I'd like my money back on the terrible paint job that was done to my Megathron Navy Issue. They told me the upgraded skin would look cool. Instead its hideious. Probably the ugliest looking skin I have seen of all ships.

OOC
Why on earth is an advanced civilication like the one we play in eve going to use camoflage as a ship skin? Would this type of society even know what camoflage was outside of biolgists who studied animals? Is my ship going to be flying through a jungle somewhere? This is just rediculous, it's not a part of the spirit of eve and it's just plain fugly. This kind of skin doesn't belong in the eve universe.

I vote change it back. I've never posted on these forums and probably never will again. Still my ship is SO ugly I felt compelled to tell you all here.

The models in the eve store are camo, thus we're never getting a good looking navy mega again.

I don't understand. What does camoflage have to do with #@*$ spaceships? How can someone reasonably say this fits in the eve universe?

You're right it's ugly. I'll give you 200 ISK for yours since it's so bad. Hope that helps...

Quite many real world fighter planes (I know sucky RL comparison) have camo paintjobs, despite pretty much exclusively being designed for BVR engagements.

For the RL examples I can see it make some sense since they do land and get stored away between flights (perhaps in nature, in times of war)

But in space? Maybe inside a station forest? :P

While I agree that most of the camouflage paintjobs are butt-ugly and that camouflage has no real place in space, I imagine planetary military troops and vehicles would bear camouflage patterns.

Some of the camouflage paintjobs look cool, and perhaps that is why the navy uses them - the colour of a spaceship's paintjob makes no real odds so why not use something a) cool-looking and b) consistent with military designs.

Gallente navy paintjobs are terrible though.

**** I'll give you 500 for it! It's clear that it's so terrible you had to come to the forums and post a "Navy Mega Paint job thread #687346834293870".

If it's so ****ing bad, don't fly it. It's not like the Navy Mega is the only damn ship in the game. Damn crybaby.

Your looking at it wrong, they painted it camo because it's in space and it doesn't matter what the hell the colour is anyway, so bugger it, they probably thought we may as well have camo for the sheer hell of it.

the navy thorn has gone from super cool, to giant gay lord. worst paint job ever imho.

i still can not understand why it had to change? was it because someone goofed up and got the store colours wrong?

besides if it is suppose to be camoflage, shouldnt it be the colour of its natural surrounding........ correct me if i am wrong but space is BLACK.

I havenít seen the new mega so I canít comment on weather or not I like it. However as a former member of the military I can say for certain that the military will paint anything camouflage for any reason at all. So from that perspective it makes perfect sense to me.

I suggest all of you go out and camera spin a Moa for at least an hour or two. If you still have your eyes intact by the end, the Navy Mega should be looking vastly improved.

CCP Need to put a bit more thought into paint designs really.

In fact some kind of visual illusion camo would be justifiable from a tech/backstory standpoint, would look cool and would provide much more scope for interesting and varied skins.

Despite the hyperbole I am afraid you are close to the real reason.

I miss the old Gallente organic and stylish wood and bronze scheme.

The change to camo is completely unforgivable. They've taken the sexiest ship in the game and pretty much made the butt-ugliest.

To redeem themselves, they should offer those snazzy new Roden Shipyards Megas as a t2 missle / hybrid pvp boat in the next expansion. *Hint hint*. I would literally donate a testicle for one of those.

I know I'm being a giant prick about the paintjob, but seriously think about it. Are there any camo on any chronicles depicting soldiers? No. How about the DUST 514 characters? No. How about any vehicles or landing craft in the DUST trailer or gameplay footage? No. So the only place where I've encountered a camo paint is on the frigging spaceships. It just can't be a concious design decision, since they don't actually apply it in a consistant way.

Well see this is just the point. The camo paintjobs were "supposed to add uniformity to the navy vessels" and they have done just the opposite. Let's just use Gallente as an example here: The Navy Mega: black. The Navy Comet: black and white. There was a match there, sort of. At least they looked cool. The Vexor stood out for some reason (camo) and then they threw the useless Navy Exequror in there to match it. Now we have 2 / 2 black / camo. SO, in order to make everything 'the same' they made the new Navy Domi camo, then repainted the Mega, AND LEFT THE COMET THE SAME.

There's some real jack-assery going on here and I hope to god someone gets kicked in the beanbag for it. How could anyone have thought this was a good idea? I'm starting to think nothing gets tested anymore at all. There's like one brain-dead ****bag that controls the entire R&D, and a bunch of monkeys sit around saying 'That's a great idea boss! HERP DERP.'

Think I'm wrong? Think things get tested before they're released? Why am I clipping inside my ships when I'm undocking? Why do my channels untab every time I log in? Why do we have artifacts from 3 systems ago showing up in the overview? (a problem that still exists from RMR ffs). They need to stop making stupid changes nobody wants and focus on things that actually matter.

If it's about the models, why do I have a slew of pics on my hard drive of a black megathron model, from when the models first came out?

Why do you guys even bother with these threads? Most of the time, you aren't even looking at your ship, you're looking at the overview, browser, market, local, or the damage and modules stuff. I think the Navy Gallente looks kinda cool, but who cares?

I too loved the black navy mega. But, I think the camo looks really good too. I don't really see what the fuss is about. Also, all the whining in the world isn't going to change it because of Helios.

Use your imagination:

Maybe it has nothing to do with camo and more with a specific nano paste they put on the hull.

Maybe the pattern (regardless of color) breaks up the ship profile at a certain distance against the stars.

Maybe the alloys used at particular points on the ship.

but in all honesty: it's not a big deal.

As a side: if they really wanted camo my suggestion would be all black with large white LCD's at certain points.
