Ever since Dominion landed I've felt my ships have been taken more damage than they should have. For starters, my Golem hasn't been tanking as well as it did before Dominion and the cap isn't lasting as long.

At the weekend my mate showed me a crazy Ishtar setup he uses for plexing. I actually have better skills than him but I tonight, when testing the exact same setup, on the exact same NPCs, I had to warp out before my drones even managed to get to the NPCs!

So I try a second time. And this is what happened.

I warp in. I'm getting shot at. **WHACK** my shields are down in seconds. Then, strangely, my shields go BACK UP to maximum. Actually, they went OVER the maximum. To start with the were at 33m HP! But every second, they quickly reduced back to what they should be.

I managed to get a quick screenshot.

Yeah, 1145597 left of maximum 11949...

Now 1.1m shield HP on an Ishtar would suit me fine. But the next thing, while in warp, my shields dive-bomb again. Down to zero.

I've already lost my Golem today for a completely different issue (socket closed on my gang when doing a level 5 mission), and I've petitioned for that. But I can't play the game when it tells me I can't tank SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY HP of damage over 25 seconds. (that is the log from the above engagement).

What should I do? Is this something a GM can fix? Is anyone else having this kind of issue?

edit: typo

Laser is on the Ishtar only for argro. Lasers need no ammo. Hell, I could have fit a civi gatling gun and it would have done the same job.

The fit is for running Guristas plexes, and the highs are for utilities. Drones do the damage :)

I hope you don't get it back. I've had network problems like that before and they've said tough ****.

Clear you cache to start with, that will prolly fix the weird shield amounts (pure graphical glitch).

Also a log showing how little damage cruise and heavy missiles are doing against a (probably AB-ing) Ishtar is fun, but trust me your golem will get hit a lot harder by these missiles (even when you get your kin resist up as much as the ishtar has it basic).

That said, I guess you just got hit a lot and with the graphic glitch which is prolly cuased by your cache, you died, because it's pretty hard to active shield tank without valid shield info.

Thanks for the suggestions regarding clearing my cache. I will definetely give that a go. The strange thing is through, my current install of EVE was new with dominion. And it's also happening with my alt account too now - with his cap. It says I have full cap when in fact, I'm completely dry. It's so weird.

Also, what's the deal with excessive timers? We all know session timers are 30s long. But earlier I had to wait FIVE MINUTES before being able to jump after undocking. Sometimes it'll keep saying "session change in progress" when thirty seconds have clearly past as the session time indicator has disappeared.

I love EVE and I appreciate the hard work CCP put into it. But there are days I get so hacked-off by this game I feel like I could just fill up a freighter with all my belongings, head into 0.0 and see how far I can get! Confused

Edit: Keitaro Baka, good drone guide Smile

Do you have several EvE installs for TQ server? Because that is very dodgy since they started supporting vista (sigh).. You want to use the command line arguments so the documents&settings windows crap is avoided as much as possible (google eve command line or summin)

These issues could be all related to cache problems (possibly caused by using several eve installs i.s.o. several eve instances out of the same install), so be sure to check it out (if you back it up before removing the chache dir you can see if you can recover certain settings later on).

ps: thnx it be old old old tho :D

Good news :D

I re-installed EVE last night. I forgot I had installed EVE on two separate partitions on the same disk before. This time I installed it on two separate hard disks. It seems to have solved the problem. I've still not changed the location of cache files etc - I couldn't find a proper guide on it.

Also, I got my Golem back. Order has been restored.

thanks for all your help guys!

shields not properly updating until you get hit, use a shield booster, or I guess warp, has been around for a long time. but showing up as 11million/11k is something I haven't seen before Laughing

and I have yet to see socket closed other than this one time where I was going to disconnect anyways.

Why do you have to install more then one client on your system? I have just one client installed and I can run as many instances as my cpu and ram can take. I haven't reached that max as I only have 2 accounts.

FYI, fresh install doesn't delete your cache. The cache is buried in your AppData folder, and it's dependent on the path of your EVE installation. Changing the EVE folder name achieves the cleared cache effect.

I'd say the easiest 'cleared chache effect' can be achieved by firing up eve, then at the log-in screen go into "Settings", then "Reset Settings" and click the "Clear" button on the line that says "Clear all cache files".
