But I cant always see them on the bright side. Is there a secret that lets me see the lit up side of a planet?

Could we possibly preveiw planets like ships? (They always do that in Sci Fi movies too :D

Also, is the weather on the planets static? not that its a bad thing, but I saw a huge hurricane wrecking havoc on the side of one planet in minny space. It would be tight if it wasnt.

Pretty awesome update CCP! woot woot.

Only wish we didn't have to warp through them... Independence War 2 warp style FTW.

Yeah, I think they're a definite improvement, even if they don't have dynamic weather etc. I havn't visited one more than once post-Dominion, so I'm not sure if the weather is static, or if they move relative to the station viewpoints etc. (or rather the station moving, heh).

My home station is currently on the dark side of a planet, it'd be nice if it slowly rotated through into the daytime side.

The weather is not static. If you stick by a planet long enough you can see the clouds moving.

Weather is not static. Look at a Storm planet for confirmation of that [otherwise you'll strain your eyes looking for changes for hours]

Planets and such did move at some point, but was removed afaik due to ****-ups with bookmarks.

I agree. Plantes are amazing now. The other day I was just stunned at the beauty of Gicodel III - its lava surface was just amazing :)

But the whole flying/warping through planets and stuff kinda ruins the realism. Hope that this will be "fixed" at some time.

Agreed, the planets are great. Last night i was stunned almost by the beauty of a green and blue planet looking much like earth when i return from my daily moonthingy.

Lol if the "realism" of flying faster than light in your spaceship while accompanied by the whooshing sound of your rockets is ruined by passing through the planets, then have a very low realism threshold.

Eve ships pass through planets because they are travelling in Mcguffin space in order to circumvent lightspeed issues with infinite mass and time dilation etc.

I think it's a bit premature to preclude the possibility of some form of FTL travel. As for the sounds, they are for the pilot's convenience. Sounds stupid? These days, people spend money to make their car sound "right". At least giving space pilots some sort of audible speed indicator makes sense.

We all know that. Neutral Doesn't keep us from wandering if maybe the real reason has more to do with lack of time before EVE's initial release and the fact that people would whine about such a change now because they'd need to think for 2 seconds longer before placing their bubbles.

They almost put warping around planets in the game, reason they gave up on it iirc was because it made it so people were taking too long to get from one place to another and from a survey of players not that many cared.

I love the new planet textures as well. Too bad you cannot interact with the planets.

How awesome would it be if you could land on a planet and install mining buildings, hunt mobs etc. Planets are after all the number one sources of resource, or atleast it should be.

One of the planets gave me a scare yesterday. I was warping to a gate in lowsec and thought the planet was a bubble. Punk'd

Nah, all you can do is sit near them, evading their gravity the whole time.
