I pay a yearly sub for the game.
I'm in a corp that does exactly what I want to do.
I was in a corp that I'd been a part of for a year.

In my past corp I stayed over a year because I felt it was going to get better. I felt that I somehow "owed" it to the guys I'd been playing with for a while. But I wasn't having fun. I wasn't getting into the non-pos/blob/lamefest that I didn't want. Hell I wasn't getting into the pos/blob/lamefest either!

So to those of you out there not having fun, because you feel obligated, or because you are just WAITING for something to happen....SEIZE THE CARP! Go out and find a corp that does what you want to do and does it every night!

I can't be the only person to ever go through this, share your stories here.

Fun in EVE is about WHO you are playing EVE with. Not what you are DOING in eve.

Mining, in a group, while drunk, with good friends can be more fun then being in the best pvp corp, in the best pvp alliance, in the best fleet fight.....

It's all about the PEOPLE, and not the event.

Find REAL friends, and it will be fun. Things will alway have ups and downs in eve. But if you have good friends, they can make even the boring stuff seem fun.

2005
After that long it's all same 'ole same 'ole in some ways.

I get what you are saying. I'm as guilty of it as the next vet of EvE. Playing EvEMon more than you play EvE. Every now and then I long for the days of Solitude region when it was me in my corp, no corp chat and nobody else setting my expactations. While there is plenty to be said of group reward, there is an element of the game I lost when an RL friend hauled me in to that group aspect. I 'failed' at EvE in those days but wasnt aware of it and didn't much care. Since such time the effort to not'fail' at EvE turned it in to a rat race in some ways.

The find familiars part I question. The do it the way you want part? I agree 100%. To have fun, dont feel the obligation. If its a burden its taking away something.

It's a shame there's no corp doing what I do.

Perhaps, in time, such a corp will come along. Who knows.

Was in a similar situation as Heromann. One day I said screw it, left and found a corp that fit me and I am having more fun now than in the last 6 months. Do It! :-D

Hello guys and good post btw. I have tried several corps in the past 4 months and both been good only at pvp but they lack something an that was conprehension and undestanding. i would say that forcing a player to do something in a game in which fun is suppose to be the key ingridient is lame, altho these days corps states that pvp is mandatory blah blah. As some of you say, finding a friend in eve is hard work cause people have different play styles and life styles and you may not fit those styles so they kick you out of corp extc... But honestly, finding a good set of people that enjoy the game as you intended to do is another ball game, but when u find them, its forever.. I my self enjoy playing alone since i cant find anyone who can stand me Twisted Evil

Hanging up the keys the pod about this very issue, to-day.

Tried manufacturing as a n00b. Tried mining. Did trade, did the vagabond thing.

First corp... Was war-dec'd to hell and back. Couldn't leave station, so had to leave corp. Encouraging Tech-II enemies to kill one month newbs is par for the course. The Scope was for me.

Sadly, every corp that seemed mature and fun and in High Sec wasn't hiring within a reasonable timeframe. Those that were hiring (AND mature, AND seemed like they were fun) had so many requirements as to make it very difficult to get it, or worse, simply wouldn't respond to folks during the application process- the hand off to those that did the recruiting didn't happen- applications languished while "interviews were rescheduled around real life.

There simply isn't enough meat in the game to keep playing without a corporation. The only progression besides grinding for agents or the slow learning process is the darker side of the game, which CCP encourages, but isn't the person I am, so isn't really an option for me.

Gave it 5 months. Some of it was fun. Much of it was pretty. Not much of it was a game, really- the challenges were linguistic (no matter how carefully one reads some instructions, they are ambiguous enough to leave room for a ton of error- hence the expression "I've been EVE'D!"), or so one sided (Tech-II vs Vexor? Really? The only option is to drop corp and wait, or simply hope for the best? Really? The cops just stand by and watch? Really?) as to be meaningless in any "game" context.

That's why there are other games.

Oh! Look! Server is finally coming up. "And that's another thing that isn't fun!"

I shudder to think what you are doing, considering the amount of seriously twisted minds in eve Shocked
