, and other tribes. Many Minmatar have dark complexions.
Is this all that we know about the races of EVE? According to the backstory there was an Earth at one time and these races came from that Earth. But where? Any ideas?

They travelled through a natural wormhole, so nobody knows where Earth is in relation to the current EVE star systems.
The Asian-looking ethnic groups were added later, each race has one. |

Couldn't be farther from the truth. Don your flame suit good sir. The Gallenteans were stranded on the temperate sixth planet of the Luminaire system, while the unlucky Caldari had to eke out a meager existence on a half-terraformed ice ball one orbit farther out. |

Edited by: cal nereus on 18/01/2010 04:26:45The bloodlines have different origins. Some Caldari can trace their origins to the Luminaire system, and most of the Gallente can too. However, the "Asian" bloodline of the Caldari (Achura) are from a completely different system, I think. They were discovered after the Caldari had already left Luminaire. I imagine other bloodlines also come from different systems aside from the home systems of the main bloodlines of each race. In a way, there are actually as many as 15 or more races (if you include the Sansha's Nation race and other weirdos). As for the accents in the Eve Dominion trailer, those have nothing to do with the in-game races. Those voices are supposed to represent players. Notice that all sides used ships from all races. You need to read more back story. You seem to have missed even the most basic history of EVE. I blame the new intro movie that explains nothing. Aha, I found the old intro. |
