I'm skillin my alt up to use Minmatar BS. He can use T2 Armor and T2 shield mods except T2 boost amps. He has 500k in missiles and 500k in gunnery - so he's fairly bad.
I prefer to armor tank rather than shield tank, so that could eliminate the Mael.

Here is a fit that I came up with, using mods lying around. Not sure what I would need to fit in the last 2 high slots. I'm not used to Minmatar (I'm Amarr, pew pew loud laz0rs) so excuse the fit if its bad. This ship will be used in conjunction with my Nightmare in missions. Primary assist would be for angel missions.

Edit: Would a RF Tracking Enhancer help in any way? I know Minmatar fight in their falloff.

Replace the tracking computer with an AB and you're good to go for your first missions. Personally, i think you're asking for trouble fitting expensive faction stuff on a ship that might just get popped by NPCs, but it's your ship.

Leftovers really. I'll switch the tracking comp to a 100mn AB. Is there anything else I should do to make it a bit better?

Do you intend to use this as DPS support? Your Nightmare will have a better tank in every situation, so you might as well drop all your cap stability to begin with and go full damage (your Nightmare will do that better as well).

Put an armor rep, EANM, and 3x Gyros in the lows (Or an armor rep and 4x Gyros if you can stand barely tanking it). Put a 100MN AB, 2x Tracking TCs, 2x Range TCs in the mids, 6x 1200mm Arties and the largest missiles you can fit in the his. Have your Nightmare pull all aggro, and then just shoot to your heart's content with your alt.

If you're not intending to dual box, but intending to switch to your Minmatar alt for Angel missions, the Tempest is the worst Minmatar BS available to you...you'd finish Angel missions faster and safer in your Nightmare.

Hm, put maybe shield transfer in to help the nightmare... if that makes sense at all. O_o

Definately train up t2 guns. On the long run you probably want this dude to sit in a ACII Vargur wich is one of the 5 best mission ships - placement depending on what you are shooting at.

If this is a "warp out if aggro" ship - overtanked and underdamaged. There is no real point in taking two tanks to one mission, is there?

Maybe a salvage phoon would make more sense? :D

Yeah it's probably going to be DPS support. Maybe a light tank with more dps? Most of the time he is salvaging while I pew everything down. I have every intention of dual boxing. As far as the Tempest being the worst available to me.. would the Mael truely be that much better?

If you're only using it for DPS support, the Tempest is actually pretty equivalent to the Mael (and even slightly better with 6x Projectiles and 2x Missiles on it).

The Tempest sucks because it's impossible to fit reasonable DPS and a tank at the same time. If you're using it for all out damage, you're just fine.

If you want to be tricky, after Tuesday you could also try something like this:

6x 800mm ACs
2x Launchers (not digging into EFT to see what fits at the moment)

1X 100MN AB
3x TC, Range Script
1x TC, Tracking Script

4x Gyrostabilizers
1x EANM
1x Armor Rep

Rigs fit to amplify missiles or anything else you like (Cruises might be best if they fit). Off the top of my head, you should get close to 1000 DPS out of it if you used all T2 stuff after Dominion changes (significantly less if your skills are under par).

With Trajectory Analysis IV, you would have 43KM Falloff using EMP/Phased Plasma/Fusion. This would be particularly good on Angel missions, though you'd have to AB around on most of the other ones.

You're probably better off using Artillery for your purposes, but I thought I'd give you something else to think about as you dabble with Minmatar. Wink

I didn't see any changes to Projectiles in the Patch notes.....

Edit: I fail at reading...just saw this:
"All projectile weapons have been rebalanced so each tier (long range/short range, small/medium/large) have more consistent attributes and the increase between each tier is more defined."

Any specifics on this?

Woo boy. You missed quite the Threadnaught. Wink

The key information is spaced out through the 83 pages, but to sum it up:

EMP/Phased Plasma/Fusion all do the same damage with -50% range, and have purified damage types. They now do the same damage as Multifrequency and Antimatter.

Long range ammo damage was nerfed, bringing it in line with other race's 60% damage ammo. (Proton/Carb Lead/Nuclear all do the same damage with +60% range and are purified.)

Mid tier ACs get +10% Falloff, high-tier get +20% Falloff. Low and mid-tier ACs get a tracking boost.

1400mm Arties do 75% more damage and fire 75% slower, and got a small DPS boost. 720mm Arties do 25% more damage and fire 25% slower.

Tracking Enhancers now give +30% Falloff. Range scripted Tracking Computers give +30% Falloff as well. Everything that affects falloff is now stack nerfed.

Don't think I missed anything...

I used something like this on sisi for some l4:

[Tempest, New Setup 5]
Large Armor Repairer II
Armor Explosive Hardener II
Armor Explosive Hardener II
Armor Kinetic Hardener II
Gyrostabilizer II
Gyrostabilizer II

100MN Afterburner II
Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron
Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

1400mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Fusion L
1400mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Fusion L
1400mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Fusion L
1400mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Fusion L
1400mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Fusion L
1400mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Fusion L
'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher, Havoc Heavy Missile
'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher, Havoc Heavy Missile

Large Ancillary Current Router I
Large Semiconductor Memory Cell I
Large Ancillary Current Router I

Valkyrie II x5
Warrior II x5

Admittedly I had almost max support skills, but just l2 in BS and Large Projectiles.

Still it worked surprisingly well and was a lot of fun to fly, mostly because of its speed. Damage looks weak on paper but maybe due to the painter raising the real dps it felt quite ok'ish.
