How about allowing us to use these 'slaves' as a method to gain faction standing (a very, very small ammount) when they are freed or, conversely, enslaved?
Admittedly I have collected very few slaves since the mission rewards changes (from useless goods to plain old boring ISK) so this looks like a decent method of exchanging goods to repair bad standings over time.
Freeing or enslaving would remove the items so they could not be simply sold back and forth to farm standings. Another exchangable item would be needed for the Gallente, OFC. No such good is needed for the Caldari, they're insanely easy to farm already with so very, very many agents. |

Revise your OP to take this into account, and yes. Until then, no. This thread currently just looks like a Mimatar emancipation rally. Until I get the opportunity to enslave as well as free I don't see the point. |

Edit: Also allow them to be turned in at Ammar datacenters with a nice comment from the agent about how well they're doing in their new 'jobs' at a crystal factory. PS: Sell them to CVA, I think they are required materials for the outpost eggs, they spam alot of outposts right? |

No need for a new Database Item Freed SlavesAll that's needed is a way to convert one type to another which could be done with the Right Click Menu when in Station. |

Edited by: Cassina Lemour on 13/01/2010 21:28:03Edited by: Cassina Lemour on 13/01/2010 21:26:26In the early days there used to be missions that turned slaves into scientists, caretakers etc. There could be a round robin loop of missions, that convert one type of person into another with different results depending on the faction. It might be good to make these the FW equivalent of the Faction standing missions. Something along these lines. Minmatar. Slaves -> Freed Slaves -> Freedom Fighters Amarr/Caldari Marines -> POW Gallente Slaves -> Freed Slaves -> Marines Caldari/Amarr Marines -> POW Amarr Freedom Fighters/Marines/Tourists -> POW -> Slaves Caldari Gallente/Minmatar Marines -> POW -> Forced Labour The gaps would need to be filled in to account for all the various types of people under passengers. Finally you could have missions to recover your sides POW from enemy FW complexes. Deliver POW to your faction navy for a reward like with tags. If this is added I think it should be done in a way that enriches FW. -- edited -- I also like this mechanic variation of the same idea. Originally by: Ozone71 Arrange a few BPO's
1 x Slaves + 1 x Racial Charter = Homeless.
Maybe different racial charters create different groups.
Homeless + Amarr Charter = Slaves Slaves + Caldari Charter = Mercenry etc.

What's so bad about "trash it?" I don't think that literally means shoving in a trash collector. Trashing = relinquishing possession of = freed slaves.
If CCP is going to spend any time on this issue at all, it should just be to change the words "trash it" to "release," which has a more neutral meaning across item types while still retaining implication. I assume when I trash an Ibis, that someone picks it up or something. I'm not actually shoving an Ibis into a compactor. |

only problem I can see is people grinding out slaves to make isk, aka fly to one port and turn slaves into free people make a little isk, take all the free people to another station and turn them into slaves, make a little isk. Sooner or later you could see freighter loads of slaves being moved around... then again maybe this would be a little more realistic than the hold ornaments they are at the moment. |

See that's just exactly it. It could be implemented in a simple, nongamebreaking way initially that would still go a long way to help immersion. I've been wanting this since 2003, and it is _the_ reason why I did not get involved in the RP side of eve, a few abortive attempts aside. I really just could not make it work when there was nothing that could be done with the slaves. Ideally I'd like a more well developed mechanic that affected standings or loyalty points or something, but I'd be happy with anything that made it not completely immersion-breaking. |

Perhaps the option to keep the salves and incorporate them as part of your ship. Forced crew labor. Thus giving you slight attribute pluses to gunnery or other items on your ship.
Each ship could have only a maximum # of 'crew' it can have at a time ( depends on size of sihp ), and they also die off after time. Making you require more - and there you have a valid market price for slaves.
Freeing them perhaps brings up your security standing or something. Using them - brings it down. |
