Anyone else think the new graphics & GUI looks like more of a downgrade then an upgrade? The stars are no longer little flickering points of light but now huge cartoon looking stars and the GUI looks like it went back in time to old flat looking WIN 3.1 when it used to look pretty modern....Shocked

Yes, the proportion is all wrong. Besides, should I really be able to fly through the graphic of the moon and have it disappear? And I'm not happy about the 10 - 15 fps hit I took either.

I haven't looked at the stars yet, but I really like the new UI. However, I don't like the new planets. They lag my computer more than it used too....

I think the new stars and planets look awesome and I didn't lose even a fraction of my FPS.

The new GUI is simpler and more sleek, and I like the design of it. "Modern" is a relative term. Modern can be very minimalistic.

I think to give us more space effects (e.g. nicer looking planets) CCP made GUI more simple, trying to balance out upgrades with more simplistic tools to reduce lag time and such... might not be too effective, but imagine lag time if GUI had more efffects, so to speak.

From what I've seen, it's pretty obvious the starfield is the exact same starfield over whatever nebula background in the exact same layout in each system, the pattern doesnt seem to change an inch, yet before I dont think you could tell.

Also like you said, stars dont look sharp anymore, they look blurred and washed put.

Reminds me of the blurry galaxy map after the first incarnation of the new exploration system.

The planets can be really distracting for some reason, the one outside Jita station is a good example, it's like it's now twice as big and twice as bright, would've preferred them toned down a little.

I like the interface except the mail system. Sure it's pretty laggy at the moment compared to the old one but they'll work the bugs out.

I actually find the new UI more responsive than before. It's snappier and doesn't hang nearly as much as the old one did. And I don't even have any sort of super computer (just a laptop)

Personally it looks poor. 3d effect tabs and flat windows is a fail imho.

And why have shadowing / highlights on icons in the windows if they are flat.

Font is just as poor but no change there then.

Shame that the UI team ,appear to have never played the game , for any period of time.

Not really, makes about as much difference as if they'd drawn a really tiny man on one of your ship windows.

well, stars don't flicker in space, the atmosphere causes that and there is no atmosphere in space. i don't think the new ui is bad. have you seen the new map? check out the tiles tab. and the planets. before they looked like a flat .gif image. now clouds and you can see the orange of the sunset. and you will get above 15-20 FPS if you get a better graphics card. if you cant run eve, than you are long past due for an upgrade

I think the starfield needs a major update, it's on the right track though.

The planets are awesome.

The GUI isn't much different to me, but it certainly doesn't look worse.

Now if only we can get an ultra-high graphics option for those of us with cutting edge GPUs :)

Haven't logged in long yet, but love the graphics, stars and planets actually "real" now.
Really like how the new UI seems to be much more responsive then the old one, and like the new look.

New stars are too big - they look like a distant planet. they need to be no bigger than 1 pixel all all zoom levels to appear "sparkle" instead of "spraypainted".

And with a cycle lasting hours rather than a second or 2. So, even if Eve's star field did have this scintillation, you wouldn't notice.
