Right now I'm doing lvl 2's in a Thorax, and I have 98 million isk saved up.
Should I just buy a Dominix and blaze through 3's so I can do level 4's asap? |

Yes - assuming you have the skills to fit/fly the Dominix without losing it to the first warp scrambling mission you encounter. |

Yesh. There is essentially no risk to doing l3s in a domi with halfway decent skills. By the time you are ready to run level 4s, just make sure you have at LEAST t2 mediums (even better is t2 sentries) and the ability to run 2 lars cap stable. Or ability to run l4s with a single LAR setup without getting popped every 3rd mission.

Hell, my destroyer nearly got taken down by friggin' DRONES using those damn things on me.
I managed to limp away with like 5% hull HP left. :p

I have to disagree there. Trying to do a level 4 with t2 mediums is going to get you killed due to the abject lack of DPS. You need Heavy Drones and Sentry Drones at a minimum, and ideally t2 sentries and/or t2 heavies. You should also aim for a T2 tank (ie LARII and active/passive hardeners/Membranes II). |

not this. Getting your dessie nearly popped is no benchmark for any of the experiences you will have in a battleship. A domi popping in a lvl 3; you'd damn near have to WANT it to die. |

I used a Blasterthon for level 3 missions with great success. Most NPCs in lvl 3s will orbit at under 20km and medium drones can take the rest. With minimal skills there is some risk, but once you have a T2 tank you are golden, ie can aggro whole room with no problem. |

I have to say, I never use heavy drones in lvl4s.
Hammerhead T2 are very quick to deal with battleships with hobgoblins taking out everything under BS class ships.
I myself use a megathron simply because its a much faster killing machine than the Dominix. However with that said the dominix is a very capable ship indeed, One I used for lvl4s before the mega upgrade.
As long as you have decent skill levels in:
Gunnery
Drones
Cap related skills
battleship to lvl3 minimum
You'll be fine
Important rule of lvl4s is this, When your Tank starts to fail by fail i mean 75% and constantly decreasing align up ready for instant warp to a gate station or planet. |

Just get Hull Upgrades V and Mechanic V before doing LVL 4s so you can use T2 tank and you will be fine.
If you are very good with your fitting and depending on the rats you can do it without T2 tank. Another option is to buy faction tank: Amarr/Ammatar/True Sansha LAR, EANM, Hardeners, etc.
As far as LVL 3s go, even a failfit Domi can breeze through them. |

98m doing level 2 missions? I salute you sir. Get the Domi. Do lvl 3 missions till you have the appropriate skills for lvl 4. Kill scram rats asap if you have tank problems. |

What I don't get is why not a Myrm?
It'll actually complete the missions faster since it will handle the travel much better. It's not like a Myrm isn't a very nice drone boat for handling L3s.
BC is also a very nice skill to get to IV. |
