I do believe a GM said it is 6 cans. I cannot find the actual post at this moment. |

Edited by: Belkadan on 10/12/2009 17:48:29 I dunno how many cans decloaking a ship is considered an exploit.
And FYI, regardless of gate size, you'd need a hell of a lot of cans. region gates are a write off, way too big to be even remotly pheasable (unless you jumped a 200 man fleet thru and everyone dropped a can).
Using cans to uncloak people at a gate is generally only useful in drag bubbles. Otherwise there's just too much area to cover. Basically someone coming thru a gate can't be decloaked with cans very effectively (unless you're extremely lucky, or use an inty and a bubble). So you'll have to catch them on the way to the gate instead.
This makes catching cloakers (cov ops cloaks) in low/hi-sec virtually impossible (with the exception of lag or pilot inexperience/stupidity). I've heard of a bunch of BS's spread around gates firing off smartbombs, but never seen it personally; i suppose that could work.

I think what he is saying is that you simply deploy the probes around the gate. They are good for an hour before they need to be pulled back in. |

Corpses work better for this, they stay in space until they are picked up / destroyed, not on the default overview, and decloak players landing on them, cans only prevent cloaking. |

You can only have 6 cans anchored on a grid, any more and it is considered harrasement.
I have no idea how many jet cans you can have on a grid at a time before it is considered harrasement. |

i once read about a technique where a guy orbits the gate at high speed followed by drones and his buddies set there drones to follow him. Preferrably medium drones. They should form a long tail which will decloak ships if you choose the right orbit range. Adding cans u would have a pretty decent setup i think? I never tried it myself, but the theory sounded interesting, can anyone confirm or deconfirm? |

To decloak at a gate, you sit in the middle of gate in an interceptor, get your friends to assign drones to you, And ctrl + spam click your overview till the ship briefly appears you will go hurtling towards him and when he cloaks double click the space he cloaked up at n you should be very close to him and decloak him. Only works with a bubble up but i've decloaked countless cov ops and SB's using this method. |

Speaking from my experiance in w-hole warfare: yeah the inty with drones set to assist orbiting the bubble works pretty well, try and mix up the types of drones the differing speeds will help extend the tail and give you more random objects orbiting the bubble to decloak. Jet cans are good for decloaking especially if you anchore them in the middle of the bubble. you can increase your mine field of decloaking objects with sentry drones, corpses and probes. use the bubble generator as a decloaker anchore it in the path of objects that your foe is likely to attempt to warp to around 5 or 6 km from the w-hole use spare warp feild generators to fill in gaps. Yes the smart bomb trick will work on cloaked ships, but I think it is more akin to depth charges in submarine warfare, you dont know if you hit anything unless the wreck appears but it is good for discouraging people from hanging around all ships should be orbiting at different distances from the entry point. the more random moving targets that are on the grid the less likely it is that somthing is going to get through.

In high sec, suicide ganking results in a large concord fleet making an appearance.... I have seen some people use mass amounts of alts to bring in concord on a gate resulting in a MASSIVE concord fleet bubble circling the gate. Anyone who jumped in was instantly decloaked due to the sheer volume of concord.
After seeing this one of our CEO/FC decided to use this to our advantage and pulled our enemies towards us and when they jumped into system they were being decloaked instantly and their fleet got shredded and with no losses for us. |
